Instagram Support told me to contact my stalker myself
The most disturbing part of my experience with Instagram Support is that a support representative told me to contact the person who is stalking me and ask him to delete the photographs of me himself. I find this completely inappropriate and unsafe. A victim of stalking should not be expected to contact their stalker to resolve a privacy and safety violation on Instagram.
I reported Instagram because this person secretly photographed me without my knowledge or consent and uploaded photographs of me to Instagram. I explained the circumstances to Instagram Support and received case number #1367058228845329.
Instagram removed some of the content, but other photographs of me remain available. The same support representative also claimed that they could not recognize me in the remaining photographs, even though multiple people from my personal circle immediately recognized me.
I am extremely disappointed with how Instagram handled this situation. Instead of properly reviewing the remaining photographs and the circumstances in which they were taken and published, the support representative shifted the responsibility onto me and suggested that I contact the person who is stalking me.
I am requesting that Instagram/Meta conduct a proper human review of the remaining photographs, remove the unauthorized photographs, and review the handling of my support case.
I am also prepared to pursue this matter through appropriate legal channels. I have the ability to travel to the United States and, if necessary, pursue available legal remedies against the company regarding its handling of this privacy and safety complaint.
This is not simply a content moderation dispute. It concerns privacy, unauthorized photography, stalking and personal safety. Telling a person who is being stalked to contact the stalker themselves is an unacceptable way to handle a safety-related complaint.
Account locked after phone number change – ineffective and contradictory support
I am writing to report a serious issue regarding the lock on my Instagram account and the completely inadequate support I received in trying to resolve it.
My account was locked while attempting to update the phone number associated with it, switching from an old, no longer active number to a new one. Since then, I have been unable to access my account.
I tried contacting support through a second, verified account I own, but without obtaining any concrete solution.
Human support told me to simply wait for a certain amount of time, so the system's security measures would ease up on their own. When I instead contacted the AI assistant, I was told the exact opposite: that waiting would not solve anything, and that I needed to speak with a human agent. When I contacted human support again following this advice, I was left on hold for an extremely long time without receiving any real assistance.
As a result, my account remains permanently locked, since it is tied to a phone number I no longer have access to, and I have lost access to years of personal content and memories, including photos, videos, and conversations.
I am requesting that the account recovery process be reviewed for cases like this, and that the guidance provided by human support and the AI assistant be made consistent, so users are not bounced between contradictory answers without ever having their issue resolved.
THEY ARE STUPIDS
THEY ARE STUPIDS, STUPID PIGS, THEY BANNED ID FOR NO REASON, IT'S AN OLD ID BUT STILL THEY BANNED IT LIKE BITCHS.
I DO NOT DO ANYTHING IN MY ACCOUNT.
Remove this whole thing..
I can't inactive my account, I have to wait a week. Totally ridiculous!
Instagram/Meta: Identity Verification as a Subscription Trap
Over the past week, I verified my identity to Instagram a dozen times. Each attempt to access my account was met with the same demand: prove you're human, prove who you are. The cycle was relentless and clearly designed to wear me down.
Then it worked—but only after I subscribed to Meta Verified. Suddenly, the verification walls disappeared. I had access.
I canceled the subscription after 48 hours. Within an hour, Instagram demanded identity proof again. Another verification requirement appeared at my next login attempt. And the next.
The pattern is transparent: Instagram has weaponized account verification to upsell Meta Verified. It's not a security measure—it's a subscription enforcement mechanism. No other explanation accounts for why identity verification becomes urgent and constant the moment a paying subscription lapses, yet disappears entirely for subscribers.
This is predatory. It exploits account access anxiety to extract recurring payments. Instagram doesn't need daily identity proofs from paying customers for the same account that "failed" verification a dozen times. The difference isn't security; it's profit motive.
Meta is betting users will pay rather than endure the friction. That's the entire design. It's a scam dressed up as a security feature, and anyone who's experienced this cycle knows it.
Don't fall for it. Document everything, dispute the charges if you're billed incorrectly, and consider whether a platform this hostile to free users deserves your attention at all.

Algorithm is broken – Zero reach for 100% original content 🌟☆☆☆☆
I am extremely frustrated with the current state of Instagram. I create 100% authentic, original Reels, yet my reach and views have completely tanked to near zero.
My Account Status is perfectly clean. I have zero community guideline violations, zero copyright issues, and my account says it is eligible for recommendation. Yet, the algorithm refuses to push my content to followers or new audiences.
It feels like Instagram is suppressing smaller, organic creators to force us into paying for ads. Reporting the issue through "Report a Problem" does absolutely nothing but send automated responses. Fix your algorithm and start rewarding actual creators instead of burying our hard work for no reason.
My account was hacked a couple of days…
My account was hacked a couple of days ago, I received an email which is from their email address saying a request had been received asking to change my password. I confirmed it was not me. someone has now changed my user name slightly and the email address to their own. I’m assuming they have access to my photo’s etc now. I have spent hours trying to resolve this, chat bot help is totally useless. There is no other option to resolve this. If you value your data Do NOT USE!!!!
Absolute crap
Absolute crap. For some reason it happens to know what I’m talking about irl and shows me reels related to it, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS THING.
They are deceiving people by taking…
They are deceiving people by taking advance payments and then blocking us, providing no service whatsoever. They are complete scammers.
Not as Safe as It Seems
Even when I select “Not Interested,” Instagram still seems to show adult-related content indirectly. It may not always be explicit, but the recommendations can still contain suggestive or inappropriate content. The controls should do a much better job of respecting users’ preferences and keeping this type of content out of their recommendations.

Absolutely abysmal customer support and a completely broken AI security system.
I am the rightful owner of my Instagram account . I know my exact password, and I have full access to my Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) codes. I am NOT hacked.
However, because I logged in from a different device, Meta's broken "Security Checkpoint" system locked my account. It is now forcing me to receive a verification code sent to an obsolete, dead temporary email address that was deleted long ago.
The system is stuck in an infinite technical loop. There is NO "Try another way" button. There is NO option to use my 2FA app. Most importantly, there is ZERO human customer service to fix this glaring technical bug.
Meta is essentially holding my personal data and account hostage due to their own faulty programming, leaving legitimate users completely stranded. I demand that a human agent contact me at my provided email address to manually update my recovery email and bypass this broken checkpoint. Until then, this company deserves a 1-star rating for its total disregard for consumer data rights.

I have had my Instagram account for 10 years and have now been locked out of it for over three weeks after it was apparently compromised.
I have done everything Instagram has asked me to do, and more. I changed my password, I have access to my authenticator and can provide the authentication code, I have repeatedly gone through the identity/friend verification process, I have tried the account recovery process, I have reported the issue, I have attempted to log in on a different device that I have used before, and I have emailed an old support email. Despite all of this, I am still unable to access my own account and it is currently temporarily disabled.
The most frustrating part is the complete lack of customer support. There is no actual person I can contact to explain what is happening. Every recovery option simply sends me around in circles or redirects me to generic "I can't log in" articles that do absolutely nothing to resolve the problem.
I have now exhausted virtually every recovery option available to me, and I still have no way of speaking to anyone who can actually look at my account and help.
I understand that Instagram needs security measures to protect people's accounts. What I cannot understand is why there is apparently NO meaningful support available for legitimate users who get caught in the recovery system itself.
I have had this account for 10 years. It contains a decade of memories and conversations, and I may lose all of that simply because Instagram's automated recovery system cannot successfully verify me.
This is absolutely appalling customer service. The problem isn't just that I can't log in and the account is no longer visible, it's that there is seemingly nobody I can contact when the recovery system fails.
10 years lost to the worst customer service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing.
