Title: Unexplained bank charges, no communication and poor customer service
I rented a vehicle from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Montrouge, France, in August 2026.
More than a month after returning the vehicle, Enterprise took two separate payments from my bank account in September, without any prior notification, invoice or explanation.
I had no idea what these payments were for or why Enterprise was continuing to charge my account after my rental had ended.
The lack of communication was so concerning that I contacted my bank’s fraud department and blocked further payments.
In October, I received a motorway toll payment notice relating to the rental vehicle, more than two months after the journey. By the time it reached me in the UK, the deadline to pay the original toll without additional penalties had already passed.
I still have no confirmation of whether Enterprise’s earlier deductions were connected to these tolls, what they covered or whether any payments were passed on to the motorway operator.
I contacted Enterprise directly, requesting an explanation and a breakdown of the charges, but have received no response.
Customers should not have unexplained amounts deducted from their bank accounts and then be left chasing basic information about their own transactions.
Rental companies have a responsibility to communicate clearly about post-rental charges, provide supporting invoices and explain any additional liabilities promptly.
An extremely disappointing experience, made considerably worse by the complete lack of transparency and communication.
