Paid for the item as it was just cheaper on here with their 14 day guarantee and pretty good looking online site (not having read the reviews on here though....idiot!) Bought an external hard drive. Never delivered. They said it was out of stock. Then they said they couldn't refund as the "bank they used had changed". Told me to file for VISA transaction failure....all taking over 6 months.
I ordered a compact flash card and it didn't arrive. Over many weeks I tried to get my card and then I tried to get my money back, but was given lots of improbable excuses and finally silence, when I asked Extak to deny that the intention of the transaction was simple robbery. So my review of Extak is one star. Given the opportunity to rate zero stars, I'd have done that, because I think that setting out to rob someone doesn't deserve a star. My check on an independent review website confirms that robbing customers is a very regular feature of Extak business. You too can see for yourself on: - http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.extak.com So to my friends at Extak, for having the bare faced cheek to ask me to write a review about what I think of them having stolen my money, I happily oblige in the hope that at least someone else considering making a "purchase" may see this before their gophers remove my posting. And to those representing this so called company and reading this post, I can sleep at night with a clear conscience, and that is worth far more to me than the money that you have taken from me. I hope that the law catches up with you and serves justice on you soon.
Wish i would have read review of this company before ordering from them.I ordered a Lacie cloud box as they came up cheapest via an online search so placed order expecting a delivery within a week. After about 10 days i contacted them (not by phone as can't get through after 15 mins !!!)via email and they said would i mind waiting another 5 days so I said ok as didn't seem too unreasonable but the alarm bells should have started ringing. After another 10 days or so still no item delivered so contacted them again (no email updates on orders )and got same story would i like to wait..No fing way just give me the money back..thats when the real grief started .The said I would have to contact my credit card and get them to do a chargeback as they can't do it from their bank. What a load of CRAP but after a few more emails was not getting anywhere so had to contact my card and do it that way.All in from placing order to getting my money back think it was about 2 months.Use them at your own risk..I went to Pixmaina and no problems..cheapest is not always best !!!
They took my money but didn't deliver and didn't let me know why not. After I contacted them, they said they had tried to refund my money but couldn't as they no longer used that merchant bank. I was told to make a claim through my credit card company. Worst excuse ever and why didn't they just deliver the goods in the first place.
This company has previously traded under at least 2 different names, has gone bankrupt and then started again without any care for the customers that they rip off. They are crooks and not to be trusted. I managed to get my money back by going through my bank, but others might not be so lucky. The company claims to have certified status for guarantee of online purchases, but when you have purchased, you find that their certificate is no longer valid. The company took the money I paid for a Samsung laptop and then claimed that they had never received it in their account. They lied. If you are considering buying from Extak, please heed the advice of this review and many others like it and DO NOT PURCHASE from them. Please also read the guardian article that explains their shady history in more detail.
Order date 14 October 2013 Extak Invoice 187612 for Epson Multipack ink T1295 for £39.02 Invoice paid via Mastercard 14 October 2013 Mastercard confirm payment taken by Extak Today, 11 December 2013, no goods received.
Various problems with the order I placed - couldn't get a straight answer out of Extak as to why the order was delayed numerous times (was told after I rang them a few times that the item had been damaged and had been sent back to the manufacturer) so I cancelled it and was told I would receive a refund. Four weeks later still no refund so I called up and was told that I had to sort a refund out with my bank as Extak were no longer doing business with the company who supplied the item.
I don't mind cancelling orders - these things happen and can be easily resolved. My main issue is the complete lack of communication and knowledge of the customer services team. Very bad.
I never received the goods but they still charged the card. When I called I was informed that the items were no longer available and there were no alternatives either. The only way I could get my money back was and I quote "to file a dispute with your bank for the transaction" Although the person at the other end of the line was not rude he was most definitely not very helpful. I will never be using this so called company again.
I ordered some computer supplied from Extak. The money was immediately taken out of my account, and the order marked as 'stock assigned'. Excellent, I thought: wrong.
After 3 weeks with no item, I contacted them; 'we'll sort this issue out as soon as possible' I was promised. Order changed to pending. Another 3 and a half weeks after that, after several emails (they seem to have a policy of only answering one out of every two emails- probably my biggest complaint.) they finally admitted that the order was never going to be sent. I was then generously offered a full refund- which, another 3 weeks later, I still have not received. Another email sent today, which will hopefully activate the 'rule of two'!
Another company delivered the item in the time it took them to respond to one of the emails.
Do not waste your time and money with this useless, uncaring company.
Ordered in early October after a couple of weeks of no contact checked in and was told to wait another week. After 2 more weeks contacted them again and was told that not only was my item not coming they could also not be bothered to refund me. Had to contact my bank to get them to reclaim the money.
Totally useless but at least they sent me the link to provide this review
Do not touch with a barge pole. I ordered some Lego, the money taken from my account and no product arrived. I emailed and called them and was told that there had been a delay with the order...so why then was my money taken out?! After speaking with someone at Extak, they said that I could get A refund, this still hasn't arrived and after emailing again, they said that I would have to take it up with my bank. Not impressed, and very untrustworthy!
Ordered £62 of computer bits and pieces. Phoned them on the day that my goods were promised to arrive (they have a promised-by delivery date when you order) and they said that they did not have them in stock! I asked for them to issue me a refund as the items were in stock when I ordered them and I was given a date by which my goods would arrive!
They sent me an email to say that they had been in touch with the accounts department who would give me a refund. That was 5 weeks ago.
I have sent them an email each week till now.
Yesterday saying that I cannot have a refund from them!!!!!!!
I payed by direct debit card and cannot get money back from my bank. I stupidly didn't realise that debit cards were not covered against criminal activity.
Here is the email that Extak sent me yesterday: " Dear Customer, We are writing to you in regards to your refund owed to you. We apologise for the delay in processing your refund. Due to complications that have arisen with our previous payment merchant this has affected our ability to process your refund, we must unfortunately notify you that you will need to file a dispute with your bank for the transaction, as we are unable to complete the refund from our side. In many cases this should be straightforward and quick. Chargebacks are there to protect the consumer in situations where they are unable to receive their funds back via normal methods. We realise that this is asking more of you than is normally expected, and we can only apologise for this, and any inconvenience this may cause you. Should you have any issue regarding this, please let us know and we will see what we can do to try to help further. We regret that we are unable to refund your transaction and hope that your bank can assist you with a swift conclusion. "
Ektak failed to dispatch my order, and were unable to issue a refund due to a problem with their account merchant. I have had to wait for 30 days to get my bank to ask for a Chargeback, and this process is still ongoing. I have read on reviews since that Ektak used to be called WAE+ and they had similar problems with that company.
I had exactly the same experience as many of you, trying to buy an A3 scanner, down to an identical letter yesterday, about being unable to offer a return of my £160. ie - paid money, nothing arrived, refund offered, try again, said I, 'o sorry' said anxious girl on the phone, 'your goods were damaged in transit'. Eventually I began to smell one very big rat, thinking that Extak was probably in trouble. Asked crossly for refund, got the 'we are unable to process your refund owing to trouble with our bank' letter. I'm really impressed with the John Lewis/HSPC chargeback team, though, I wrote to them this morning enclosing Extak's emails, and 6 hours later got an email saying that the matter is resolved and the refund would show up on my next statement. Do you think that this routine is actually the nature of their scam? They don't produce the goods, never refund any money, and are therefore robbing either the customer or the credit card company. Quite neat really.
Do not even go to their site, they will rob you blind. They lure you in with cheap prices and make no effort to deliver your goods. They will eventually go into administration and if you haven't managed to get your refund by then you will have a tough time getting it back at all!
I ordered a product that said it was in stock. 10 days later the product had not being delivered and contacted Extak. They said they were experiencing delays from the supplier - this continued for over a month with the same excuse.
Eventually I said I wanted a refund after they mentioned it only to be told 10 days later that they couldn't do it as their merchant bank had problems. I am now having to revert to my bank to reverse the charge and if not successful will have to follow up with legal proceedings.
This seems like a scam business and I would avoid at all costs.
