poor repair service

Very disappointed in their repair service. On March 26th I sent a fairly new Canon camcorder in for investigation/repair under manufacturers warranty. I asked the store to mark it as urgent as my son needs it for a A level project. Instead of sending direct to Cannon they sent it to Thomas Cameras in the Midlands somewhere who they use as Cannon approved repairers. They had it for a week and then sent in by pack mule to Cannon Elstree. Desperate to get it back I phone the local store but they had no information at all, I called Cannon but they said they couldn't talk to me as Jessops were their customers (excuse me but I bought the camera from Canon and it's under warranty). I called Jessops HQ and all they could tell me was that Cannon had the camera and a technician would look at it "tomorrow" (Thursday 11 April). It's now Saturday and as still no one has told me anything about the status of the repair I called the Jessops Bristol and they couldn't tell me anything further, still no information on the problem, the solution, the cost if any, or any ETA. I'm afraid I'm not impressed at all by Jessops and Canon don't seem much better.

What happened to Jessops?

Blimey, I wish I had read these reviews before trying to order from Jessops online.
I ordered a DSLR and a lens from Jessops, even though they were a little more expensive that elsewhere, because I wanted to support a company that has a high street presence. Both were listed as in stock for next day delivery. *Three days* later the lens wandered up. Checked online to see what had happened to my camera to see it was no longer listed in stock but 'on Back Order' with no other information.
A week and a half later I sent an email to be told Jessops 'are awaiting a lead time for delivery of the next few units which is estimated to be towards the end of the month' (today is the 12th). No mention of whether we would receive one of these few units. Great. Phoned and cancelled. Re-ordered from Amazon UK yesterday and my camera has just arrived (from Amazon). Never again Jessops, what a pity.

Do not use this company

This should be a no star rating. This company promised an overnight delivery. A week on and still waiting. Delivery company failed to deliver. Checking its website it said it had tried delivering and left a card. This is not true. The next delivery day was arranged through Jessops and two people were at home when a card, the card with last week's date, was found on the doormat. No-one rang the doorbell. So no delivery.

Jessops is not answering their phones. Yodel the delivery company apparently has no human beings working for them. Can't contact them.

Both these companies are happy to take peoples' money without providing the promised service to them.

Well, I've learnt who not to shop with at least.

Is there a poss way to no star? i didnt think so.

At first, I thought jessops were okay. not bad little company. So i decided to buy a canon eos 600d and a lens both came to £816. And i ordered before 5pm for next day delivery. Did i get a delivery? Nope. I waited. Called up on the 2nd day. After being on hold for 14 minutes. They hanged up the phone. The website is never updated so you cannot see your dispatches. And the prices are ridiculous.

Add insurance for £140 when i just spent £816 in there company? Nah im okay. Thanks though.... Would never ever buy from this rip of merchants again. now waiting for my delivery for a 3rd GOD damn day.

Very helpful staff indeed

I popped into Jessops on the Sturry road Canterbury in order to have help charging my video camera. The gentleman there was so helpful in spite of me not buying anything there. He gave me very good advise was very polite and helpful

Well done Jessops and thank you

Jessops

If I could give them no stars

I would.

We have a long and sorry saga with Jessops which we have tried to resolve both in branch and with customer services but we are being steadfastly ignored. I will not be doing business with the company again (not that I suppose they care very much). seems we are not alone in struggling to get Jessops to respond to us though from the reviews on here, I only wish I'd known about Trustpilot before we spent £600 in the store. I would gladly have paid slightly more and conducted business with a company who cared more.

Very poor customer service

Wouldn't trust them with anything like a substantial order when they don't even bother to respond to a genuine, though minor, complaint.

Jessops

Not the most competitive, but...

a decent high st retailer. with the overheads they have to cover, they're won't be the cheapest in the market, but glad they're around.

Jessops

Too much money

No wonder they are having to close stores - they charge 40% more than online outlets. I would be surprised if they last another 5 years

Selling used items at new price

I bought a Sony NEX-5N and an extra lens at one of the London branches. The manager had to order the lens in as they had none in store. When i popped in to pick up the lens, it was already bagged for me. I had a look down the bag, saw the lens, thanked them and left. Bad move... the box was already open, and there were finger prints all over the lens. I called them and they said they weren't aware of it, and i could pop in next day to collect a brand new one. Absolute cowboys ! How are they not aware of this, when they bagged the lens in the first place ? This is illegal, and i am still thinking of taking this matter further....

This is no way to compete with Amazon...

Before mentioning my dealings with Jessops on the Internet, I should say that staff in my local store are always friendly and helpful. On the web, however, it's a different story.
I ordered a Nikon body towards the end of December on the Jessops web page. By mid January there was no information on order tracking about when it was likely to be delivered, so I sent an email, through the Jessops web page, asking. I wasn't in any particular rush for the camera, so a simple reply saying that they were having problems and an apology for the delay would have been fine, but no; I did not receive a reply.
Eventually, at the end of January I called them. After hanging on the phone for nearly a quarter of an hour I got through. I was told that they didn't know when it would be delivered , and when I asked why I'd not received a reply to my email said 'we haven't had anything, you must have sent it to the wrong address'. I'm not sure how that could be possible given that the address is provided by Jessops themselves, and if there's one thing guaranteed to put a customer's back up, especially after you've kept them waiting, it's suggesting that they are the cause of a problem.
I cancelled my order, placed it instead with Amazon, and the camera arrived within a few days.
In the past I've had a lot of time for the Jessops brand and I'd like to see them succeed, but they're going to have to raise their game and understand tha, just because you're dealing with customers on the web, doesn't mean that you can forget about customer service.

High Spec. at great value.

Staff always very knowledgeable which makes for informed purchasing at good value.

Jessops

I'd be surprised if they don't go down the pan!!

Shame you can't give no stars. Ordered a camera online using the 0% finance option, shown as being in stock but not delivered next day as promised, several phone calls reveal that the camera will not even be in the Country until late February early March!! No reply to my Emails, to add insult to injury they are still offering the camera for sale with delivery within 10 days when they know there is no stock, the website shows items in stock but they are display only and not for sale, another obvious con. Once bitten twice shy I would have no hesitation in never recommending the online service.

Nikon 1 J1 Order

I ordered a Nikon 1 J1 twin lens kit that they apparently could deliver in around 10 days. One month later, still no camera. They told me I should respect that it's a popular camera and difficult to get hold of. So why did they sell me a camera they don't even have? They then said I could have a red one at an extra charge?!? I don't care about it being red so this just made me more frustrated Then to rub it in they said they have a delivery of cameras in 10 days, but my order is not included in this delivery. It seems they have the policy of make a sale and hope they can deliver. As this was a present for someone it is quite embarrasing. The girl on the phone did not care at all and was happy to cancel the order.

Lumix TZ8 Repairs

My lumix had to go for repair due to problems with the lens motor. This under warrenty. Ii could not fault how this was handled by Jessops,
The warrenty was honoured and repairs at no cost.

Jessops

Terrible service

I ordered a Canon 1100d from Jessops using their 'next day delivery' service. Almost a week later I had to collect the package from a drivers house. The lens was scratched, I was told to take it into a store to exchange it, where I was told it couldn't be exchanged as it was bought online. My complaint is still outstanding with them, my last email (sent two weeks ago) is still yet to get a response.

I could have bought this camera for £10 more from a local electrical store, I deeply regret using Jessops.

Jessops are con artists

If I could give this comany a 0 star review I would have. Went into Jessops Basingstoke to buy a Nikon D7000 and 2 lenses (brand new). When I got it home, turned it on and it did not do the usual initial setup which seemed suspicious. So I took a test shot and looked at the exif data to find out the shutter count and found it had actually taken almost 1,500 pictures already!!

This makes the camera second hand, which Jessops are trying to sell as brand new!! This is not only disgraceful but actually illegal!

Shoddy Service

I have always trusted Jessops - could camera company & shop staff have always been good so I didn't hesitate to order on-line.
I ordered a camera & accessories on Wednesday & they did deliver on Thursday as promised. However I received somebody else's order.
When I called customer services this morning to find out what had happened to my order I spoke to a pleasant young man. However;
1.No apology was initially given on what had happened.
2. He seemed more concerned in retrieving the delivery than telling me when I would receive my order. I had to ask him 3 times when I would receive my order.
3. Rather than send out a new delivery to me & the other customer whose order I had received & retrieving the wrongly delivered goods to put back into stock, Jessops are going to swap deliveries . They will collect the deliveries from both customers & then re deliver them - meaning we have to be in twice!

You can tell a lot about a company by how they handle mistakes. Jessops don't do a good job when it comes to the web.

Jessops

I was concerned but...

I've read some bad reviews for Jessops on the web, but they offered a good deal on the camera I wanted so placed an order last week.
At first I was concerned; I received order confirmation, but despite paying for next-day (Saturday) delivery the update on the website never changed from 'order being processed'.
At 8.30am on the Saturday morning I rang customer services and spoke to an extremely helpful and polite chap, who explained that the page hadn't been updated properly, and that my order was indeed on its way. Less than an hour later my order arrived, safely and complete.
I'm extremely happy with the customer service that I received, and wouldn't hesitate to order from Jessops.com again!

Jessops

Could be better!

Overall not very satisfactory. I had researched on-line companies but found that they were usually not UK based, sourced their products from Hong Kong or the States and couldn't respond to telephone calls or Emails. Although reviews were surprisingly good - probably more due to the reliability of the makers than any backup from the retailers - I decided that it would be best to buy from a high street retailer. (The lower price offered by on-line retailers didn't justify the risk) I found the Jessops web-site unreliable - at one point it indicated that collection at store was possible then it wasn't. For local pickup the reverse happened. I rang the company and they said that local collection would be possible 3 cameras were in stock at Kingston. However when I contacted the store they said that this was not the case. Apparently 2 had been 'lost' in transit and they only had a display one. All's well that ends well! John B who I spoke to picked one up from another branch and I collected it today. John was extremely helpful and knowledgable. A previous camera I had purchased from Jessops was faulty and I had no problem getting it replaced - would this have been as easy with an on-line company? My recommendation would still be to buy from an accessable shop. Thanks John!

Jessops

The only place for photography

This is the only place I go for my photography needs. Their staff are very knowledgable and take time to explain things. They recommend things that you are looking for. They are not always the cheapest but I would rather pay a pound or two more knowing that I have had very good advise and brought the item that meets my needs.

Jessops

Rubbish customer service

Ordered a camera which showed in stock online so I bought it - tracked my order the next day which showed the camera was now out of stock and was on back order. Decided to phone customer services and after being on hold for 15 minutes, was told it was a problem with the website and there was nothing they could do about it. I asked whether I could pick the camera up from a local store instead and they were unable to even sort this simple request out.
I am on the phone now trying to cancel the order - guess what, I have already been on hold for nearly 20 minutes.
Eventually got through, got my order cancelled and they weren't even able to send me an email confirmation.
Avoid online buying with this company at all costs - they cannot understand the basics of good customer service, and I certainly won't be buying from them again. Stick to the likes of Amazon or Park Cameras instead - much much better.

Jessops

Unexpected Great Price and Service

I wouldn't have thought to look at the Jessops site when trying to find the best price, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the price and the service I received. They are now on my list of sites to buy from.

Jessops

Simply appalling

Avoid this company altogether. Poorly trained staff and bad policies turned a Christmas present purchase into a very disappointing experience. A member of staff at the Bristol Cribbs Causeway store failed to reserve an item as requested. This meant two trips to the store instead of one. And then swapping an item has turned into a bureaucratic farce. Simply avoid dealing wirth them.

Jessops

They are a joke

I can only add to what ive just read Jessops never again, you get an online order number to collect at store then after driving 40 miles you get told we've none should have checked your emails mate, ther was stock at other branches other side of the country but no offer to help me just a shrug of the shoulders, 6 hours later still havent got the email i supposedly had been sent by the branch and now almost 30 hrs nothing, could be next shop for the gallows with this service,

Jessops

Atrocious!!

Beware when reserving items. The camera lense package I had set my heart on was out of stock in our local Stoke branch but after some internet stock checking I found one at the trafford centre branch (Manchester). Great! I reserved one over the internet and was given a reservation number... only to be told, when i arrived (after 38 miles) that there was no camera - it was not in stock in the first place! the assistant offered to reserve and get one delivered to the stoke site as there was 12 in stock at head office. but i declined the offer and left the store. on the way back to stoke we got a phone call from who we can only assume was the manager. he apologised and said there were no eos 60d cameras with 17-85mm lenses at any jessops stores but we could pre-order one! again we declined saying we would probably get one from an internet site (cheaper). its a shame that such a good company has gone this way.I was always led to believe that jessops was a professional, experienced, company. the trust is no longer there. (according to the internet site the camera is still in stock (6hrs later) and available to be picked up in 1 hour.

Jessops

STAY CLEAR SHOP ELSEWHERE

these are by far the worst company i have ever dealt with,i bought 2 10 megapixel pocket camcorders online price £69.95 and received a parcel 2 days later with only one 8.1megapixel camera which was priced at £59.95,as other peoples reviews state try and phone customer services and you will have to wait 20minutes for someone to answer, the first phone call i made i waited 20mins for someone to tell me they had just started and could not deal with my query, and they would phone me back,no call so second call,21 minute wait before half way through explaining i needed £10 refund i was conveniently cut off, third call 23 minutes told it would be sorted out again nothing,4th 21 minute call all at premium rate told again it would be sorted, still awaiting outcome, and trying to make a complaint through their website is really difficult but after doing so no reply i normally take reviews lightly but i would stay well clear of this company, after sales is non existant and if you have to contact them it will cost a fortune waiting over 20 mins every time as other customers have also noted BE WARNED SHOP ELSEWHERE

Jessops

Great Service

I purchased a new Canon 500d camera just before xmas, as well as being at a great price, delivery was excellent, item arrived next day and i was kept informed.

Jessops

Crap!

Jessops know nothing about photography!
They are only interested in selling to the masses what they are paid (by the larger companies) to sell.
After sales service is non existent.
Prices are extortionate!
Range of products is "whatever Canon/Nikon pay us to sell"
Customer service is appalling!!!
I hope they disappear...the sooner the better!

Jessops

Poor company

In simple words Jessops are time wasters and little greedy nasty merchants.
I gave a slide to be printed, they printed it inverted, so the text in the picture is not readable because mirrored and THEY SAID IT WAS MY MISTAKE. Sad people these fake fotographers.

Jessops

Unreliable and missleading

On Friday 16th I ordered online a camera with accesories as part of a bundle. My desperation of wanting the camera as soon as possilble led me to choose Saturday delivery at the extra cost of £9.99. I waited in all day on Saturday from early in the morning until late into the evening, I figured I'd give it more time as it can be very busy and dangerous at this time of year with it nearing Christmas. Nothing came. So much for the Saturday delivery. I contacted them by email explaining the situation but no reply (however according to their website this should not have been the case). So I decided I'll give it till Moday and if nothing arrives I'll phone their customer service, hopefully they'd be more reliable than their email service. I came home in the late afternoon to find it had been delivered as my brother had signed for the package. So all was well but I still had that problem with the Saturday thing, I later discovered after lots of digging into their website that orders can only be delivered on a Saturday if it is ordered before 5pm on Friday. Turns out I was 25 minutes late for this offer, so it seems fair. But my problem is that they shouldn't have given me the OPTION to choose this delivery if they weren't going to send it out.
Think wisely before choosing to shop with Jessops, all in all they're okay but according to other cases I think I got off lightly!

Terrible

I was wary of using Jessops in the first place because of their poor reputation and the fact that they are known for being rip-off merchants but I thought I'd give them a go since their advertised price online looked quite reasonable. However, their price was advertised with 'cashback'. This sounded o.k. to me. Pay £269 now and get £40 cash back later. I received the camera in good time but there was no information about the cash back. I looked back at the confirmation email and again - NO information. So I searched through their website to eventually find a large generic Sony cashback claim form which I needed to print out fill in and post to Sony. I thought that this couldn't be right so I phoned Jessops to ask what to do. After 15 minutes of being on hold on a premium rate number I'm directed to the same lengthy claim form. So actually there isn't £40 cashback available from Jessops if you deduct the cost of the paper, the ink to print it on, the envelope to send the form in and of course the postage. Added to that the 15-20 minutes spent on a premium rate phone-line being told that my 'call is important' to them and I have much less than £40 to look forward to. Moreover, I was of the understanding that 'cash' was 'cash' and not a card. However, you live and learn. Jessops are still rip-off merchants with poor customer service and in future I will trust my instincts and avoid them like the plague.

Good but expiensive

If you are looking for good value find another place

Jessops

Why no price match? and no stock

I have tried to buy stuff in jessops but when they do have a competitive price they don't have stock (as far as I can tell anywhere as I travel a lot and so look for stores on my route). Most recently was a 100mm EF L series macro lens they advertised but didn't have
Their financial problems are public record that may be the cause

Given a choice between Jacobs and jessops, Jacobs win - I think Jessops have let their better staff go and it seems to have more general retail staff in it than camera geeks

Jessops

Great camera people, hope they survive

Really good advice and after-sales. High street camera stores seem to be in retreat because if the web, and web-based ones are facing huge competition from overseas. Hope Jessops makes it for the long term.

Loved my album

I used their free program to create and print a photo album with my wedding photographs. It's now arrived and I LOVE IT. It is pricey, but I did manage to find a discount voucher online. Very pleased with the purchase and with the ease of use of the website.

Jessops

Was once a grand company

They were great at one time and new how to deal with customers, but i just stopped using them as they don't match prices with other retailers and that's a real bone of contention nowadays. Shame really as they were the only place i liked to buy photographic gear from.
