Great product, great service..

I purchased the Richmond Croquet set as a wedding gift and paid for next day delivery. i thought the £10 charge quite reasonable considering the size of the item. it was delivered as promised. however for no apparent reason, although i assume a stock issue, it was upgraded to the Canterbury set!! Thank you Jaques. Needless to say the happy couple loved it and think i am an extremely generous friend! Hopefully they will be inviting me round for a game soon!

quick delivery service, excellent products

I purchased a bagatelle game for my family. I would recommend Jaques games for all ages. I currently have skittles, shove hapenny, dominoes, four in a row, shut the box, and many more. The quality and workmanship you feel the games will last. Would highly recommend Jaques !

Excellent

Efficient service and delivery. Only disappointment was that the packs of 'Snap' and 'Happy Families' were not packaged in the original orange boxes! I would like to know the reason for this?

Thank you for your feedback. The orange packs were not the orignal style boxes and were around from the 1930's to 1970's. The packs that you received are based on the original design from when we first introduced the games in the late 1800's.

I received the wrong product.

Good service, bad product

I paid extra, thinking I would get a superior product. When I went to screw in the uprights I had trouble with all of them. I had to press them down really hard to try and get them to catch the thread and one of them wouldn't catch at all. I'm sending it back. Also, like one of the other reviewers,it was smaller than I thought it would be. Jacques customer service was good though and we have had other games from them which is top quality. I would suggest the least they could do is check if the product fits together before sending it out.

Excellent product, such good fun!!

As a child, my dad rigged up a tennis trainer between 2 trees, and I spent hours of my childhood practising my tennis strokes. My daughter has just started playing tennis and I thought this would really help her out too, and allow me to take a trip down memory lane!! Our only complaint is that the written instructions were not very clear, they referred to instructions on the box, which didn't exist, and also showed a picture of red and blue poles, when there were red, blue and white ones in the box!

Good service

I ordered a croquet set and ping pong table online on Sunday. Didn't hear anything until Thursday (the day before the Easter break) but when I called I spoke promptly to a helpful human (rather than a useless machine) and a delivery was arranged for the following evening (bank holiday). I was surprised and impressed - well done!

I was really disappointed

I received the "garden skittles" and I was extremely disappointed with the size and quality. I was also offended by the cost of the p&p as clearly on the packaging was £1.90.
I will be returning the items and expecting a full and speedy refund

Croquet Excellence!

A well ordered website making it easy to find what you are looking for. The interesting side bars are great for learning about the history of games and John Jaques' part in not only pioneering some but also keeping them up to date and at the forefront of gaming technollogy.

On the several times that I have purchased equipment here I have always been extreemely impressed by the quality of my purchases, their competitive pricing and the professional marketting, packing and prompt delivery.

If there was one point I could suggest as a future improvement it would be to include a scale marker in the photos - say, a meter rule - so that small items enlarged to show detail do not dissapoint when the parcel purchased is opened.

Rubbish!

I saw a Jaques Chess set on their website, It had a cloth and card 12" Chess Board with attractive brown and white squares and border. What I got was a print of a hand drawn chess board in PENCIL! Good Bye Jaques! Never Again!

No so good experience

The 18'' chess board was nice, but the Staunton Standard 3.5" Chess Set didn't meet my expectations. The locket brass furniture have some scratches and the pieces (especially the bishops and the towers) haven't a good finish with some areas under-polished and without varnish.

Easy to use website.

Outstanding service and products!

As previously, I knew I could rely on this company for a swift response when ordering (late!) several last minute Christmas gifts, and I was not disappointed! Delivered within two days, despite the Christmas rush, and meeting the expected high quality; I have no doubt these wooden games will be given pride-of-place when displayed in the recipients' homes, each being attractive, beautifully-made and long-lasting.

Great fun was had by all...

I decided to get a few games and puzzles (well, by a few I mean 14!!) to leave lying around the place for the family to pick up and play with over the Christmas period, I thought I had left it rather late, but they were all with me the next day, which was a Saturday, this after having spoken to a lovely young lady at Jaques who informed me that delivery is based on working days i.e. Mon - Fri. and I should expect them about 48 hours from the next working day. Brilliant service.

The games themselves are excellent, beautifully made and packaged and will probably last a life time, so long as we don't start using them as hammers or door stops. Some of them are real mind benders, and have yet to be completed, others, like shut the box, was learnt in about 30 seconds and amused for hours, dominoes (how old fashioned is that) did the rounds several times and who can fail to be engrossed by the ever popular solitaire.

The prompt order response, and successful delivery so close to Christmas, was more than I could have hoped for. Low should have notified me that the store was closed between christmas and new year had i known this would have shopped elsewhere where my purchase would have arrived when I required

We are very sorry with regards to this. We did have a notice on the top left hand corner of our website advising all of our customers that we were closed for the holiday period and that we would not be open again until the 3rd of January.

We have refunded your carriage cost of £6.95 by way of compensation for your disappointment.
