Happy to 'gouge' customers

We bought an extra large bed from Bensons. It cost over £2000. When delivered we discovered it wouldn't go up our stairs. Bensons wanted a £400 'admin' fee if we wanted a refund. This dropped to ONLY £200 if we bought another bed from them. We also got hit for another £45 delivery charge. I'm pretty upset that a genuine mistake on our part will end up costing us a minimum of £250. They are within their rights, based on the small print, but it left a very bitter taste in the mouth. I would pay extra to avoid them in future.

unhappy with £900 bad but constantly fobbed off with excuses.

We bought a raffles bed for £900. Within 3 weeks we noticed it started to sag where we slept. Benson claimed 40 day bed replacement if your not happy. Contacted store who said I need to contact head office who said no its store and store again said no its head office. It's been a year on now and I wake up with aches in my back. The bed has a 5 year warranty but if they treat like they've done so far not much hope.
KEEP WELL AWAY FROM BENSONS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Very poor service

Bought a bed from Bensons before we moved into our new house. At the time my billing address was different to my delivery address, so I had to provide two addresses. The bed was due to be delivered today, but it turns out that it was being sent to the wrong address as they had only given my old billing address to the distribution centre. Contacted Bensons about this, but they refused to change the delivery address, claiming that it would add over an hour to the journey time (despite the two addresses being less than 5 minutes apart). We will now not receive the bed until next week, leaving us bed-less until then. The store has made a mistake and yet it is us that now has to pay for it. Appalling. Will never use this company again.

STAY AWAY

I bought a water bed from Bensons,it arrived just before Xmas,it wasn't heating and went to the store,was fobbed off!!! The next day the heaters on the water bed caught fire,burning into the water mattress and wooden bed frame. I went to the store and was told by the manager it's above my pay grade! My wife and children had to spend Xmas staying with family as we had no bed to sleep In,we had to phone head office over 30 times and then phone the manufacturer ourselfs and deal with them direct to sort the problem and have the bed lifted. Please stay away from Bensons for beds they will only take your money and supply sub standard furniture!!! And wash there hands off any problems!!

Nightmare

Bought over £1000 worth of beds and furniture for my new house. Everything was delivered on time and no problems until I went to unpack the furniture. It was of the worst quality possible, chipped, varnish flaking off, warped wood, poor fitting draws, endless problems. Customer service helpful and arranged for an exchange however I had the same problems. I accepted about 7 exchanges over the space of 5 months and in this time was without a set of furniture for any of the rooms. In the end I decided that clearly it was not a batch issue but a whole quality issue so sent all the furniture back for a full refund, I was told I would get compensation for the problems. Nearly 2 months later and I am still chasing them for the refund and cannot get anywhere with customer service all you get is 'i will have to look into that' or 'i will chase that for you'. I phoned customer service at 6:55 one evening to get some answers, fair enough phone lines close at 7, only to be told that I had called at an inconvenient time as everyone was now leaving the office. Finally after contacting the store manager at the branch rather than customer services things finally moved and I got the refund, only to find out it had been incorrectly refunded causing problems with the finance and a costly phone bill to deal with that. However still no compensation.
If you want answers and a cheaper phone bill contact a store directly and speak to the manager it seems to get some answers. Have used Bensons for Beds previously with no problems but after this experience would not give them my custom again.

Rude delivery men.

Good points.
Mattress only ordered from Marton Branch, Blackpool. Shop manager was helpful and arranged for free delivery. 5 stars for the shop manager.
It arrived on time. Pity that delivery time was between 7am (thought this was highly unlikely) and 1pm. It arrived at 12md.
Bad points.
One of the delivery men was very obviously irritated that they had to take the kingsize mattress upstairs. It had to be taken round a tight corner of the bannister and he gave the mattress a really angry kick trying to bend it.. (Just as well it was in plastic or it would have been going back.) Looked embarrassed when he saw me at the top of the stairs. Neither of them had the courtesy to close the gates after them.
Such a very rude attitude.

I ordered my bed paid my money, thought this is all very straightforward well it was until the day before delivery (17 hours) I was phoned by some girl with the most annoying voice (like she was taking the piss and singing from a script) said im sorry unfortunately we cant deliver your bed tomorrow as we have not got the right base for the mattress. I wasn't happy by this after all I paid my money I even got a text to say it was coming but then the phone call no compassion just patronising staff so another 2 weeks but she did say wow it l be with you on a Friday !!!! have I missed something rubbish bensons it was today 25th feb Tewkesbury depot

Great TV Advert...............but poor in store experience

Needing a bed and putting it off for far to long the advert on TV enticed me into a Bensons store..........choose your number and its really easy they say.....well it is if the sales assistant could get off her mobile phone and serve me! Tried several beds and lay down for a while. Another sales assistant appeared walked straight past us, and to our surprise then started chatting with each other.....that was the final straw.
We ended up spending nearly £1,500 on a new bed from the next store we went into.....
As say...great advert but the hype doesn't ring true in reality.....

Buy at Bensons if you like late delivery and faulty product...

Changed the delivery date two days before due to another two months later. When the bed finally arrived it turned out that they had sent sides ten cm too long for the mattress so we have an oversize bed with a gap at the end!

Complete and utter incompetence

After ordering from Bed Shed which makes no reference that it is in fact Bensons for Beds. At the point of ordering they informed me that the delivery time would be 7 -28 days. As soon as i paid i got a confirmation email stating it would be 31 days. I take the designated day off work and having not heard anything I call them to find out its Bensons for beds and that in fact they could not deliver the product I purchased until end of March. Although no one bothered to tell me this in the 1 month run up to this and now i am left having lost 1 month in exactly the same position i was in January. The best they could muster was 'I am sorry' we should have told you. Offensively incompetent I hope this saves someone the misfortune of using this 'front' for Bensons for Beds.

Disappointing!

Really disappointed, they delivered 2/3 parts of my bed on the delivery date. Phoned them up, saying that one part of my bed is missing.They then said the last part of my bed would come today. However I have been up since 8am waiting for the last part of my bed, it is now 6:30pm it still has NOT arrived! And until I receive the 3rd part I am unable to assemble my bed.

Worst customer service ever!!!!

Had our delivery day changed 3 times and waited over a month past our delivery date to finally get the bed we ordered. Phoned several times to see what was going on but got the run around to various different departments, none of which could give a straight answer.
We were told we missed the last delivery date because nobody would put it on the truck for us and the next available date was 2 weeks away!!
I strongly urge everyone to avoid this company like the plague. I would rather sleep on the cold ground covered in rats than order a bed from these again!!!

Horrific.............

Worst company ever. waited well over 6 weeks for a bed called several times to check date to find out that the courier couldn't delivery it due to its weight . The guy was rude and shouted down the phone saying it wasn't his fault, it was the choice of bed we made. why are they selling beds they cant deliver???????? They seem happy enough to charge you for delivery though. Do not be fooled by the cheap beds.

Pleased with purchase and good service

Purchased a double airflow 5000 plus mattress from the Cambridge store after lots of deliberation. Was shocked by £45 delivery charge but sales guy agreed to reduce to £20.

Was very worried about our choice on getting home and seeing the reviews on the internet which criticised both the delivery and product, but I'm pleased and relieved to say my experience has not been bad at all.

Delivery was scheduled for an afternoon, but I got a call that morning asking if they could deliver early. I was about to go out so declined and said I would be back in an hour or so. About 10 mins after I got home, the mattress arrived. The delivery guys were polite and took my mattress upstairs with no qualms.

The mattress is lovely - really comfy. I was worried about overheating as I had done so a lot with my old mattress but have found no issue with this one. I can't comment on permanent settlement yet as it is still early days, but so far there are no problems and we are following the care guide to the letter and regularly turning and airing the mattress.

The reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is that Bensons don't take away the old mattress and we have to organise this ourselves. They gave us a leaflet on a free charity collection service, but on reading it further I realised that the mattress would have to be in a saleable condition and my 10 year old mattress was unlikely to meet the criteria. I now have to arrange for the council to pick it up for an extra charge which is annoying.

Will charge you 20% to cancel order.

Don't buy from these, needed to cancel order, tried to charge me 20% of total order to cancel it - how they still exist is beyond me.

Rude and threatening customer service

Had numerous delivery problems with this company which as resulted in a loss of 3 days wages for family members who have kindly waited in all day for a non-existent delivery. When I rand to discuss compensation, i was offered only £45 which doesn't even cove the petrol money we've had to pay. When i spoke to a manager he told me that in his opinion it was more than generous and if i had a problem i 'should take it up with trading standards.' Never have I been spoken to in such a rude and aggressive manner by a company. Trading standards will be made aware. DO NOT USE Bensons for beds.

Worst Company ever

We were recommended to go to Bensons for beds by a friend. Three of us bought the same mattress 4 months later all 3 of us were complaining saying there was something wrong with the mattress the memory foam had sunk and was not springing back, the topper was falling apart, phoned bensons and they sent someone out to have a look to be told there was nothing wrong with any of the mattresses, so for months kept on to bensons phoning customer service who were very rude. Finally after about 15 months they sent someone out again and he decided to write the mattress off so we could reselect another mattress, so off we go to bensons to select another mattress wanted a refund but wouldn't refund as that was the first mattress we have bought from them, we decided on a mattress and had to wait 2 weeks for delivery that was fine to wait, delivery day come, the men knocked on my door with the kingsize mattress, I said haven't got much room in my bedroom so maybe you would like to take the old one first as it is an exchange, their reply no we haven't got it down to pick up the other mattress, so I said hold on I will ring customer services as I have not got room to have 2 mattresses delivery guys response not my problem love we haven't time to wait that mattress is not down on my sheet to collect so will not be taking it, phoned customer services they did apoligise and did not understand why they didn't take the mattress but said they will pick the old mattress up a fortnight later, I don't think so, so had to hire a van to take the mattress to the Exeter store. Came home put the new mattress on the bed and the mattress was 8cm to short, phoned customer services they offered us 10% of our money back not good enough when you spend £799 on a mattress you expect it to be right so they then offer to send us another mattress still wouldn't give us a refund so excepted a replacement that comes surprise surprise to short again, finally we are offered a refund, they told us that a refund can not be given until they have received the mattress back in the warehouse and then a refund will be given within 24 hours, great we are getting somewhere. Well that's what we thought, they have picked up our mattress one night on the sofa without a mattress fine we didn't have the money to go and spend that sort of money to get another mattress until we got refunded. kept phoning customer services about a refund very rude and excuses like you have never heard, so thought will try speaking to the store (Exeter) even worse customer service there unbelievable. We gave in and bought a £189 mattress from else where to tie us over as this was going to be a long time to get refunded, It took them over a month to finally refund us but we had to keep on. Wasn't only us having the problem with them it was all 3 of us that bought the same mattress. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO BENSONS FOR BEDS AND WOULD STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO GO THERE EITHER. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EVEN POORER IN STORE AT EXETER!!!!!!!!! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IN STORE WHEN YOU ARE PURCHASING BUT AS SOON AS MONEY IS EXCHANGED THEIR ATTITUDE CHANGES AND NO LONGER HELPFUL!!!!! AVOID!!!!!!!!

Customer Service Apauling

Had a garuntee on our bed, and the sides of our bed was "collapsed" after getting a FIRA technician out to look at the bed he submitted his report to us which was fine and he did notice there was a problem with the bed. Then we got a phone call saying "It was your fault" How does everyone get out of bed. Obviously they would need to get off at the side of the bed. So how are we meant to get out of bed without touching the sides? Can we levitate out of our bed?

We were going to go into our local store to buy a new bed from you but now because of everything thats happened we are not happy and we will take our trade somewhere else our daughter was going to buy a new bed for her house aswell, but after hearing what has happened she will be going elsewhere.

Would certainly recommend and go back again!

My mum and her friend went into the Culverhouse cross store and was served by Katie who was the store manager.
She was welcoming, extremely friendly and very patient while they tried beds and discussed things. There was no push for sales, and the whole experience was a pleasure.

Katie is a credit to the store and made our experience totally enjoyable. We were all made to feel like friends, not customers, and wouldn't hesitate to go back to the store or recommend it.

Everything as expected

Ordered a bed online just after Xmas, received an e-mail confirming delivery would be 3/1/14. Bed arrived as the allotted time. Bed appears well made, instructions were clear, and no missing parts. Assembling the bed was no problem.

Naturally, as nothing has gone wrong with my experience, I cannot comment on Bensons Customer Service (or lack thereof, based on some of the other reviews!), but based on my experience, I would order from them again.
