My son got a hitachi tv from currys for he's birthday 13, after getting it home we found it had 3 blue pixels , so we took it back to get a refund , when we got there the sales person said we could only get a refund if hitachi reimbursed currys, I told them I didn't by the tv from hitachi I bought it from currys , they still would not give us our money back, then a very rude manger came over , and said sorry we can't do any thing about it , so while I was in the store I rang hitachi and they gave currys there number for reimbursement .. Now as was getting near store closing the manger told me she was unable to open the safe to pay the money back, which brought my son to tears. I knew she was lying so I said give me the money out of the tills, which she said she was unable to do, so I said I'm not leaving with out my money so she went away and came back with 300 pounds in coins , only becouse my son was so upset. I left .. Do not use currys if any thing gets a fault they will not give you your money back.
Don't expect any kind of useful service from these ex Dixons guys & gals. These are the reasons to buy anything from them - price, availabilty and most importantly, you know exactly what you want. Otherwise don't - you will only be disappointed. In January this year, I went into their MK store to look at a Blackberry Playbook, in order to see whether it met my needs. There was one on display, all wired up and ready to go and so, not unnaturally, I wanted to have a little tinker around with the touch screen and the on screen keyboard. Whilst I was attempting to do this, one of their sales staff came up - "I'd rather you didn't do that sir"- me - "I want to try some of the features out" sales rep -"well please don't, if you want to have a go please buy it first". Needless to say, I didn't buy my Playbook from Currys.digital.
As it happens, I was able to try it out elsewhere, without obligation and subsequently bought one online.
I've used Dixons Photographic many times in the past but only because I knew what I wanted and they just happened to have itin stock at a good price. Can't imagine why they are no longer on the high street and have been replaced by a reduced number of Currys.digital - they do say a leopard cannot change its sopts :-)
Recently visited a Currys.Digital store about buying a new microwave (£120). The sales advisor told me for an extra £4.50 per month, I can have a "What ever Happens Warranty" type of service. I declined this, and he told me "Well the first year we'll cover it, but after that if it breaks, it is cheaper to just come back and buy a new one, as the call out fee is £125". I asked him "What about the Sale of Goods Act, in that it should be fit for purpose and last for at least 6 years" he told me "No, that doesn't cover this product, we're an international company that act doesn't affect us" - Even the manager "backed up" this sales rep. To which I walked out. What a bunch of idiots.
