I ordered a Biology book towards the end of August and it has now been almost 2 months and NO BOOK! I also payed for 2 day shipping and guess what? It was not worth it! It seems as if Knetbooks is determined to rip you off and take your money by giving you the option of paying extra for 2 day shipping when they cannot contribute! They also have a history of not informing their customers that they are out of stock, instead they allow you to buy their books and make you wait extensive periods of time! Stay away from Knetbooks! You've been warned!
I have rented several books from Knetbooks.com for my online masters program. The process is simple and I have really enjoyed saving my money and not having to worry about trying to sell books back after I finish with them especially since I will probably never use them again. This service has been a life saver and definitely a money saver for me!
My son had a class where he needed to use the book, written by his prof, of course. Only available at campus bookstore to buy for $62 which I thought was exorbitant since he was only using 4 chapters of the whole book. Looked around and found it at Chegg for $45 plus s&h. Found the same book, in PERFECT CONDITION, to rent at Knetbooks for $18 plus s&h. How can you beat it. Had it in 3 or 4 days. Never heard of Knetbooks before and unfortunately he's a senior, but I will def recommend it to EVERYONE!!!! The Best! Wish I'd found this place freshman year.
I've been renting my textbooks through amazon and chegg for this semester. I accidentally stumbled on knetbook.com and found that the prices were better! I'm definitely renting from knetbook from now on.
I'm so happy to have found this Knetbooks. They go above and beyond to give great service. Will keep using them until graduation! Thanks Knetbooks!
I ordered a book on 9/26 that Knetbooks said was in stock and even paid for expedited shipping which I understand does not include the time it takes for the order to be shipped. It is now 10/02 and my book has still not shipped, so I ordered the same book from (external reference) who has already delivered several books that I ordered on 9/26 and 9/30. (external reference) has guaranteed that I will have my book tomorrow 10/03. I obviously tried to cancel my knetbooks purchase that I have paid for and has not yet shipped and am told that I can not cancel it because it is coming from another company ( I was told it was in stock and being aware of this companies lack of sense of urgency would not have ordered otherwise). I have to wait until the book ships and then send it back ( plus wait for all of the other correspondence to go back and forth) until I can get a refund. At this rate the book will not even ship for another week or so, whenever they wake up and get around to it. I have no recourse, even if knetbooks called me and offered me a lifetime of free rentals I would not use a dime of it because of it because I have no idea when I will receive my rentals and fall way behind on reading assignments. If I get below a B I get thrown out of my program and lose close to $100,000 in already paid tuition in the senior year of my Masters degree. Please if you read this tell your friends never use this company. You get what you pay for and even if they are the cheapest (Which many times they are not and I have never had a problem with the five other companies that I have used) it is not worth it, do not use this company or their affiliates. I even asked one of the smug passive aggressive reps if she could take the initiative to call the company they outsourced my order to and just cancel the order before it ships to expedite my refund and of course she sounded elated and thrilled to tell me NOPE NOT GONNA DO IT!
The shipping method is so awful. I have ordered my book on September, 18th and my order still is not shipped. I contacted their office two days ago and they said that because the order is not in stock they have to wait for it until it comes.
How can you sell books that you don't even have? I am an international student and it takes me longer to understand topics even if I have the book let along not having it. I was reccomanding knetbooks web to all international students because of it good prices but seems like I should stop doing that.
Knetbooks please stop selling books that you don't have. It's not OK for costumers to make a purchase and then wait until it is shipped to your office.
To start with, the prices on Knetbooks may seem better, but by the time you're done with shipping [external reference] is a much better place to get books from. Half the time your books will come from various senders, sending the shipping price skyrocketing. [external reference] is cheaper in this sense and give great customer service.
The customer service side of Knetbooks has been awful! I ordered several different books at the beginning of this semester. Some of them came in. There was a book, of course the book I needed right away, that had yet to even be shipped. All it said on the site was the it was processing with no explanation as to what that even remotely means. I NEVER received any e-mails saying that this book was out of stock or back-ordered. There were also no indications of this on the site. Yet when I finally got a hold of customer service, I was informed that it was indeed OUT OF STOCK at the time of my order. I would have gotten it elsewhere had I been notified because, as I said before, I really needed this book! It was supposedly on order from a manufacturer, which was taking longer. I was suppose to be given the tracking number so I could figure out when my book should arrive. The systems were running slow, so I confirmed my number to be called back on with the assurance that I would be called back or be left a message with the tracking information. Days later, no call. I then filled out a form on the website explaining the problem and my frustration. I NEVER (even weeks later now) received a response from anyone. Not a peep. The book finally came in, in awful condition I might add. I'm frustrated, angry, and have been deceived and lied to. Don't bother with knetbooks; seriously, [external reference] is worth it at the end of the day. Just go there instead!!!

I ordered two books for graduate school each costing around 50$. I received the fist book just fine, the second one however did not. They originally sent it but then contacted UPS to send it back due to an error. I have been waiting for three weeks now for the book to come in. I have contacted customer service multiple times, waited over an hour to reach someone to no avail. they gave me a $25 in-store credit but will refuse to tell me whether or not they sent out the book. I have not heard back from them at all. I am unsure if I should go to another company because what if they never send me the back? They already charged my credit card but i have no book! This is the most frustrating company I have dealt with. The sad part is that I recommended this site to others and I am receiving such horrible service.
I ordered my book one week before my classes started. When my package arrived, I received an empty box with NO BOOK or shipping label inside! After waiting hours for customer service I was told by a representative that a replacement book was ordered and that I would receive it within the next week. It has now been over two weeks and the book has still not arrived. I have already been charged for a book I never got and am now way behind in my readings for class. Customer service is a complete joke, never responding to any emails. I need one of two things ASAP: the book I've been charged for OR a complete refund!
Im a first time college student and decided to order my books online. this company came as a suggestion, so i ordered my english comp 1 book for around 20 dollars or so on sept 4, I needed my book asap because my prof was already assigning chapters to read so i chose the 2nd day shipping option which charged me an extra $14.00, which i had no problem paying if i knew i was going to get my book sooner, but that never happened! it is now sept 10th and i have yet to receive a book or even a simple explanation as to why its taking so long, as a matter of face apparently my order is STILL IN ORDER PROCESSING STATUS . I've tried calling there customer service line and no one picks up. i literally was on hold for an hour, and the next day i called apparently no one was in the office due to weather conditions?! really?! bunch of BS if you ask me.. Im so fed up with this website and Im more upset that they are charging people for a service that they obviously cannot follow up on. I demand a full refund and no longer want any of their services so if they read this don't bother with your in store credit nonsense because I DONT WANT OR NEED IT! ALL I WANT IS MY FULL REFUND OF $35.99 AND NO EXTRA RESTOCK FEES NONSENSE FOR A BOOK THAT WAS NEVER EVEN SHIPPED TO ME IN THE FIRST PLACE.
THIS COMPANY IS REALLY GOOD AT TAKING OUR MONEY BUT WHEN IT COMES TO ACTUALLY FOLLOWING UP WITH THE PRODUCT THEY'RE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. if i could give negative stars i would because of how terrible this website/company is.
Update: this post should've been posted weeks ago but was on review so it is now September 28th so far i've only received my refund of $14.00 for the expedite shipping I originally placed and $14.99 for the actual refund of the book which is still not correct! I spoke with customer service weeks before the refund even posted to my account and she noted on my order that i should receive MY FULL REFUND WITHOUT THE RESTOCKING FEES, which would make my total refund $21.99. Once again I'm still putting up with this horrible website's service and its already going on a month that I haven't received my full refund and actual customer service. Just pathetic and insensitive, NEVER again will I even consider ordering books online.
I ordered a book and received it in a timely manner, but I had to return the book for a refund. I had questions about the refund, so I decided to call customer service. I was placed on hold for over an HOUR, and still was unable to get to anyone. I sent an email, no response. I don't understand the point in having "customer service", and we aren't receiving service. That is very inconsiderate. I returned my book, and I have yet to be notified of the book being received or my refund. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how long it will take. Hopefully not much longer.
I ordered a textbook and a couple of hours after ordering it i received an email saying there was something wrong with my order and that It did not process. So I went online and re-ordered the book, only to receive a "confirmation" for not only the book I had just ordered but also for the book that supposedly was not able to process.
With no way to cancel one of the orders, I waited to receive the books so I could return one and receive a refund (minus 10% restocking fee ...).I waited and I waited. My order was placed August 27th.. I paid extra for speedy shipping and they have still not arrived. It took about a week for the order to be PROCESSED! For students who need textbooks, a week means a lot in terms of assigned reading and papers. It means failing a class.
In the future I will use other sites. They were speedy and efficient and give 100% refunds if the book is returned. Also, the prices are NOT CHEAP on Knetbooks. What a dissapointment.
I rented a book since August 25th order said it would take 3-5 business, I was calling the Customer Service number several times and been just put me on hold for several hours, and Did not receive it or heard from them at all. I email to see were my book was to a email saying "I have upgraded your shipping from USPS 3-7 business days to UPS 1-5 business days as a curtsy. " But yet another week pass by didnt hear from them. I stayed in line for 2 hours the first time and still didn't answer, 1:40 minutes second time no answer and in another phone i had another phone call for almost 45 minutes until they decided to answer and just to hear that they don't have the book that there waiting for another company to get it and on top of that Lynn person I talked had the worst costumer service ever!I I asked to talk to the supervisor or manager but "no she was really busy." I dont understand why if they have a problem they cant sent u an email or give you a call. I asked for cancelation and to hear it was aready cancel and yet after 3 emails i send no RESPONSE!!!! Why can't they let us know? On top of that i still have to wait for 3-7 days for them to refound my money. I will never order from this company again. It is a fraud of what they are doing.
I rented a math book for $14.00 which i thought would be great. However, upon returning the book a few days late, my credit card was charged $146.00! The price was an inflated price of the book! No other company even charges close to that as a full price for the book! I was told that if I return the book before a certain date, they will refund me 75% of the money. I shipped the book back A LONG TIME AGO, before that certain date, and i have YET to hear back from them about my refund! I call them only to be on hold for hours upon hours and I give up! I'm on hold right now with this company as I type this review! The customer service is horrible! I even sent emails and they only have generic responses that have no real answer as to WHY they haven't refunded me my money yet.
I also ordered a books 2 weeks prior to school opening. The site said it usually ships withing 3-4 days; however my order pended for almost a week and then out of frustration I had to contact customer order. Their customer service was the worst of all. I was put on hold for almost 3 hours.... the lady explained to me that my order will ship the next day. I called again the next day and another lady told me that my order haven't even shipped yet and that she doesn't know when it will. At this point my order had been pending for almost 2 WKs. What is worst is that I could not even cancel my order and they had already deducted the money from my bank acct. I mean, how can you deduct when the book has not even shipped yet? PLUS, I have to pay a $12 dollars restocking fees for a book I waited 2 weeks, when it should be here for a week. In conclusion:
-customer service is bad
-books did not ship in 2 weeks
-could not cancel b/c money was deducted from bank acct

This is by far the worst textbook rental experience I have ever had. In fact, I have never encountered such a deceptive company! I carefully checked the rental and return process BEFORE I placed my $255 order, and did not see anything unusual. The indication was free shipping both ways and no penalties for returning a book, as well as a reasonable shipping time frame. I also ordered my books a week before my semester started, with the expectation that they would arrive by the first week of school. It is the third week, and my order finally just arrived. During the course of this time I had to reorder two books from another company just to be able to study for a massive test this week! I have missed out on homework and extra credit points thanks to this horrible shipping. When I called the company to talk to them it took FOREVER and they did not mention a shipping return charge or restocking fee for returns. The idea that a company will penalize you for their poor service is absurd!! ALL I WANT IS ALL MY MONEY BACK!! I have been inconvenienced by this awful company and my grades are suffering because of it. If they are going to have these types of policies, they need to be clear about them and actually notify customers before customers return books! I had to hunt through their website to find a place where they even mentioned restocking fees, and even then it wasn't clear. Yet, they still want to charge me when they have provided me with NO services and NO product. I cannot believe they would be so crass when I fully intended to spend $255 with them! Obviously I will NEVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY again and will be contacting the BBB!!
I ordered a book (rental) on September 1st. On the website it says it usually ships in 3-4 days. Well by friday I still hadn't got an email saying it shipped. I called them only to find out that they didn't have the book to rent to me. You better believe they took my money immediately but they didn't even have possession of it! Thats pretty much fraud! I demanded a refund and of course it takes 3-4 days to process the refund... I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!
My book return was delayed in 5 days.
On the first day my book return was late, my debit card was charged $255 dollars!!!
I rented the book for $29 for the semester and the new book was $80 on Amazon and $120 at the bookstore!
The 1 month extension cost is $29 dollars.
Now, where did they take the $255 amount from??? I agree paying a late fee, or an extension, now.... $255????

I was not able to travel home for Labor Day Weekend because my money was gone.
I was sharing a ride with a friend and I was going to pay for gas, around $100 (Michigan to Florida) and for food.... I did not want to take a Greyhound as the buses at this time are filled with homeless people.
I was not able to travel, and I had to ask a friend for money to be able to feed myself during a week,
Shame on Knetbooks and Ecampus.... completely abusing and profiting from students issue. I am sure to charge such huge amount without notice is illegal!

This has been a horrible experience. I will never rent, nor recommend this company again. I ordered a textbook that I had no idea would be placed on "drop-shipping" with an UNKNOWN delivery date! The website didn't mention that when I supplied my credit card. After inquiring about it a week later, I was told that there was still no delivery date in sight. Upon hearing that, I ASKED about the cancellation policy in the contact form. No further action was done on my part because I had not reordered the book through another company yet. On 9/2/2013 I finally get an e-mail that my book has been shipped and will arrive 9/6/2013. I waited patiently the entire week and tracked my delivery ONLY to find out that the knetbooks cancelled my order & requested my textbook "Return to Sender" without my knowledge or consent when all I asked was "what's the delivery date" and "how do I cancel this order". Why was I not notified that my order was being cancelled after you confirmed that my textbook was shipped? I have assignments to complete and this has been a stressful, waste of my time. Even now, my account shows my order as "active" and fails to explain that anything about my order has changed. Thank God that I track the package on the UPS website.

They do not state that it'll take 3-5 business days for the book to reach their facility, then another 3-5 business days in transit. Here's my response from them when I emailed them 'where's my book?' "Your order has the availability of “Usually Ships in 3-5 Business Days”. We expect this item to take 3-5 business days to come into stock for shipping." FALSE ADVERTISEMENT WHEN I PLACED MY BOOK ORDER!!! I did not know knetbooks did not even have my book in stock at their warehouse. They are waiting to recieve my book in their hand, so they can ship it to me. They are acting as the middle-man. When I could of just ordered my book from the same company they order their books from. Every time I call customer service only 1 person answers. This company (if you can call it that) DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THEIR EDUCATION! I have bought/rented textbooks from various websites and have never had an aweful experience with any, until now!!! They false advertise!! Even their "why rent from knetbooks" because most orders ship in 48 hours....LIE!!! I am now going on a week since I ordered my book. I would like to cancel my order, but read from comments that you have to pay restocking fee and everything else. If I ordered right now from another company and paid $10 more dollars for my book, I would still receive it before my knetbooks book. NEVER EVER EVER ORDER FROM KNETBOOKS.COM. I should of realized not to order my educational textbooks from them bc they have 2 oxymoron spellings in their uneducated company name. A great company would refund the money to their very unhappy customer and customer still receive the product. But bc knetbooks is not a great company and does not care about their customers, I don't expect any kind gestures to be given.
I ordered two books last week and I'm pretty sure I even paid an extra $5 for a two day shipping. I go online and check my renting status and its still stating "pending"!!! Here I am a weeks later 3 missing quiz grades and $70 short because neither book has come in! I was on hold for a good 30 minutes and no one answered my call!!! I order my math book from knetbooks Aug 27, 2013 today is September 4, 2013 and I still haven't received it. I look at my tracking order and my book is in Columbus, Oh and I have no clue why it is there bc i live two hours west of columbus..and the funny thing is customer service still haven't called me back
Its now been two full weeks and I still haven't receive my book yet, like some customers before, the order says still processing so that means it either haven't been shipped yet because they ran out the book or it is either lost in in shipping, i am very upset there is no notification or tracking information to see where and when the books will arrive. This is the worst website ever to rent college books, i thought it is reliable but judging by the many negative reviews this is not the place to do business, Since Ive been longing the book, i order elsewhere so now i want my full refund back because Knetbooks is not the place to trust. I am done and will not be partaking in this scam ever!!!
I paid extra for expedited shipping and it promised delivery within 5 business days. Yesterday 6am it got to "local post office" but no delivery, and by 3pm today (5th business day), the mailman came but there's no book and online tracking still showed pending. I called Knetbook immediately but they've gone home left me with a shared answering machine. Desperately I went on [external reference] and rented another book, total came out cheaper AND I got to read the book online for free while waiting! When I saw this website I decided to check my tracking one last time and wow, USPS has backdated the proof-of-delivery to two hours ago and magically my book was "delivered". I had my book shipped to my parents' house so I had to drive 30min again to chase that book when I was just there waiting all afternoon! My luck finally came and the book was there. Now I'm home, cancelled [external reference] and got full refund. Oh with this experience, how can you trust their shipping??? I know they don't own post office but they go with a carrier (UPS) that uses post office that lies on their POD! For us going to a public college, classes are extremely hard to get so I could NOT have rented the book earlier because I wouldn't know what classes I'd end up with. I rented the book the same day I got the class on 8/27 and I have an exam this weekend. I think [external reference] free online ebook is the way to go next time.
I rented 2 books on 8/23 and received first book on 8/30. The following day i had to drop the class. So on 8/31 i requested a return shipping label. Unaware they charge 10% restocking fee and deduct for both shipping labels each way. from $138 to $110. I am still trying to get a prepaid shipping label oh and you only have 15 days or is it 25 days to return book for refund from the day they supposedly shipped. The website says 2 different things. Oh and its now 9/4/13 and still have not received my second book, Which i asked to have cancelled but they changed my order status from processing to (drop shipping)??? So instead of cancelling my order as i requested, they changed status so to not cancel my order. I have not received a tracking number as of yet. I should have never deviated from my regular rental store like collegebookrenter.com. Please do your self a favor and stay away, far away from this company.
