Been a fan for years and got the magazine religiously back in the day. Still think the articles are well written but the site is so loaded with ads and pop ups that it's borderline unusable. I understand the need for ads but these are so distracting and intrusive that reading well written articles is no longer an option. An absolute crying shame

Empire has been one the media stalwarts of the film industry for the past couple of decades, and has always offered in depth, articulate and balanced news, reviews and features.
The site (alongside the print magazine) is updated daily, and all new content hits the front page first before being archived. The front page is dynamic and includes a slider box that cycles through the latest features, interviews and podcasts, with the rest of the landing page dedicated to news and reviews.
The site also features a review archive, a features page, and user forum.
While the content on offer from Empire has maintained the quality that readers have come to expect, the site itself it starting to show its age, and has remained largely unchanged for at least the past five years (aside from a bit of cosmetic retouching). Pages load slowly, even more so if pictures are trying to load. The whole site needs an upgrade, which is long overdue.
The front end of the forums hasn't changed at all in several years, and the community there has died out a lot recently. This is a shame, particularly as the community was made up of a large number of creative types, many of whom were involved in the film industry in some capacity. Like anything, however, when a site is left to stagnate, inevitably regular users will begin to look elsewhere.
So, Empire continues to offer the best content, but it's online presence is in severe need of an update.
