I have been recovering from a brain injury the past 7 years. Ups and downs has made running my business very difficult but somehow kept things going.
This past year I have had significant set backs but now I am back on the up and up. I have to start from scratch and let go most of my team. I can't imagine doing this without WPMUDEV! Because of my health issues it is difficult to put a full days work in, especially working on a new website project. Without WPMUDEV, I couldn't produce the kind of sites my clients need in the time they need it and in the high standard we expect.Their tools has saved me and my clients tons of time and money and I am able to continue building my business professionally in spite of the TBI!

I am by no means a professional web developer, but I am motivated to learn and I'm not exactly a newbie. After trying several different paid subscriptions to various web-based services or applications, I was hesitant to pay for another. I had been nothing but disappointed in the quality of the previous services and applications -- they may have advertised that they did what I wanted but they were complicated to learn or use, less-than-appealing to look at, and very limited in the scope of available services or options.
Then I stumbled upon WPMU Dev. I considered buying just the services I was looking for (e.g. membership site plugin, maybe a theme or two) but my timing was perfect to catch a sale and I decided to try one more time. I'm so glad I did!
Not only did WPMU Dev offer fast replies to any emails or questions I sent, they have a complete forum that contains many of the answers I was looking for with an interactive community that helps get people suggestions, tips, ideas, and real help faster and more consistently, plus the forum section is limited to those logged in which reduces irrelevant posts that can clutter the threads and make finding answers unnecessarily difficult. That type of fast help and forum community is the same reason I've stuck with the same web host for over 6 years, since I started.
The WPMU Dashboard is very easy to add to an existing Wordpress site. Previous services I had tried were not easy to upload, I would almost always have to log into my host account, go to the website files and add the plugins or applications manually, which is a hassle especially for those with less formal training in development. WPMU Dev's dashboard files uploaded in seconds right through the Wordpress Dashboard and once activated, everything was set and usable instantly.
You can click click click your way through the options for plugins with links to learn more about each, so that saves tons of time since you don't have to search for the help or user guides. The themes are very attractive, though basic enough that anyone can use them fully. Every theme I've tried has allowed me to customize, though some to a greater extent than others. There are MANY tools that others can appreciate, such as marketing and ECommerce-type plugins, social networking and chat plugins, ad words and Google-related tools to help maximize efforts in tracking user behaviors and trends, and this is just scratching the surface of what's available!
The main thing I was looking for in the beginning was the ability to add a membership service to some of my websites. I wanted something that allowed me to add different membership levels, control content access, charge for some memberships, add PayPal so payments would be easy, etc. The membership tools from WPMU Dev make this wicked easy (yup... from Boston... I say "wicked"). They offer a range of payment options, but I just stick with PayPal because that's what I know. And the best part is that I pay one annual subscription fee to WPMU Dev and I can put the WPMU Dev Dashboard on ALL of my wordpress sites and use the tolls on ALL of my sites, without any fuss. I have not found anything that compares to WPMU Dev as far as "user friendly" goes. In fact, within the first year of joining, I transitioned about 80% of my websites to wordpress sites just so I could use the WPMU Dev tools even more.
I'm a professional writer and when I love a product I could easily go on for thousands of words talking about every detail. With the WPMU Dev membership and tools, I can't recommend them enough to fully express how much the support has helped make a difference in my Wordpress experience. I already had some basic self-taught skills with design and coding, but not on the level of most I'd interact with on the subjects and even at my relative beginner-level I do not feel at all like an outsider when I interact in the forums. More importantly, when I ask questions I don't feel like my questions are stupid or irrelevant -- There has always been someone ready and willing to provide help and it's that sense of community and support that makes me feel welcome as a WPMU Dev subscriber. It's also very empowering when I need help, someone gives a suggestion, and I'm able to implement the advice and get the result I was hoping for all along.
If you're new to Wordpress, I can relate... it's frustrating at times, I know. I've tried other services and tools and nothing has compared to what WPMU Dev has to offer. It's the only subscription I now maintain and it's the only one I will likely ever use. Those that aren't new to Wordpress or who may have Jedi-level development skills -- it's definitely worth seeing what WPMU Dev has to offer. The tools can save a lot of time to help speed up your turnaround and improve your ability to help clients, as well.
No matter what level you're at, WPMU Dev has something to offer, and then some!
Being somewhat of a newbie to wordpress... I was looking for an e-commerce plugin that wouldn't slow down my site, but also looked fantastic. I was able to get that with WPMU DEV Marketpress plugin. I've been using it for 2 years now and have referred lots of people over to WPMU DEV to get their hands on it. I LOVE IT!
It makes no difference if you are a WordPress pro looking for some powerful tools to add to your war chest or if you just installed WP for a blog, the WPMU Dev plan has just what you need. I have been using their service for over two years now and I have simply been blown away by the value offered by their staff and development team. Don't look around for other plugin or template sites, just give them a try and I promise you won't look back.
Support is important and when it comes to the ever changing versions and updates to the WordPress open source content management system, it is VERY important. If you are like myself, you have purchased many WP plugins and in many cases you will get updates for a version or two of WordPress, but then when the plugin is not new and not selling like crazy the support staff seems to disappear altogether. This is a common experience, but not what you will find here. The fact that they run a community filled with WP experts and have a large developer staff, means you get updates on every plugin and each is compatible with all future updates to WordPress guaranteed. This alone makes the subscription to this service.
Unlimited site features come out of the box here too. Just install the WPMU Dev Dashboard to your WordPress site and then you can add themes, plugins and even mobile functionality with ease. This is one of the easiest and fastest ways to dress up a web site for a client or just make your blog stand out from the crowd.
The support team is really what makes this site stand out from any other like it. I have asked for help with many different issues. Some of them were with integrating plugins and sometimes I just needed some help with WordPress in general. Either way, I have always received a quick response from the staff and in most cases have been offered more than one solution within minutes. The support team here truly is phenomenal and they have went out of their way to help me succeed with any web site changes I could throw at them.
At this point it kind of goes without saying, but the WPMU Dev subscription is highly recommended and if you are just in need of a single plugin, they do have this option as well. However, I think you would be doing yourself a huge injustice to stop there! With one subscription, you can have a team of developers ready to help you make the perfect WordPress site time and time again!
Being an online and offline developer and consultant means that I need to make sure I team up with the right people. Ensuring that I can provide the best service to my clients means depending heavily on the right tools to use. There are way too many "shiny objects" being sold on the market today. The problem consultants and developers face with "shiny object mania" lack of support, compatibility and ongoing development. Premium Wpmudev is a godsend for anyone who is heavily involved with WordPress and website development. Their tools are top notch, their customer support both Live and peer based is in my opinion outstanding.
As consultants we work hard to develop a reputation with our clients, period. We are willing to invest in plugins that are functional and reliable. The keyword in all this is RELIABLE. There is nothing worse then buying something only to discover a few weeks or months later that its obsolete, conflicting with other new WordPress updates and now the developer has disappeared or no longer provides updates. I personally find that to be the biggest problem with all the WSO, FSO, deals out there.
Premium Wpmudev offers a library of current up-to-date plugins that will always be supported by the developers. If you have a problem, there is network of members, support staff and developers there to help you. Imagine you are a single person in your company and you suddenly have a team of hundreds of people to help you with the simplest to the most difficult tasks. Now image you are trying to find solutions for your client and you can tap into a wealth of knowledge from all the peers at Premium Wpmudev and the staff.
Imagine being able to depend day in, day out on quality plugins and support that is current with the latest WordPress updates. The cost if you were to go out and purchase even just 50 plugins out of maybe 300 plus top end plugins would be at very expensive, not to mention access to 24/7 support from like minded people included the developers themselves. . I calculated that the cost of tapping into the equivalent of one year of Premium Wpmudev membership out there was actually more than 1500.00 per year on the low end. The truth is I depend more on the people at Wpmudev then I do with any other group out there. I use to be one of those consultants who use to jump on the "shiny object mania" and time after time I was disappointed at the low quality of product and support.
I can not say that about Wpmudev, and will recommend them to everyone I know who is providing their clients with WordPress solutions . . .I do keep this a secret from my competitors, especially when I have their clients switch over to my services. OOPS!
Bottom line, get a Premium Wpmudev membership, whether its a month by month or annual, you will not regret it at all. Stop wasting your hard earned money on those plugin developers who only care about how much money they can suck out of you. Reputation is a hard thing to build and but it will quickly go viral in a local community when you fail your client. Is it worth it just to save a few dollars. I don't think so . . .
