I learned that KEH was coming to Richmond camera. I had been thinking that I wanted to move from a good point and shoot to a DSLR so I could take better pictures with ease. I had researched the alternatives and had settled on one of the Nikon entry level cameras. I got a decent price from KEH for my camera and Richmond Camera added 10% to this. Buying a one generation behind DSLR saved me even more... and then the RC assistant suggested I could sell the "kit" lens I did not need or want to KEH. They did! The result was a very good buy aided by KEH and a very helpful person at Richmond Camera. Thank you everyone.
Late In 2013 I ordered a 120- 400mm Telephoto Lens that I thought was compatible with my Canon EOS Rebel Camera body. I wanted it for wildlife pictures on an upcoming trip. I got a call to confirm the order. When I gave the specifics of my model, I had ordered a non-compatible lens. The representative discussed the choices I had and steered me to the most economical but quality and value choice, a Sigma Lens. It was incredible! The close ups I got of penguins, seals, orcas and seabirds were simply amazing. Primotronix is an online camera site that still really provides excellent customer service.
Primotronix has low prices, but don't order from them if you don't want to lose your money and get nothing in return. They informed me that an item would be shipped in the next 24-72 hours, then for 7 weeks I did not receive it, nor did I receive any shipping or tracking information. I made many calls and received many conflicting explanations from them. Finally after that time had expired they informed me that their overseas partner had shipped the item incorrectly, and they agreed to issue me a full refund on September 9. Over two weeks later, I had received no refund, and was compelled to follow up with the Better Business Bureau. They promised to issue a refund within 2 weeks, but did not do so. I called them and filed a *second* complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and they promised for a third time to issue a refund. It is now November 3 and they still have not issued a refund, holding my $800 hostage for over 3 months - it is increasingly evident that I will not recover my money unless I take them to court.
Primotronix provides support by phone, not by email or chat, their support hours are extremely limited (11am-5pm, Mon-Thu), and on one occasion I was on hold for over an hour. They were closed two of four Thursdays in September, further limiting their hours. They made me promises several times about providing shipping information by email and then never did. For about 3 weeks they claimed everything was proceeding normally. After that, they gave me contradictory messages about what was going on, ranging from a backorder (which they later denied) to a direct shipment from Japan (which I never authorized - I requested 7-10 day domestic shipping during checkout). After 5 weeks, they gave me a delivery date of September 5th, but the item never arrived.
They are extremely sensitive about negative reviews, once becoming angry with me about this one, and tried to bribe me with a 3-year warranty to change it. Later on, upon issuing me a refund, they said they would "make sure I was not charged a restocking fee" and that my refund would be "processed quickly" if I posted a "favorable review." I stick to my guns, and sure enough, months later, I have no refund. This is blackmail! This sinister manipulation of their online reputation makes me wonder how many other negative reviews they've made disappear.
Primotronix goes far beyond mere incompetence: they are untrustworthy, deeply immoral and manipulative, and quite possibly criminal. Forget you ever saw them.
09/11 Ordered a camera from Primotronix. 09/16 the charge hit my credit card 09/18 I was informed that the camera was shipped the previous day 09/23 they could not provide a tracking # 09/24 Steve told me that it was shipped from overseas and they could not provide a FedEx tracking # until it lands in the US sometime next week. 09/30 Steve told me that it should be arriving next week 10/07 Reggie informs me that their distributor was unable to ship it, and they would refund my $$ within 7 days 10/17 refund still has not arrived, Jeffrey informs me that it takes 7-10 dyas for the refund to process 10/23 Refund still has not arrived, Jeffrey informs me that they processed the refund on 10/18 (11 days AFTER I was told I would have my $$ back in 7 days) Jeffrey also informed me that they didn't refund my money for eleven days after the order was canceled because the credit card companies allow them to wait 30 days.
DO NOT give these liars your money or credit card information!"
I ordered a camera from them but haven't heard anything since they tried to upgrade me on a battery because they CLAIM that the canon battery is only 20 mins.. are u kidding? I've called them and emails probably well over 20+ times.. NO ANSWER.. no tracking, nothing. I actually got someone his name is BEN.. hes in sales, he will NOT talk to u about customer service or billing or anything else.. if you say you have an issue, he just transfers you without saying anything or while you're even talking.. then when you try to call back it won't ring... but when i call back from a different number it rings and he does the same thing. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM
Very shady, very disappointing experience. Never recieved my camera and needed to have VISA force a refund to get my money back.
I ordered a Nikon D5100 from Primotronix in early September, using their 7-9 business day shipping + 24-72 hour processing option. Within 24 hours I recieved a call suggesting I upgrade batteries because I'd be disappointed in the life of the standard one. After rejecting the upsell, they assured me the item would be on its way shortly. Three days after ordering I recieved an e-mail stating the order was being dispatched from the warehouse. This is where things started to go south.
Two weeks after the last e-mail I called to follow-up on the order. I was hung up on twice before reaching an agent. They checked the status and said I'd get a FedEx tracking number two days later (a Wednesday) and it would be delivered on the following Monday. This was a lie. Three days went by, and no tracking number. I called the day I'd been told it would arrive, to hear the rep telling me it hadn't been shipped yet but would be by the end of the week. This was long outside the maximum 12 business day processing + shipping their site guaranteed, so I asked to cancel my order. I was hung up on.
Please beware when ordering. The price I saw for this camera that looked too good to be true turned out too good to be true.
I ORDERED A NIKON CAMERA ON SEPT 13. I WAS TOLD IT WAS IN STOCK AND WOULD SHIP IN 7 - 10 DAYS. IT NEVER DID. I WAS EMAILED THEN PHONED ON SEPT 30 TO INFORM ME THAT THE CAMERA HAD JUST ARRIVED AND DO I STILL WANT IT. I WAS UPSET TO GET THIS NEWS AS I WAS NOT INFORMED THAT IT WASN'T IN STOCK, BUT SAID YES AND WAS GUARANTEED IN WOULD BE DELIVERED BY OCT 4TH. AGAIN IT NEVER ARRIVED. I'VE BEEN CALLING ALL DAY TODAY ONLY TO BE PUT ON HOLD, NO ONE EVER ANSWERING THE PHONE CALL.. I AM NOT SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THIS COMPANY HAS A 'F' RATING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I ONLY WISHED I HAD INVESTIGATED THEM BEFOREHAND. STAY AWAY, DO NOT BUY FROM, AVOID AT ALL COSTS
1) Called 2 days after my order to try to sell me an over-priced battery with strong arm tactics and a completely rude person. 2) Charged me right away, before shipping the product 3) Product had not shipped after 12 days. 4) 3 attempts to contact customer service on hold 20 minutes each time 5) Sent an email to customer service asking for information regarding my order, response was a note telling me to call the customer service line. 6) Had to call the bank to cancel the order. These people don't care one bit about their customers.
I decided to upgrade from an older Canon DSLR to a Canon T3i, so I placed an order via the website primotronix.com on September 12th for that camera, body only. I received a call the next day asking if I wanted an upgraded battery or a memory card, and I replied that I did not. Fortunately it was not high pressured as some people report. The guy I spoke with did inform me that it was a "gray market" import, and that the order would be processed immediately. Before this call (but after I had already placed the order), I read the reviews for this company and decided to go ahead with the order and exercise some patience in order to received a better deal. Bad idea.
My credit card was charged on September 14th. On the 16th I emailed customer service just to inquire about when I would receive a tracking number (I guess I just wanted peace of mind that it actually had been shipped, even if I knew I was in for a month-long wait.)
I received this reply: You have requested our free ground shipping service, please allow 10 to 12 Business days from the time your order has been processed to receive your package. Your order was processed on September 15, 2013. Once your package reaches the first checkpoint, you will be issued a tracking number.
I did not receive a tracking number, so a week later I called and actually spoke with someone, who told me that it was processed on the 16th and had left the country of origin (which was never specified to me), and that I would receive a tracking number when it reached the US.
Today is October 1st, still no tracking number, and needless to say, no camera.
I have emailed them once more, and have decided to go ahead and warn others not to waste their time with this company. I can handle having to wait. I just want a bit of honest, better communication; and now I am wondering if I should try to cancel the order through the company and get the run around, or if I should just go ahead and call my credit card company. I guess I will give them until the end the week and call my credit card company.
If you want to order from PrimoTronix, just don't.
EDIT: The response to my email was to call the customer service number, which is simply not satisfactory. No answers, no communication.
I went ahead and contacted my credit card company and had them reverse the charges, and I informed PrimoTronix via email (instead of waiting in on-hold hell) to consider my order cancelled. Should have listened to the many, many other poor reviews.
As my title states, if anyone knows other people that are getting together to get the law involved with these people in any way please let me know. Also I doubt anyone will read this whole thing but it is relieving to get this down on paper and off my chest. Bottom line is DO NOT USE THIS "COMPANY". THIS IS A FRAUDULENT SCAM. All the 5 star reviews and clearly "stock" reviews are probably done by the "company" themselves, just check the actual reviews and other 1 star's, they are exactly like mine. I was going on vacation 9/9/13 and wanted a camera for my vacation. I ordered a Canon T3i on 8/20/13. I noticed the reviews on them afterwards and called literally 5 minutes after I ordered to confirm this was a legitimate company in which the rep told me "why wouldn't we be". Anyway I got two emails (that day) saying I had been charged and it will take 24-48 hours to ship and then my item and will be delivered in 7-9 business days (so at the latest 9/4/13).
Monday 8/26/13 I called since I hadn't received a tracking # and wanted to see where it was. I was told it would be delivered Monday 9/2/13 and he would send me the email with the tracking#. After 2 days I never got it. I called back and was told it would be delivered Tuesday 9/3/13 and he would also send me the email on this. (they sent me two emails about charging my account and placing my order so I know they had my email address correct). Two more days later I called the third time and was told it would be delivered Friday 9/6/13 and he too would send me an email. I requested he also just tell me the tracking # off the email he was sending. I wrote it down and confirmed it was accurate with him. I never got the email he said he was sending either.
The tracking# I wrote down that I was given was through the USPS. It showed they got the info to ship on 8/27/13 but no progress had been made because they haven't been given the order yet. On Tuesday 9/3/13 still no change and I called them because I was leaving for vacation in a week and needed my camera and was willing to pay whatever extra I needed to get it in time. When I called I found out they were closed the entire WEEK for Labor DAY, so even though I was willing to pay whatever I needed there was no way to get in touch with them to get my camera. I left for my vacation on 9/9/13 with still no email or confirmation ever sent to me and no progress made on the tracking# I had.
I got back from vacation on Monday 9/16/13 and checked and still I had no emails from them and no progress made on the tracking# that I was given. I called them and requested they cancel my order. They said it was probably lost and they have to verify it was lost before they can refund me. He said they will be able to confirm this within a day or two and I will get an email regarding this with what they find out by Wednesday 9/18/13. I never thought I would actually receive any email......and I never did.
On Thursday 9/19/13 I called and found out they were closed the 19th - 22nd and then again from 26th-27th for Jewish Holiday. So I called Monday 09/23/13 and was told they see the order is being refunded as of 9/17/13 and will take 7-9 business days to refund and will be refunded by 9/30/13. I also checked my tracking# I was given earlier after that call and it actually showed progress. It showed my package was delivered successfully and signed for in Colorado. I live in Tennessee. I think I was just given some random tracking# to shut me up the previous month.
Well today is 9/30/13, and as I 100% expected, I have received no refund. So I gave them a call. By the way I had to call 7 times. The first 6 times between around 17-25 minutes waiting the line just disconnected. It took me 2 hours to get through but on my 7th try I got through.
The first question I asked was how late they were open and he said until 8:30pm EST (it was 4:45pm EST at the time). I asked about my refund and he said it will be refunded by 10/2/13 (this story was all too familiar with my packages delivery date changing by 2 more days every time I called). I asked if I could speak with a manager to confirm that info. He said he would let his manager know and he would call me back, I then provided my phone #. I asked if I would actually receive a phone call back and he said it would be up to his manager if he decided to call me back or not. I asked why I couldn't just speak to one on the phone now and he said they were all busy. I told him I would be willing to wait for one and he just talked over me and interrupted me saying "Have a good day sir" and hung up on me.
I called back (5:02pm EST) and they were closed. I tried back two more times on another option (option 3 instead of 2) and it said "Please wait while we transfer you" then it disconnected. I called back with Option 1 for sales and just waiting around 20 minutes until it also disconnected like the 6 times earlier that day. I then got to writing this review/warning.
I honestly don't think I will get my money back. I feel they just stole over half a grand from me. Some one needs to do something about this company. By the way EVERY time I tried to call them was a painful experience. I could NEVER contact them. I work 10-6, they are open (apparently) 11-5. The website says open until 6:30pm EST. I work until 6:00pm EST. I called them at 6:05 pm EST once and the automated message said "Sorry we are only open until 7:00pm EST, please call back later". So the website said 6:30 and the voice message said 7:00 and the person I spoke with said 8:30, but at 6:05 they are closed. Lets not forget the insane amount of time off this company takes.
I should have heed the warnings of the other buyers before placing my order on this website. I placed my order on the 7th of Sept, no calls, nothing charged to my credit card. My order is "in process" up to this day (25th Sept). I called the sales on the 12th of Sept and they asked me for my name. my CC was charged that day. So if I don't call my order doesn't get processed????!!!!! When I call customer service no one picks up the phone but when I call sales they pick up in a second. What does that say about this company? When I got to sales and asked for the customer service, they didn't even say anything and transfer me back to customer service for more waiting. I emailed asking for my tracking number that I never received. they send me a very generic reply. What they don't tell you about their service is that you'll received the tracking number when the order is processed. What they meant by "Processed" is when the item arrive into the states in 2 to 3 Weeks when they send it on FEDEX or USPS!!! Then they will send the tracking number????!!!!! Really???!!!! This is the longest time I have to wait for any package, needless to say, my patience is growing thin.
30 Sept. Still no item. Was told to wait 2 more weeks by rep on phone. SMH.
I am utterly SHOCKED this company has any 5 star reviews. I would give it negative stars if I could. Here is my experience with them...
I origionally ordered a Nikon D600 (body only). I was contacted after the order about buying more memory cards and batteries. I ended up spending nearly $2000 for this camera, not including the lense which, thank GOD, I ordered from a legitimate company. I was pleased over all with my initial order, I received the camera fairly quick. A few weeks later I accidentally dropped it while trying to juggle a few bags, my 15 month old son, and all while being very pregnant, and the autofocus wouldn't work anymore. I called Nikon to ask about sending it in to be repaired under the warranty and that's when I discovered this camera was what they call a gray market product, which means it's not registered through Nikon. It also meant that Nikon would not touch my camera even if I paid them. I called Primotronix and I was assured there was no problem and that my camera would be replaced right away if I sent it in to them. Awesome! Or so I thought.
I called them first to see how long it would take because I was due to have my daughter in a few weeks and I wanted the camera for her birth. I was told it would be a week tops once I sent it in. Great! I sent it in June 10, 2013 but, unfortunatly, it was not returned to me by the time I had my daughter so I don't have any good pictures of her birth. I called to enquire about my camera's where abouts and was told it would be repaired but the part was on back order. I have called a countless number of times since then and have been told the part was coming in tomorrow, and then it was being repaired and would be shipped over night first thing next week, then it was still be repaired and would be shipped 2 day air, then it was actually shipped and I was given a tracking order that showed nothing on USPS. The last time I called I was hung up on 3 times and was on hold for hours. I just got off the phone with them yet again and was told this time that the camera was unable to be repaired and would be replaced instead.
I feel like I'm being scammed and may never see my camera or my money ever again.
Maybe $2000 is not a lot of money to some people but it is to me and I sacrificed a lot to buy that camera in hopes of starting a business and contributing financially to my family. Unfortunately, this company doesn't give a rats a** about me as a customer. Maybe I'm stupid for thinking most people are nice and care, but I am actually shocked that this company seems to p*ss on their customers and go on with their day feeling good about themselves.
I have spent hours on hold, been hung up on one of times, spoken to like an idiot, and apparently stolen from.
I feel like I will be forced to take legal action or literally drive to where this company is and DEMAND either a cash refund or a CAMERA.
I cannot express the nightmare this past THREE months have been trying to get some real information about my camera. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, DO NOT order from this company. I regret the day that I did with everything in me. Actually, I just wish I had taken to to the local repair shop and paid the $125 instead.
One of the worst online shopping experiences I have ever had. If you love the run around, if you love bad service, if you love having to dispute your credit card charge in order to get your money back after being lied to and blatantly ripped off, Primotronix is your store! I ordered a Canon T4i body on 8/8/13--"in stock". I had to wait on hold the next day for 20 min. before being able to "confirm the order" and turn down the up sale pitch. At this point, I'm still thinking this is worth the hassle to save some cash. On 8/12/13 my credit card was charged by "BEST PRICE PHOTO 188-87821617 NY". Orders process in 3-7 business days according to their website. However, as of today, 9/13/13--a full month after they took my money--the website simply says my order is "In Process". Email inquires get a form message to call their phone number. Their phone number leads to a infinite hold, "your call is important to us." Ha
I ordered a Sony SLT-A37 kit from them on Tuesday. On Wednesday I received the upsell phone call about needing to purchase an extra battery because the included one only lasts 20 minutes. I know the Sony SLT line, and that is a blatant lie. Then I was told that my camera listed as "Order Now" under availability on their website is on a 4-6 week backorder from the factory and will be shipped as soon as they can get it in from Sony. This model was discontinued in December 2012, so I doubt Sony will be shipping those soon. I told the phone rep to cancel my order. Thursday, their website still showed my order as in process, so I emailed their customer service department to request a cancellation verification. No reply, so I emailed again today, along with an explanation of why I am cancelling. I would NOT recommend ordering from Primotronix. I am about to contact my bank to make sure they do not charge my card, because they seem shifty enough to do that. STAY AWAY!!!!
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Heres how my experience was!! I Also will never order from this company again! I had the same experience as [name]. I ordered a Camera on the 19th of july for my fiances birthday ... 48 hour processing and 7-10 days shipping. They called me within 24s of ordering to verify that it was me that ordered the camera because i was having it sent home to her as i was at work. which i was impressed with. Than the BAD happens... They ask if i wanted to purchase a different battery for the camera because the one that comes with it only last 20 minutes.. i said no thanks and they continued informing me that i would need a 1 or 5 hr battery instead of the original that come with the battery ... i did my research before ordering and a few other reviews said that the battery that comes with it will last for days. I politely told the guy that i was not interested and that i wont be taking that many pictures so i will pass on the other batteries but thank you for the suggestion. he in returns says " i dont know why you have to be like that, i will process your order, bye" and hangs up .... i called back to speak to a manager.. he said that the order was processed and he was sorry for that guys behavior that he obviously works off of commition from those batteries. he stated my camera would be here by the 28 .. i waited until the 27 and called for a tracking number.. they said that it was not shipped out yet but when it does ill get a tracking number emailed to me . i called again on the 1st of august. and then they said that they only had the body of the camera and that it will be shipped out soon. on the 5 i was told that it is ready to be shipped and that i will have a tracking number by the 6th guaranteed. i called to day to find out that it was over seas and that when it gets to the u.s. i will get my tracking number and it will be 7-10 days shipping from then.... i canceled it .. enough is enough... every conversation i felt like i was being talked to like an idiot.. VERY RUDE VERY IGNORANT COMPANY!!! i WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN AND I WARN ALL THAT DO THAT THEY ARE HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH... i have had hours of being on hold and minutes of actually talking to a representative. everyone there was a manager and everytime i asked to talk to one they said they were the manager.. I will let you know if i ever get my money back. i wont be surprised if i dont. very unprofessional and i order alot online...this is by far the worst company i have dealt with..
5 minutes after posting this review i got a call from [name] a representative of the company and he assured me a camera plus battery by friday aug. 9th..that they were ordering from amazon...i will post if i get it then or not. seems like this company has good expectations but poor employees. but if i get the camera that will be a big plus and shows that they do have a sense of customer service. its a shame i had to go through all this just to get what i should of had a week ago. but glad they are holding there end of it..hopefully.
AND today is friday aug 9th. just called to find out if the camera was gonna be here today. on hold for 30min. and THEN told it was shipped yesterday and will be here Wedns. So i canceled the order again. they told me that they would have to wait till the camera was back to there office before i would get my money back. i told them that i changed my review to 4 stars because they were going to make things right and now its going back to 1 . if there was a -5 that would be this company. i was also threatened!! he said that it will take 1-2 weeks for my refund, i said my reveiw was getting changed back and in reply he said " well if your going to be like that than maybe your refund will take 6 months, or 8 months" I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE ORDERS FROM THIS COMPANY! There prices are fair but they piece there orders together and once they have everything they ship it to you but they keep you hanging on long enough for everything to get to them! .... DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM OR LISTEN TO THERE LIES! IF you have a order with them now cancel it and get your money back otherwise plan on waiting a month for your order or not get it at all! .... I have never been threatened by a company. or guaranteed something so many times!

I think shoving steel needles into my eyes would be a much more pleasurable experience than dealing with these people....BAD SERVICE, RUDE, UPSELLING, OVERCHARGING, SLOW, ETC. ETC. I wish I would have read reviews first before I ordered, if you haven't ordered from these folks yet DON'T!!!!!! Save yourself time and aggravation and go someplace else to get what you're looking for.
I will never order from this company again. I ordered a camera from their website that said it would ship within a week as I wanted the camera for a trip I was going on. The camera never came and we never received any notification of delay. I tried calling the company multiple times but their customer service hours are non-existent and difficult to get through. Finally after 2 weeks (i've now completed the trip I wanted the camera for sans camera) I wrote an e-mail to customer service saying I had never received my camera and at this point that I didn't even want it anymore. I get a generic response saying my camera is now on the way (where had it been until now and why had no one even sent me any information regarding my camera is a mystery). My camera arrives 3 weeks late and then only has a 7 day return or exchange policy which is ridiculous. An exchange for a product that you are not happy with, especially electronics that take some time to figure out is ludicrous. It took me a little more than a week to figure out that there were features of my camera that I didn't like. Now i'm stuck with a camera that I'm not thrilled with and I didn't even have it for the purposes I wanted it for.
I placed my order last Friday and got confirmation right away followed by call from rep verifying my order. He offered some great deals like 3 year insurance for a fraction of what other companies will charge. I got my order today and cant be more happier. Thanks Primotronix.!!!
