too many unjustified charges
Overall, the rental experience was average. However, there are too many unjustified charges. I paid for ALL parking at the designated facilities, yet they are arbitrarily charging me for them a second time on my card.
They re still trying to charge my card over and over.
Terrible service at Hertz Gold
Terrible service at Hertz Gold, Oslo Airport. When I arrived, nobody was at the desk. The staff stayed behind the scenes, speaking only Arabic or an Indian language among themselves, making communication with customers extremely difficult. After a very long wait, I was finally given a car that was extremely dirty. No assistance and no solution—just a dirty car and unacceptable service.
Stay away from Hertz
Booked a car through booking.com with pick up at Bergen Airport at 11 AM. Everything pre-paid through booking.com and online check in done on the day before. Arriving at 12.15 the Hertz employee informed me that I was 15 minutes late and that they had cancelled my reservation. Further, she referred to booking.com for any complaints and did not show any interest in finding a solution. I have never experienced such behaviour with any other rental car company and I can only advice all to not use Hertz and not use booking.com for rentals.

Received a dirty car and when we returned it and Hertz washed it, they "discovered" two tiny scratches and charged us 4000NOK. Total scam
Sola airport
Sola airport. Thanks to the polish girl and guy who worked there, but never ever book ev, specially Tesla. I booked Tesla just to avoid ysong other charging tesla to avoid all that mambo jambo with 500 noks reserve for each charging session, but the guys drom Herz sypport told me, read carefully now, «u can not charge Teslas from Herz on Teslas stations. Also he told me that i can use other stations with «Elton» but again Circle K dont work with Elton too. Just terrible and stresfull exp.

Everything seemed fine until I returned…
Everything seemed fine until I returned home and then have had 3 payments taken from my credit card by Hertz Norway. The first payment was fine, it related to Car Charging, ferries, tolls etc. Then a second payment was taken for a parking fee together with a large service charge, even though we had been told that parking payments were taken automatically. A third payment has been taken for Autopass although we were not informed that this standard item was not part of the car rental.

Horrible experience at Hertz Oslo central station.
STAY AWAY
Customer service is non existant, car was dirty, office on the phone closed by 3pm so could not even ask why the car was not cleaned before handed over to us, with hair and biscuits all over.
Then, as a bonus we got an email that we damaged the car few weeks later. Although nothing happened while we were having the car. Luckily we were having full insurance but still I don't think it's fair it's falling on us and took weeks to resolve the matter. Such a waist of time and energy! Don't use Hertz in Norway

I can’t believe how awful Hertz Norway…
I can’t believe how awful Hertz Norway was. I got a post rental bill that was supposed to include tolls, and instead included random unexplained charges, including as far as I can tell insurance I explicitly rejected (it’s covered on my card). I emailed them SIX times and got no response. Now I have to waste hours challenging these fraudulent charges via my credit card (it tells you all you need to know that they won’t respond). The location is understaffed and their agents couldn’t care less, indifference bordering on contempt. I asked explicitly for information on charging the EV (the first time I used one) and they gave NOTHING (I even had to figure out there were cables in the trunk). The car had a very limited range, and in rural Norway almost none of the chargers take credit cards directly. I had to waste half days of my trip trying to find chargers that would work, charging, driving across bridges and tolls roads over and over just to find a charger before I ran out. Whatever minor amount you might save on the rental will not be worth it. Rent anywhere else.
Quoted service did not include VAT
The one additional service that I got a quote for omitted, it later emerged, VAT at 25%. Also a handling charge is applied for road rolls. Otherwise all good.
Severe Odometer/Mileage Entry Error – Check Your Invoices Immediately!
I recently rented a VW ID.3 from Thrifty/Hertz at Oslo Lufthavn (Agreement: 84-802468-2). The overall rental experience was smooth until I received the final invoice (Invoice No: 12605183857). The return staff at the airport made a massive typographical error, entering my return mileage as 45,829 km instead of the actual 45,029 km—creating an artificial 800 km excess charge! My actual 3-day travel itinerary was strictly local (Oslo, Lysaker, and Vestby), totaling less than 250 km, which is well within my 600 km contract limit. Yet, due to a careless typo at 07:07 AM during return, Thrifty wrongfully charged my credit card an extra 1,145.00 NOK (plus VAT). I have already submitted a formal dispute with full Google Maps Timeline GPS logs as irrefutable proof, and I am demanding that they pull the vehicle's internal telematics to correct this clerical scam.Warning to everyone renting from Hertz/Thrifty Norway: Always take a photo of your odometer dashboard both at pick-up and drop-off. Do not trust the staff's manual entries, or you will end up fighting wrongful charges just like me. I expect a prompt response and a full refund from management.
It's a shame I can't leave ZERO stars
It's a shame I can't leave ZERO stars! They overcharged me for recharging the car - luckily I had photographic evidence so they had to refund me but it still wasted my time. Now, 6 weeks later they have just charged me 3664 NOK (£295GBP) for two slight scratches on wheel trims which I didn't do and they can't prove that I did! Norway was generally good but if this is how their companies treat tourists, I won't go back :(

I have never had this bad rental… even at countries like spain en greece they have better than hertz in Oslo.
They dont keep the agreement what you have booked and payed. They just rip you of whit all kind of nonsense. We didt get the car either we booked… we booked SUV 4 x4 but got normal car. It was ok car but nog what we booked. We wanted higher car and 4 x 4 because of the roads… Ive heard lot of bad reviews about oslo car rental and unfortunately they are true. Im never ever going to fly oslo again and rent a car… I think the rest of rental agencies are even bad.

Very mixed feelings about this company
Very mixed feelings about this company. Rented a car in Bodø, flight was delayed, called in and they just put the keys in a self-service locker. Great service there. Car was good too.
Electric car, second day I made the mistake of turning off the engine waiting for a ferry with heating and music on, expecting it to run on the main battery. The accu died in half an hour and the car wouldn't start. Assistance was there within half an hour (I was still in Bodø) and was was very helpful.
Their 'Hertz payment' through the charging app never worked, so I used my own credit card. I even needed to help some other drivers set it up because they had the same problems.
Then, the last day I had a small hit and two scratches. Returned the car, and was the charge was more than my deductible of 20000 NOK. I waited for them to take it out of my credit card as stated on the bills, but nothing happened. Then, they sent a collection agency after me. I tried contacting me, but no response. After paying the collection agency (I preferred credit card because of insurance) and sending a bit of a rude email to them, I received an instant response if they could help in any other way.
Not a bad agency, but very bad customer service after the rental and high damage costs.
Worst customer service ever
I booked a car one month in advance. Yet on the pickup day we had to wait for over 2 hours at Tromsø airport because our car wasn't ready. The staff was more busy chitchatting with each other and was not helpful at all. They kept saying that the car would soon be here.
We returned the car a day earlier because we wouldn't need it anymore. Yet Hertz had the audacity to charge us with airport parking fees - which they refused to remove from the invoice (even though the staff told us to return the car to the same parking P3 where we picked it up). They said that I had to prove that I returned the car earlier - which is ridiculous because they don't hand you out any form of receipt when you return the car. Some sleep head at the counter probably just booked the car in hours later. Even after several email correspondence with Hertz customer service they wouldn't remove the charges. Moreover, they have really hefty administration fees on top when they charge you parking fees. This is a real rip-off shop! Never again!
Charge more and do not refund the difference
I got a car reservations months before my trip. At the Tromso airport I waited an hour to get on the line to pick my car and they did not have any cars left! Because I was a gold member they gave me a "free" upgrade of the car but charged me + 1000 NOK additionally. Then the invoice came out and it is more than 300 NOK from what I have been charged. For more than 2 weeks no refund for the remaining amount and they do not even bother answering my email.
My experience with Hertz was absolutely…
My experience with Hertz was absolutely terrible. I have rented cars from many companies in different countries, and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had.
The customer service was extremely poor. The staff were unhelpful, dismissive, and unwilling to clearly explain the charges. What frustrated me the most was the extra money they added without proper explanation. As a customer coming from another country, I felt taken advantage of. It honestly felt like they were adding unnecessary fees simply because I was a foreigner.
The pricing was not transparent at all. The final amount I had to pay was much higher than what was originally presented. There were hidden charges and unexpected costs that were never clearly communicated in advance.
I strongly advise others, especially international travelers, to be very careful before booking here. Do not be fooled like I was. There are many better rental companies with fair prices and honest service. This was a very disappointing experience, and I will never rent from them again.
No Caution back!!!!!!
They not gave me my Caution of 5000NOK back!! Without any reason, no damage. Costumer Service send always just the same, not helpful, email back. I wait already 6 weeks, now I must contact an lawyer about. So bad, never have this experience with an car rental.
Very poor experience
We had a very disappointing experience with Hertz at Tromsø Airport.
After landing, we queued at the kiosk for around 45 minutes, despite only a few customers ahead of us. One staff member was extremely slow while another processed multiple customers in the same time.
We had booked a Toyota Yaris Cross, but after finally reaching the desk, we were told the car was suddenly “not available” and given a different vehicle with minimal explanation.
We were then instructed to walk to Zone P, which turned into a 10-minute walk on icy roads with suitcases, with unclear directions. The car park signage was confusing, and we had to ask other people for help.
When we finally located the car, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. It was obvious the vehicle had not been properly inspected or cleaned, which is completely unacceptable for a rental company.
At that point, returning to the airport desk meant another long walk, another queue, and more delay — so we tried calling and using online chat instead. No response, no support.
More like moderne "mafia", stay away!
It is unclear whether the issue is poor communication at Hertz Molde, inadequate customer service training, or a more fundamental lack of cognitive awareness. Either way, there appears to be no middle ground: you are either open and available to customers or closed. Customers who have booked in advance should reasonably expect staff to be present, attentive, and prepared.
While it is understandable that staff may have multiple tasks, this does not excuse the failure to be available when customers arrive at the scheduled time. A booking creates an obligation to be present and responsive.
Customers should not be asked to return only to be told that there are no routines for locating lost property, or that items may have been discarded. Any lost items should be properly logged and handed in to Avinor or the police, not treated casually or irresponsibly.
Warning lights illuminated, incorrect tyre pressure, and electric vehicles not sufficiently charged are all typical. especially when embarking on long journeys. No one expects to receive a petrol or diesel car with only 70% fuel, and the same standard must apply to electric vehicles. An inadequately charged EV is not fit for purpose and creates unnecessary trouble for the customer.
Overall, Hertz Molde demonstrates a lack of professionalism, poor routines, and little consideration for customers' time, safety, or expectations. Significant improvements are required in both customer service and operational discipline. Stay away!
