After selecting my local theatre on the…

After selecting my local theatre on the fandango website, I purchased my movie tickets. When we arrived to the theatre to check in, they could not accept the tickets and said the website had purchased them for a theatre in a whole other state! They told me to repurchase at the counter and that I could get a refund after the show. When I went to contact customer service, fandango refuses to take any responsibility for the website glitch and refused to refund me, because their policy states you can’t get a refund after the show start time. How would your customers have the opportunity to correct this issue with customer service inside the theater within minutes of showtime? In my opinion their customer service is performative and policies do not reflect reality. What a scam.

Scammy Company

I am extremely frustrated with Fandango after my experience at Ivon Movie Theater. I purchased tickets through the Fandango app, but when I arrived, the theater refused to let me in due to a "15-minute no-entry late policy." Even though the movie hadn't actually started yet (only previews were playing), I was turned away at the door.
The biggest issue is that this critical policy was nowhere to be found on Fandango’s website or during the checkout process. Fandango acts as the middleman, yet they fail to communicate theater-specific rules that can literally bar you from the show you paid for. To make matters worse, despite being denied entry through no fault of my own, I was never refunded my money.
According to Fandango's Ticket Policy, they do not set showtimes or control theater operations, but that doesn't excuse them from failing to disclose these "trap" policies. If they can’t provide accurate information about the theaters they sell for, they shouldn't be selling the tickets. I’m out the cost of my tickets and a night out. Avoid using this service if you want any guarantee of actually getting into your movie or getting your money back if things go wrong.

Their system is antiquated

Hmm, might have used Fandango at Home if I could have created an account. But apparently, the Fandango account I use to buy movie tickets at a physical theater can't be used to buy Fandango at Home movies, AND I can't use my email account I use to buy physical tickets to create a Fandango at Home account. I have to create a whole fricking new email account to create a Fandango at Home account. Y'all are Luddites!

Oh, wow, had no idea these shysters had gotten so bad. 1.2? They should be out of business.

Their system logged me out of my Fanclub account on the way to buy tickets and they wouldn't refund the service fees even 5 minutes later, after I noticed the fees on the email confirmation. Shady AF.

VERY MUCH concerned with the share tickets link

VERY MUCH concerned with the 'easy' share-your-ticket button on the app. [ fand.co / 1234abc ] is way too guessable (only 7-characters), and hides almost nothing of my personal information in the resulting ticket confirmation page. NO OTHER levels of authentication. Not even a login page, not behind a set of 2FA hand-wavy bullcrap. So movie location, my home ZIP, last 4 digits of my debit card, my name, my email address.. even the equally open link to the ticket barcode itself - it's all in plaintext right there just from visiting an extremely short link. Lovely!

Oh and because I can view sourcecode, I'm finding a lot of other personal information embedded as extremely plaintext javascript, not even obfuscated or partially hidden behind some fancy JS objects that I or an automated script would have to dig around to find.. Just guess that initial 7-character link and you're golden!~

HTML scrapers can have a heyday with this one!

Ripped off on gift card

Just had them request my CREDIT CARD INFO. by their customer service for a problem with a GIFT CARD. Said they couldn't investigate the fraud unless I gave then that info. I refused and now I have just been ripped off for $35.

Fraud

Just before the movie started, the movie theater closed the theater/room. Fandango won't refund because it's now after. That simple. Disputing with my credit card company. I wish there was anything at all I could do to not use Fandango any more.

Their website SWITCHED the theatre and sent me tickets to a theatre i would never go to and never have been to and didn't book! Then i went to my normal theatre and the tickets were no good of course. Then, i tried calling them and it's horrible horrible voice mail nightmare and then they refuse to refund your tickets after you spent your evening driving to theater and back home and ruined my whole evening! They are evil horrible company. Do not buy tickets from their defective website. I have 40 years of professional IT experience and multiple advanced degrees and I'm perfectly capable of picking the theater that I always go to, to buy tickets, and not pick one that's far away that I've never been to!

3-5 Day HOLD for gift card

I have active 2 Fandango gift cards with language that says they don't expire. I went to use the gift cards today online and they were not accepted. I spoke to 2 Customer Service Representatives. Apparently they do expire and Fandango will have to issue me new gift cards within 3-5 business days. The representative confirmed the GC balances but still won't issue me a new GC. So now I have to pay full price ($120) for 4 tickets to see the movie or lose my seats. It literally defeats the purpose of buying gift cards that don't expire.

Fandango web site and app are the worst

Fandango web site and app are the worst. I rarely ever write reviews (maybe 2 in last 10 years…..you really have to piss me off). I received a fandango gift card for Christmas and went to use it yesterday and again today. The web site has so many pop up adds is nearly impossible to use. The app is not much better….just buffers forever finding seats. I had to go to the theater’s web site to order directly and use my Visa. I feel like I’ve already suffered more than the $25 value of the gift card so in the trash it goes.

No Security, WORSE Customer Support

Recently I reset my password and cannot login with the new password. Fandango has consistently blamed my internet service provider and claims I'm using a vpn, neither have anything to do with resetting passwords. They requested screenshots of my computer IP and other personal information which I sent begrudgingly explaining that it has nothing to do with a password reset. Fandango's most recent email told me to contact my ISP to fix my Fandango password issue. Figured its time to come here and tell everyone that Fandango does not care about your security, or privacy, and will repeatedly blame anyone else instead of fixing the issue. It's been a week now and I have successfully reset my password 3 times and I have been able to login to my account ZERO times. Fandango is still unwilling to reset my password or assist me with resolving this issue. Stick to movies anywhere, Amazon, and Google. I can't believe I've wasted a week already trying to get my password reset.

What did YOU do?

I paid for 2 mystery boxes and when I went to purchase the tickets it only credited me for 1, I screen shorted it and sent it to customer service. Their response was what did you do wrong, like I don't know how to order 2 tickets and apply a gift code. Still arguing with them but I advise avoiding this 1.2 star rated business. I wish I would have checked the reviews first.

Do Better.

I have about 9 movies that I have purchased to stream from them. Most are very reasonably priced considering I paid triple for a movie ticket. I haven’t used Fandango for anything else and I agree with one review that it makes me kinda sad to see so many unhappy customers. I hope they take all of these reviews in consideration and make it right for all of you. Companies need to work harder on behalf of their customers. There are some oldies that I can’t find anywhere else. Do better!

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. I have purchased movies through there app and now they are locked down all because my IP address has changed it is going on a week and a half. All they say is your ticket has been escalated and our team is working on the case. Not happy with customer services at all and will not be going to any movie theater that is owned by this company.

Fandango will not give a Refund for their mistakes

I've used Fandango at home numerous times buying movies. I ordered two movies and was double charged for one. After numerous emails, showing them my bank statement, and jumping through hoops the admitted it and said they would reverse the charge. They didn't, so I wrote them back. Again they asked me for the bank statement and I provided. Then they wanted to go through the entire process again. I just told them to keep the 29.99 if it means that much to the business but I'll never purchase anything from them again. They may have saved 29.99 on me but they lost much more with the business I've provided for them. Stay clear because if they make a mistake, your out of luck.

Customer service? Yeah right

How do I rate zero stars? These guys are a joke. Trying to get a refund for movies tickets I canceled minutes after purchasing them. All I've received are automated responses about their policies and not once dealing with my issue specifically. I assume customer service is merely a bot that searches keywords and kicks out such automated responses. I won't deal with them ever again, it's not worth the convenience to buy tickets online, if you are only going to get screwed if there is a problem

BEWARE, Fandango stinks!

I purchase txs two weeks ago for a film I was excited to see, but got very sick and couldn't go. I requested a refund. They"exchanged" the txs for credit on my account and said I could use them for any movie, anytime. Today, I tried to use them for purchase and could not apply my credit!!! I called Customer Service only to get a runaround. Not only could I not use my credit, but escalation would take 5-7 days so for today, I am out of luck taking my kids to a movie using my credit. Absolute ROBBERY and lack of customer care. I wont ever use Fandango again and urge you not to as well.
