I have been a member since 2024

I have been a member since 2024. I often wonder about the value I get with my peak membership plan there. I find the fees excessive and today I inquired about downgrading my membership and the staff member rudely warned me that if I chose to do that hey would charge me another annual gym maintenace fee as if I started over. I said why would you punish me for that he said was their policy. I am looking for a new gym.

I started this year working out at crunch fitness center in Anaheim. I met a trainer name Matt Mcroy right away he treated me as family. Now when i'm working out , he'll see me and ask me how's things are and if I need anything and for me to keep the good workup. He is a true blessing to that corporation.

No way, Frusting just on the phone to ask one question

In my mind I hand one maybe two quick questions because for the last 10 minutes I was already on their Bursnville web site and reviewed just about everything on it but I did not see a link or partnership with Silver Sneakers. A female answered the phone,

I asked do you partner with Silver Sneakers, she said yes. Hmm, but there is'nt a link to Silver Sneakers on their web site

Can I get your name, J...

Can I get your last name, C...

She was asking these questions quickly, which was bothersome (thinking don't start selling to me).

Is this a good phone number on which you called? Y...

I tried to politely interupt her saying excuse me.

What are your fitness goals, I gave her a generalized answer.

I tried to communicate (talk) with her, she kept on aggresively, speed talking and speed selling! I paused and tried again, excuse me.

She kept on aggresively speed talking and speed selling!

We have programs for kids, programs for this and programs for that, yada, yada, yada.

I tried to politely interupt again her but she kept on quickly and aggressively talking and talking about the gym.

I remember the high pressure gym (lifetime memberships) memberships from back in the 80's and 90's.

Geez, you lost me, there is no way I will want to be apart of Crunch especially after reading the other bad reviews and hidden extra charges.

I frustrateling hung up.

Healthy regards,

JC

it's just dirty small locker/changing…

It's just a dirty small locker/changing room on Lasky in Toledo. When you use a shower it's disgusting, no water pressure and is always a toothpick on the floor. You know by just looking down, you need rubber deck shoes or some kind of Crocs to wear. The dry sauna is also really small and there's always somebody jumping up and down trying to exercise and playing their loud music. When you changed clothes, they removed 1 of the 3 benches because it was broken. Even 2 of 4 front doors always have caution tape on it so you can't even use that door.

When you complain about how filthy the locker showers are, they don't care. Just keep out of the locker room, and don't pay the max, it's not worth it. I am also cancelling my membership after 3 years because of what I mentioned above, not to mention how corporate representatives communicated to me.

You have no shame

How can i pay for a membership to go to every gym you have. Only to move and be told “crunch doesnt allow you to enter crunch signature”. Wtf is crunch signature. Ok can i upgrade? No theyre seperate entities and i have to cancel my membership and buy a new one. But can I cancel my membership? Nope. Cuz it needs to be at a certain time frame. So I have a crunch membership and yet, cant go to a single crunch in nyc because all crunch in nyc are signatures

I do not recommend the Poughkeepsie location

This company is extremely shady with their billing practices. After speaking to the manager Poughkeepsie, NY location), she said she would look into it but never did to my knowledge. Never even got back to me. I had to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of the state of New York. My problem still isn’t resolved. And the place itself could be cleaner.

Session

I have been with the gym for almost a year. Gym on hwy 6 in houston is spacious. I signed up for personal trainer. I had changes in my hours and decided to put a hold on them. But before I could do, it didnt go into effect for 30 days. Meantime my card was still being charged for session. I didn't use session bc personally dealing with some struggles and motivation. I pretty much stop going to the gym. My situation didnt changed financial and I tried to cancel but was never informed to do so I will be charged to cancel 189. I have 14 session credit. Your process makes no sense and appears to trap and bleed people for more money.i dont get a refund on paid session. Why not deduct from that? Please advise. It iz hard to reach anyone via phone only via contact form.

Greedy, Predatory Cancelation Policy

The cancelation policy is a greedy joke. I tried to cancel my membership but wont be able to without paying the annual fee (due March 28, 2026) for the upcoming 12 months despite losing access to the gym on March 6, 2026 before I even get charged the annual fee. I came in on February 26, 2026 which is before the 30 day window. The manager AND Jake the managing partner informed me because my last payment is March 7, 2026 and within the 30 days of the annual fee, I have to pay both?? I tried to ask for the annual fee to be waived since I won't have access to the gym these next 12 months but was informed they cant do that for me. I feel ripped off. The gym, while clean, is not worth these unreasonable, greedy policies.

Crunch Fitness Harker Heights tx

My experience with Crunch Fitness in Harker Heights has been extremely frustrating.

I was told twice that my membership had been downgraded, but I later discovered that it was still at the highest tier. The app then showed that I owed more than $1,000. During the billing dispute, repeated withdrawal attempts contributed to me having to close a checking account I had maintained for more than 10 years and transfer my funds to another account.

I spoke with management in person and was told there were no fees on my account. I requested cancellation, electronically signed the cancellation acknowledgment, and was directly told that my membership was closed and that I owed nothing.

Despite that, Crunch later attempted additional charges. When I contacted the gym again, I was told that my cancellation was only “pending.”

Because of the conflicting information, continued billing attempts, and failure to complete the cancellation as I had been told, I cannot recommend this location. If you are dealing with a billing or cancellation issue here, document every conversation and keep copies of everything you sign.

**UPDATE — August 25, 2026**

After I posted this review, the Managing Partner contacted me.

He confirmed in writing that my gym membership and personal training had been canceled and that there would be no further billing. He also stated that:

• $82.25 would be refunded
• $97.25 would be canceled or reversed
• $360 related to personal training would be reversed

I explained that the billing problems had already affected my banking before I went to Crunch to cancel. Because of the continued activity, I had to close my longtime checking account and replace my debit card.

Payments to creditors that were already processing when the account was closed were subsequently returned.

I appreciated finally receiving a response from management, but I decided to leave this review open until the promised refunds and reversals were actually completed.

**UPDATE — September 1, 2026**

Unfortunately, the issue is still not resolved.

After previously telling me that the $82.25 would be refunded and that the $97.25 and $360 transactions would be canceled or reversed, Crunch later gave me a different explanation.

I was told that my cancellation had actually been temporarily held because of what Crunch described as past-due balances on my membership and personal-training accounts. Those balances were later written off.

Because my original checking account and debit card were already closed, I specifically asked Crunch how any refund or reversal would reach me.

I also asked for transaction numbers, processing dates, or another secure refund method so I could verify what had actually been processed.

Instead, I was later told that the transactions were only attempted charges, that Crunch had not received the money, and that I should contact my financial institution if the funds had not been released.

That leaves several basic questions unanswered:

• Was the $82.25 refund actually processed?
• Were the $97.25 and $360 reversals actually submitted?
• Which transactions were completed and which were only attempted?
• What are the transaction or reference numbers?
• What were the processing dates?
• If money is owed to me, how will it be returned now that the original account is closed?

The consequences have also extended beyond my gym account.

I had to ask Navy Federal Credit Union to prepare formal letters for affected creditors explaining that my previous checking account had been closed as compromised and that authorized ACH payments were returned after the closure.

I appreciate Navy Federal helping document what happened.

I have preserved my emails with Crunch management, cancellation documentation, banking records, and Navy Federal correspondence.

At this point, I am not asking for anything complicated. I want a documented accounting of what happened to each transaction and confirmation that this matter is actually closed.

What began as a gym-membership cancellation has turned into weeks of conflicting explanations, banking complications, returned creditor payments, and repeated attempts to determine what happened to these transactions.

I will continue updating this review until the matter is actually resolved.

I would like to acknowledge Jasmine…

I would like to acknowledge Jasmine from Caringbah and strongly recommend that she be considered for a pay rise or formal recognition for the way she performs her role. She went above and beyond to assist me with an ongoing membership issue that had been happening for months. She was professional, polite, patient and took the time to properly investigate the problem rather than simply telling me to walk through the gate like they do at Rockdale
Jasmine identified the issue on the system, contacted my home gym at Rockdale, corrected the incorrect information and made sure everything was properly resolved. As a result, my barcode finally worked and I was able to enter the gym without any issues.
Jasmine is doing exactly what she is being paid to do, and in my opinion, she is doing it 110%. She checks memberships, speaks to customers respectfully, takes responsibility and genuinely cares about doing her job properly. Staff like Jasmine should be recognised and rewarded because she sets a great example of the standard that should be expected across all centres.
I sincerely believe Jasmine deserves recognition and a pay rise for her outstanding work ethic, professionalism and commitment to her role.

LOVE getting billed for something that I thought was already paid!

I signed up because it was supposed to be a deal. It ended up just being false advertisement because I *supposedly* was just being charged a “prorated annual fee” but then got charged an extra $70 without warning! Why advertise all the “deals” and give someone a “prorated annual fee” and a lower “enrollment fee” if there are hidden fees that are not mentioned in the ad!? Meanwhile, I can’t find a single email address to be able to reach out and voice my concerns. Since when is this ok??.. I am thoroughly annoyed because CRUNCH SHOULD BE BETTER AND MORE TRANSPARENT when having people sign up.

Long time member treated like garbage

I have been a loyal Crunch Fitness member for quite some time and, until this interaction, I had nothing but positive things to say about the gym. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Mateo at the Brandon location was so disappointing that it has me seriously reconsidering my membership.
I called regarding an unexpected $65 annual fee on my account. After being informed that it was a yearly charge, I explained that I am returning to school and, because of the demands of my schedule, I would no longer have the time to regularly use the gym. I hoped there might be some understanding or guidance regarding my options.
Instead, Mateo's response was simply that I had signed an agreement when I joined and that was the end of the discussion. At no point did he acknowledge my situation or show any interest in helping me find a solution. While he remained calm throughout the conversation, his demeanor came across as condescending, dismissive, and completely indifferent to the concerns of a long-time member.
What disappointed me most was not the fee itself, but the complete lack of customer service. I asked several times if this was truly how Crunch wanted to treat a loyal member who fully intended to return after finishing school. Each time, I was met with the same matter-of-fact attitude that made it clear my business and loyalty meant very little.
Crunch has built a great gym with excellent equipment, a welcoming atmosphere, and a strong community. One trainer, Daniel, who is no longer there actually motivated and guided me through three life-threatening bouts with breast cancer. Even when I couldn’t go to the gym for months because of surgeries or treatments, I kept it going because of the supportive relationship I had with my trainer. That is why this experience was so shocking. One employee's lack of empathy and customer-focused service has done more damage to my perception of the company than years of positive experiences have done to build it.
I genuinely do not want to cancel my membership, and I would prefer to continue supporting Crunch. However, this interaction with Mateo was so unpleasant that I am now considering taking my business elsewhere, especially with new options opening nearby. I sincerely hope Crunch rethinks how loyal members are treated because no customer should walk away feeling as unvalued as I did after this conversation.

I joined 3 months ago in Kyle Texas

I joined 3 months ago in Kyle Texas. I knew going in the gym was not large at least in the amount of equipment available. But I was reassured if I came during off peak hours there was plenty of room. I tried several different starting times and days, never mattered the gym was over crowded constantly and of course a good portion of them on their phones while on the equipment. Ok not for me so I go in 10 days before billing cycle and I’m reminded ( told) there is a 30 day cancellation cycle so I had to pay for the following month. I’m going midday for an hour all month so I can just hold the front door open during the dead heat of summer 😃. Back to planet fitness! Little farther drive but a much better gym. Save your money do not join Crunch fitness in Kyle Texas.
