We had a hard drive failure and Fields Data was able to recover the data for us. We found the price a bit steep--$800 rather than the $199 in the ads, but they were willing to work on a private and non-corporate issue. We had quotes of $2000 just to diagnose the problem from more corporately oriented companies. We sent in our hardware and we got the diagnostic and results as promised. However communication was not all it could be--results could only be viewed with Chrome browser or Safari--and that was not specified. Once we knew this, we could see from their report that the data we were interested in was recovered, and we happily gave them our credit card. But we were not informed that by paying with a credit card we would incur a overseas transaction fee because the charge was by a British bank, so $25.00 was added to the $819 quoted which we were not expecting. Had we known this we might have chosen another kind of payment. We gave them authority to charge our card on 1/14/2014, but we did not receive our data. We called the recovery specialist using a cell phone he was not familiar with he answered and told us that his office had had a hard drive failure of their own. Once again he promised to send the data. When we got our credit card statement without any e-mail that the data had been shipped, we disputed the charge. The next day, we had an e-mail that the data had been shipped, and 4 days later we got the DVD with the data. We then un-disputed the charge. On the whole, our experience was positive with regard to performance, unsatisfactory with regard to communication, and OK with regard to cost. The specialist tried to blame delays on our only having given him a PO Box, but we were never asked for a physical address. We had asked to have the data shipped with tracking info but this was not done. Finally the data arrived by USPS priority mail about 2 days after we were told to expect it. All our mail comes to a PO Box. Even the UPS drivers occasionally drop packages off at the post office for our PO Box. On the whole, our experience was positive with regard to performance, unsatisfactory with regard to communication, and OK with regard to cost. The company delivered on its promises finally, and possibly under pressure. They could work on their communication with customers would be our main criticism, but on the whole we would recommend them.
My 2010 mac book pro suddently crashed 2 months ago. I could not start and the laptop can not locate the hard drive. Tried diskUtils, diskworrior4, and terminal, but still could repair the disk. Even worse, the disk had the sound of "death of clicks" which strongly indicated a physical error. Contacted a local disk recovery company and gave me quote of over 2k. Later I contacted Fields Data Recovery, and Todd was nice to answer all my questions. I sent my wrecked toshiba hard drive to them and after 20 days (a bit long) Todd sent me a link which contained all my lost&found files. The original file hierachy had been destroyed so I could only tell by searching results. The final price was much cheaper than the local company. I got a backup harddrive about 1 week after payment, and I had to spend 2 hours to search all disorded directories (without names) to get my data back. It is a bit annoying, but I did get most of my needed data back.
Todd and his team are great. They answered all questions I had. Kept me updated through the whole process. They had the cheapest price around and were the only one of three places that could get the information(98%). They saved the first 8 months of our baby pictures. I would use Todd again and recommend him to anyone.
When you lose your data, it is a nightmare. When you lose your back-up data too, it is a catastrophe. That's what happened to me - at the same time. I was sick. None of my area computer shops would touch it. All told me it was lost and unless I wanted to spend multiple thousands, to just forget it. I hit the net and after talking with ten, or so, services, I came across Fields Data Recovery. I called. Fully expecting the same routine that I had gotten from the other outfits, I was taken aback to say the least. These guys were easy to talk to, courteous, confident, and most reasonable. They were not pompous, patronizing, nor condescending. I asked how they could do it so much cheaper. Their reply was basically we do more recovery than anyone else, we have perfected methodology, and we don't gouge just because we could. Fair enough. I sent them my hard drive. The preliminary report was not looking good at all. Told me the damage was extensive and that it might cost more. I thought the bait-n-switch routine. Wrong! They got 99.14% of my data (47.5 GB) and billed me less than their maximum "normal" rate - not more! They are professional, experienced, well priced, and know what they are doing. I hope I never, ever need them again. But, should that occur, well, let's just say, I have them on speed dial. Do I recommend them? In a heart beat, without any reservation, or equivocation. If I may, I'd like to especially thank Todd. Todd Taylor was my account manager. I also want to thank the whole team.
Here is my personal story: I contacted this company after my HDD drop from my bedside table and stopped working, doing that damn click noise. I took my own to their office for a first diagnosis. 2 days later I received an email confirming that they received my HDD. WHAT??? (shouldn't it be registered in that moment?). 4 days after that email (already 6), I got another email saying something like "the write-reading head stopped reading and must be replaced". (I already knew that, that's why I sent it. I accepted doing the first payment (they don´t do anything unless you pay first, I guess is their policy to thief you safely). The guy who spoke to me about the diagnosis and charge me the payment was "very nice", because that was the last time I heard about him. In his email, he said my HDD would be done in between 4-7 working days. I gave them my HDD on December the 12th, 2013 and on January the 6th, 2014 (almost a month later), I CALLED (they never did) to ask what was going on. The man who replied said he had no idea, and that the person who was in charge of my problem would call me ASAP (that was 9:00am). Until 5:00pm I didn't get any call back, so I called again...NO ONE REPLIED. When I went back home I found that after 5:00pm, they guy sent me an email saying "unfortunately your HDD can't be fixed". And that's it. Here is my opinion: 1. They didn't care at all after they got the payment. 2. I honestly doubt they even opened the HDD. If so, might be someone really unprofessional who did the work. 3. They should send an explanation describing every single process and the result, don't you think so? 4. If I wouldn't call, I could probably be waiting until March? June? October? 5. I did the payment and until today I haven't received any letter with my receipt, which is illegal. I have the proof in my bank statement. 6. They haven´t tried to contact me to talk to me, just the poor, brief email I mentioned above. 7. I'm wondering when are they going to call me to ask me about going to pick my HDD" (which is meant to be in the laboratory, not in the office).
I truly believe that this company is a kind of fraud. I guess the people they talk really good about them, they just had really minor problems, which they can be sorted with many free software over the net. If any of you guys have a "major" or more difficult problem, I won't recommend you wasting your money in this company.
I've already asked for an interview with a lawyer because I'm thinking about suing them.
It's very hard to think about sending your hard drive, with all your info to someone you don't know, but so glad I sent to Fields Data Recovery. After talking with Todd, felt comfortable I could trust them with my data! These guys recovered exactly everything I needed/wanted (pictures, music, and important data!! Thank you!
When I had tried everything I could to recover the Raid and the data I could not, our client had lost hope of recovering their patient records and images. I found on the internet a recovery company Fields Data Recovery and thought I have nothing to lose. I called and spoke with Todd and he was very nice and explained what they would do to recover the data, I then sent the hard drives to them and in a short period of time they had compiled a list of files that could be recovered from the raid. It was amazing out of 770,000 objects we were able to put back together 669,000 of those object into useable data in our system which equates to a loss of only 200 studies out of 47,000 studies. In the future if I have any data that needs recovered I know we have a dependable partner that we call turn to.
I dropped my external hard drive just a few inches but that is all it took to lose all my family photos, all the pictures of the quilts I have made for the last 20 years, all my quilt patterns etc etc. But on my birthday I contacted Todd at Fields Data Recovery and he gave me the best birthday present possible. Data recovery worked with me to find an affordable solution to the problem and promptly saved my data on DVD's and and returned ALL my files to me. They did not lose a single piece of data. This is a very good, honest, reliable company and Todd is GREAT at customer service. I hope I don't need them again (I'm making backups) but will recommend them to anyone who does.
The folks at Fields Data Recovery handled my problem with extreme professionalism throughout the whole process. I was very happy knowing they were able to recovery my valuable data from a very troublesome hard drive. I certainly would recommend their services to anyone needing this service.
I received very good, reliable, fast recovery of my data from a defective hard drive. I would have liked for it to have cost a little less, but it did not go over the quoted price and was delivered to me in a timely manner. I got good service from Fields Data Recovery Service. Thanks.
As so many of us do, I didn't back up the flash drive I had used to store lesson plans I, as a teacher, had poured hours into making. Low and behold, it happened to me and the flash drive died! As a last desperate resort, I contacted Todd and within a few minutes he responded to my email. I mailed the flash drive to it, within a couple days he gave me an estimate, and soon it was smooth sailing once again. They saved all the files I thought were lost to me forever and were there to lead me through any questions along the way. They were courteous and great to work with at all times. Well worth the money! But now I have learned to stop procrastinating and back my important files up!
The office was close to our operation, and the company and web site gave your the feeling that they would be quick at performing their service, they were not. Gave approval to do the recovery on Monday, promised it would be done on Wednesday, was not. Was then promised for Friday. On Thursday i asked to pick up whatever was done. They said they call back on friday with detail. no call. i called on friday, not done, no partial available. called on Monday AM not done. Finally they called monday afternoon and said it was done. picked up late monday afternoon .
Although the files I truly needed were corrupt, I still experienced a very high quality of service that left me feeling good about the whole thing. The whole process was seamless and the data that was recovered was in tact and prepared very nicely. All communication was incredible and prompt. The price was very competitive and they will do the best they can. Thank you again for a great service.
