Extremely Disappointed – Avoid This School (Upsold, No Refunds, Poor Communication, Unprofessional)

I paid in advance for a full month of private Spanish lessons for my husband and me. We specifically wanted private lessons for the two of us together with one teacher. Instead, the school charged us for two separate individual private lessons (a clear upsell) and refused any refund. They said we could combine into one shared class but only offered a credit for the price difference — not a full refund.
Communication was consistently terrible. They agreed to an orientation on Sunday but sent nothing. When I followed up on Saturday, they suddenly said it was only available Monday at 7am — despite our scheduled classes being 4-6pm. After multiple emails pushing back on the Sunday agreement, they finally offered 3:30pm the same day. It felt like constant time-wasting and last-minute changes.
The final straw was during class: 6-7 teachers were loudly cackling and chatting right nearby, making it impossible to hear my instructor (who was only speaking Spanish, as expected for immersion). I couldn’t learn anything in that environment. When I asked for a refund due to these issues, they again refused.
This experience was unprofessional from start to finish. We came to Antigua excited to learn, but it was a complete waste of money and time. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for serious, reliable Spanish instruction.

I registered my brother here in 2019 and paid $2,400 tuition plus a $150 registration fee. His US visa was denied before classes even started, and I told the school in person right away. Their own signed Refund and Cancellation Policy clearly states that if a student's F-1 visa is denied, all tuition paid will be refunded. That never happened.
For years afterward, I called, emailed, and visited their office in person, only to be told repeatedly "the manager isn't here." When I finally pushed hard enough, the owner hung up on me simply because I insisted on my rights. I have years of emails proving I followed up, including formal refund requests, and got nothing but silence.
When I posted a review about this elsewhere, they suddenly had a long, polite public response ready, full of claims that don't match what actually happened. Zero classes were ever taken. Their own contract guarantees a full refund in this exact situation, and they still haven't paid it.
I have the signed contract, the invoice, and years of email correspondence to back every word of this. Don't be fooled by the friendly tone — return my money.

I seriously advise you to get help elsewhere.

As a beginner of Spanish, this school was a wonderful starter. The teacher was patient and pretty much focused on helping me to be able to speak a few sentences. The staff was professional and very helpful in finding me outside activities including a long trip to the outskirts of Panama. For me, the home stay was nice and friendly. It was close enough to walk and Uber was relatively cheap.

I thoroughly recommend LCN to anyone thinking of taking a language course in another country, whether short or long, needing accommodation or not, young or older.

I had to postpone our original class registration and then changed the location of my class. Those changes went well. The only issue was the school didn't get the email showing I had made the payment. I had the email and that cleared up the confusion. It's not a complaint, you still deserve 5 stars!

This is a great platform to find a language course. I found an English course through here for my nephew and very happy with the outcomes. The course price is more affordable than directly from school, the customer service is excellent. Ana was extremely helpful to sort out the process. Would definitely recommend to everyone.
