Don't be fooled by high street brands!
A lot of people feel safer with high street brands of UFH but the profit markup on them is outrageous! As a highly qualified industrial engineer I was delighted with the quality and design of the Ambient heating mat which I appraised surpasses the popular 'shop' brands. UFH is NOT Black Magic although you would think so with what some tilers try to charge, done carefully with good components its not that hard. I used a 200w/m mat in a large conservatory with 35mm of Ambients insulation board underneath (floor level was designed to take this much into account during the build) The system makes the room fully usable all year round as the only and primary heat source. the digital controller also from Ambient is scheduled to heat when the room will be used automatically keeping the running cost reasonable. All parts of the system were delivered by a helpful delivery driver in perfect condition. 18 months on all is fine and I expect the system to gives 10's of years of service. Only hitch was the touch screen thermostat had an annoying beeper that could not be turned off and activated if the frost protection kicked in or the floor overshot target temperature. I simply desoldered it - sorted!

Flaw with under floor
I have just ordered two replacement thermostat / timers for my kitchen and dining room underfloor systems. They were both installed around 4 years ago and I had been very happy with the ease of installation and the efficiency of operation. The failure of both timers just a year out of warranty is therefore somewhat disappointing!

We have been using the AUBE TH series thermostats for around nine years now and as with all things electronic occasional failures can occur.
Dating back four years or more these thermostats would have been guaranteed for a period of two years but as a company we would still honour whatever the current Honeywell period might be, this is currently three years.
Outside of this guarantee period we offer a discounted price to previous customers although we have no mechanism available to recover compensation from Honeywell.
I would urge anybody experiencing problems outside of the manufacturers guarantee periods to give us a call, we may be able to help.

very easy to instal
very quick delivery was initally worried expected much bigger box but no need everything was present,liked the idea of spare sensor for thermostat saving potential problems if failure, only thing is dont do as I did and fit themostst too high 6 foot as its much clearer if you are looking down on it by a foot rather than up but other than that scarily easy to instal would like a tad warmer but we have 15 foot ceilings so takes some heating.

First time and satisfied
My customer requested under-tile heating to the bathroom I was planning to install for him. I Googled around for different suppliers and liked the look of Ambient flooring's website as well as the prices. There seemed to be plenty of advice available which was a great help as I hadn't ever installed under-floor heating. I install kitchen & bathrooms for a living and am quite handy at most things so was quite confident.
The order process was straight forward and my goods arrived promptly, well packaged and as ordered.
Installation was a little tricky and had to keep refering to the instructions but I managed without any major problems.
My customer is happy with the finished job and the heating is working well so far. The supplied electronic programmer is well designed and looks good.
It's the first time I've used this company but I'm sure I'll be using Ambient again in the future.

Great levels of Backup and Service and Great Products
As a trade installer I have installed many systems from Ambient. I have always been encouraged by their helpful service, and they have always bent over backwards to help resolve any issues (never with the product, only the installer!!)
I would thoroughly recommend them for price, service and product quality. Much better value than Warm-up for example, but with every bit as good a product!

Highly recommended no need to look elsewhere
As first time customers to underfloor heating our project was a daunting one. The staff at Ambient offered excellent service and advice everything was delivered quickly and proved easy to install and operate. The system has proved to be very efficient and offers a wonderful, warm comforting feeling to the granite tile, which otherwise would be cold and harsh. I would strongly recommend this company for price, expertise and efficiency.

very good product.
very pleased with under floor heating. extreamly good product. bit worried about the insulation for laying under tiles, seems very soft, would have prefered a denser product as it sounds a bit hollow when you tap the tiles compaired to laying directly onto the screed, but saying that it has beed layed for more than a month and seems good, so maybe i'm just old fassioned and expected it to be more of a dense board. if i layed another floor i would go for the more expensive insulation boards just for piece of mind.

Not sure which insulation material was fitted on this occasion but all products supplied by us are selected and tested for suitability.
Marmox - highest spec cement coated reinforced boards for use beneath tile heating systems, can be bonded/fixed to either concrete or timber floors and used with mat or cable heating systems.
Blueboard - a non coated high comp strength XPS board from Dow, use beneath tile heating systems, can be bonded on to solid concrete/screed floors only and used with heating mats. Bond down with a rapid set flexible tile adhesive.
Depron - a soft closed cell foam exclusively for use with Thermolam / Warmup foil heater systems beneath laminate/wood floating floors. Loose laid and excellent acoustic properties.
All insulation types must be fitted according to manufacturers instructions.
We do provide specifications and product info on our website but always feel free to ask if unsure.

if carlsberg did underfloor heating this is what the company would be like. like a muppet i ordered the conservatory size rather than floor size. arrived next day then i discovered my error no problem one phone call and it was sorted.probably the best underfloor heating company in the world!!

Not happy
Initially everything was fine, but when laying the u/f heating cable after 2-3 runs the tape was unsticking and cable wouldn't stay in position, this is after the primer had approx 24 hrs to dry, as time for me was limited due to Christmas period I had to buy a different heating kit and the tape supplied was more than strong enough, with this in mind I was hoping to get a refund on the cable, which has been declined because it has been taken out of the wrapping and uncoiled??????

Unfortunately a cable or mat can't be refunded if it has been partially fitted.
The adhesive tapes we supply with our cable kits are a high tack product so you should certainly expect good adhesion to a dry floor.

Great customer service.
Just bought several sets of underfloor heating from Ambient; looked at several systems over last few months and always went back to Ambient website; have talked to David a few times for advice, he's always very helpfull and knowledgable.
Got the items delivered on the day i planned, have installed the touchscreen TR8100 controllers and they are better than expected.

Top technical advice and next day delivery
