I rented a textbook Intro to Statistics and they sent a very shitty copy (cover coming off and dried pages), but I figured it was a rental so it shouldn't be a problem. Now they are charging me the full amount for the book.
I would not recommend this place to rent books. I am in Doctorate studies and learning the SPSS software which I purchased but did not need to purchase the additional statistical book, so I decided to rent it. This was my first time renting a book. The book came in a terrible state with writing/highlighting/torn pages/spine broke, but I figured "I'm only renting it for 4 weeks or so". I returned the book and received an email that they tried to charge my bank $87 for the purchase price because they got the book returned with damage. Mind you, I returned it in the same state I got it! Please go elsewhere. If they're renting out books in a terrible state, who knows how many other people they're charging full price for the damaged book and re-sending it out as a rental book. I believe it is unethical and amoral. I will never use them or recommend them.
IF YOU WANT YOUR BOOK ON TIME OR AT ALL, DONT RENT FROM KNETBOOKS.COM. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS WERE RUDE AND IMPATIENT. I CALLED ON WED AND THE REP SAID IT WAS SHIPPED OUT AND SHOULD BE THERE BY THE END OF THE WEEK, I CALLED BACK ON FRIDAY AND ANOTHER REP SAID IT WAS LOST IN TRANSIT AND WILL REFUND MY MONEY IN ABOUT 2-10 BUSINESS DAYS!!! I RECOMMEND CAMPUSBOOK RENTALS, THEY DELIVERED MY BOOK TO ME IN 3 DAYS AND THATS WITH STANDARD SHIPPING!
False Advertising!!!!!!! horrible Customer Service!!!!!!! No Supervisor to talk with when called!!!!!!
I have also had a horrible experience with this company. they charged me for a book i never received and now they can not find my order. they have horrible customer service. no one responds to emails and you can never talk to an actual person on the phone. I was told to report them to the better business bureau, and I have just filed my complaint. Yall can do the same if you feel it is necessary.
I write this as I sit on hold for 30 plus minutes. No reply emails after two sent their way. I am contacting the better business bureau.
First of all, a coupon code was offered at checkout. It had not expired, but the discount would not go through. Second, the site mentions free shipping, period. Ok, it is the consumers job to beware, but I fell for it. Shipping is free one way. Not only do you have to pay the shipping charges they ask for when you print out the shipping label, you also have to pay a 10% "handling fee". They want to charge me $7 in shipping to return a paperback book. What is curious to me is that when you place an order, one of the shipping choices is "ground shipping" for $5, which is supposed to get the book to you a little faster than the free shipping choice. So why are they charging me $7? I e-mailed them once about the coupon code and once about the shipping and have not received a reply.
I ordered books on Jan 5 and my credit card was charged, never received the books. Checked credit card statement and my account was credited back the $. I have tried 3 times to call them. First time on hold 30 minutes, second time 34 minutes and then 43 minutes. I indicated that I would like a call back, but have not received one. I sent an email and haven't heard back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
Ordered my books. Order was cancelled. Found other service to order two out of three of my books from and ordered the third book through them. Order was cancelled. I've been sitting on hold for over an hour trying to talk to somebody about my cancelled orders.
Horrible customer service! Do no use this company. They don't even tell you they charge you and they are the biggest hassle to deal with. They will charge you and give no reason for it what-so-ever. DO NOT USE.
I have yet to recieve the book I ordered on the 7th. Didn't take them long to take my money. Checked with UPS regarding the tracking number and was told labels are electronically generated by the shipper but until UPS recieves the package, they cannot do anything with the book. I have sent 2 scathing emails (Sunday night and Monday night) regarding lack of customer service and tried calling 2 times (on hold for 20 minutes before got cut off). Tonight called at 3:49 CST and got office hours are until 5 pm EST and they were closed. Hello, 3:49CST = 4:49EST. Why are they closed already? Then tonight when I got home I had a horrible time even getting into the website. I send a "Cancel my Order but bet that won't go anywhere either. I seriously think we all need to spread the word...Don't do business with this company (I think they are actually serviced by ECampus so beware there also). Now my daughter in Texas has started classes and no books in site for some of her classes. This is beyond frustrating. Should we all contact our state attorney generals offices to file complaints?
I have yet to receive my textbook and I am already disappointed. I have spent over 2 hours collectively attempting to reach their customer service. That alone is unacceptable. On top of that the tracking number for USPS does not register. When I finally got in contact; they said it is common for USPS to not scan the tracking labels correctly. My suggestion is to use a different carrier then, I have never had such a problem with bookrenter.com or chegg.com. The representative was nice, however was not able to assist me with my issue. I will more than likely never use this site again.
I had returned the wrong book by accident. Shipped their book to another company. I found this out Dec28 when they charge my account for a replacement book. The other company returned the incorrect book no problem and I have mailed it to knet book. They have received the book and I am still waiting to get my incorrect book shipped back from them. Also I have. Not been refunded any money! Tried emailing and calling get response from email but just saying charge me more money and that they will send he request for returned book to the other department. WORSE COSTUMER SERVICE EVER!!!
As a student in college, I try to shop cheap for textbooks since it's so expensive. I guess this should be this company's motto. I rented a book and when I received this book the pages were torn away from the spine. I did not think to call and complain about this issue considering the book was for an online class. Two days after my rental due date they withdrew $134 out of my bank account. I called and complained stating that the book was already in bad shape when I received and was told that I could only receive $80 back EVEN THOUGH I have ALREADY paid a rental fee as well. So in return, it is like I bought the book. This place is a horrible company that does not fairly treat their customers. I would suggest no one to use this company. Let me also mention that I was on hold for 20 MINUTES before I even talked to anyone.
I rented a book and returned it. They rejected the return because they claimed the book's condition was unacceptable. Then they charged me for the cost to replace the book. The price they charged me was for a new book even though the book was used. I will never use knetbooks again to rent a textbook. Their rental agreement is extremely subjective when it comes to the condition of the book. I have no control over what happens to the book during shipping.
They offered a college book with internet access (internet access in the title) And when I saw that they MAY not include things like cds and such I asked about it. Well before they sent my book. They answered that it may or may not have the internet access that the title says it has. I said do not send the book then!. They sent it the next day and the odyssy began. I waited nearly 3 weeks to receive the book. never opened the package and sent it back all the while asking for a refund because they didn't send the book including internet access that I paid for. Canned reply's always saying (what the fine print says about maybe not including that kind of stuff; even though it clearly says in the title of the book I paid for that the access IS included) and that they haven't received the book yet. Then three weeks later they say we got the book. Now they say it needed to be returned in 25 days or they can not refund the money!!!!!????? Oh how I hate these @#$%^#$#@#$@%@$%$ (expletives deleted)
Honestly this is the WORST text book rental company I have ever seen. I was not told the book was not in stock, however I received every other email from your company AND they had no problem taking my money. I paid the extra under the impression that I would at least get the book by TODAY however it was just shipped today. I will not recommend this company to anyone, this is my first and last time getting books for here!!
I ordered the books on a Monday morning and paid extra for shipping yet the orders were processing for 2 1/2 days. I sent a cancel order email and no response. I called on the number they have listed and waited 20 minutes and the system had said they would call me back so I don't have to wait. Never received a call back from them and I had sent another email canceling my order. I finally received a "shipped order" from them when I had tried canceling on three different occasions before. They finally replied and said that I would still have to pay the 10% stock fee?! Horrible Service please anyone reading this save your money and rent from another source.

I ordered two books (rentals) from knetbooks, none was shipped on time. One was late but did arrive, the other was never shipped. I waited and waited but nothing in the mail, nothing in my inbox. No sign and no contact. I had to call them myself to find out what was up, and the lady gently tells me that the book I ordered was not available and that they would cancel the order. I had been waiting for that book for almost three weeks!! Was anyone going to contact me and let me know??! I was so pissed. Customer service takes forever to pickup, I guess they are busy for a small staff. Overall I am not ordering from them again. No.
I just completed another course where the best price on the textbook (Managerial Accounting) I could find was with Knet. My other coursebook wasn't available so I did order that one from another company, but this is the 3rd time I have had a transaction with Knet, and the rental and subsequent (FREE) return was trouble-free- just like the first two times.
While I don't know the specifics of everyone else's dealings/transactions, I have no trouble, yet again, providing a great review for Knet. The order was placed online, and returned with the free shipping label that they provide, and I just today got confirmation that the return was received and processed. Two thumbs up for Knet for me.
Edit to add: My first two transactions were a rental that I had to return because of a cancelled course- no problems! I emailed "Cassie" and she handled the return and refund for me promptly. A couple of months later, I enrolled again in the previously cancelled course, re-rented the book again, and had a pain-free transaction- from rental through (free) return.
My rating may change later because I just got my books and I haven't had to deal with a return yet, but it's gone smoothly. I'm surprised and sad that a lot of people had trouble, but I didn't have any trouble at all. In fact, the books were supposed to get here September 4th and I got them August 31st. Hopefully I don't have to call customer service, since it seems from everyone else's reviews that it's a nightmare, but I've had no problems.
after wasting an hour and a half of my day trying to get through to customer service because of my dire need of the book i had ordered a week prior and it still had not even shipped, they hung up on me as soon as the word refund left my mouth..But oh no im a very stubborn person so i called back, again i was hung up on, after calling back again and waiting 15 minutes on hold, i got through to a csr who did not hang up on me but wasnt pleasant! Thankfully she cancelled my order though she had an attitude about it.. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WONT GET UR BOOK ON TIME OR GET IT EVEN SHIPPPED ON TIME!!!
First time using knetbooks.com. They sent me somebody elses order by mistake. After calling customer service, and enduring a long hold time, I was told that there had been a day in the warehouse were wrong books were sent out. They didn't have any more copies of the book I had ordered and would issue me a refund.
The customer service agent was apologetic but could offer me no other alternative than getting the book from somewhere else.
I'd advise against using them. For any online bookstore shipping is a critical part of the business and their shipping is woeful.
I order a textbook and when I received it although the package was addressed to me the book was not what I had ordered and the packing slip that came with it was also not mine. It was for a lady in Florida. When I called customer service I was on hold for 30 minutes than got disconnected. I called back and was on hold for more than 45 minutes. When I finally spoke to someone I was told that "something was going on in the warehouse and them were making mistakes". He told me that the book I needed they were out of and that I would not receive a refund until I sent the incorrect book back to them. I ask to speak to a supervisor 3 times and he finally put me on hold to get her. When he came back he said that she was really busy and could not talk to me but that he would give me a $20 in store credit. I was well over it at this point and I ask what I had done wrong in this transaction that I need a refund back immediately since I had to go somewhere else to get the book. He told me that I had done nothing wrong that they were at fault (he was yelling at me at this point.). I told him that I still wanted to speak to a supervisor he told me to hold on which I did and then promptly hung up on me.
I will not order from this company again or any of there other company's if this is the way that handle things. The other companies are ecampus.com, biggerbooks.com, knetbooks.com, and sellyourbooks.com. (The guy I talked to told me that these are the other companies that they have.)

I ordered book. It states 2 to 4 days to process. A week later I call since books shows still processing. Oh we dont have it in stock and we are still trying to purchase the book. How do you sell a book you dont have in stock. Now I had to order the book from another site and pay for expedited shipping so my son has it to start class. Never again. Never had this problem with Cheggs or Bookrenters. Learned my leason.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Let me tell you about my nightmare with this company. I rented a business statistics book for $60. I remember it taking a little while to get the book, which was not a big deal because I ended up not needing the book. The teacher for the class did almost everything online so the book was left in the box in which it was shipped. I recieved an e-mail saying that the book was late on May 13, 2012, and that my card was being charged $120. Right above this in red it clearly stated that the book was due June 01, of 2012. So the nasty email was not needed, and I took it offensively. Then I check my bank account and I was charged for the book anyways, which sadly overdrew my account (poor college kid problems) When I contacted customer service they informed me that my book was sent back damaged, the binding was completley removed from the book. Considering I didn't even use the book at all, this had to have happened in transit back to Knetbooks. I had shipped the book back in PERFECT condition in the same box and packaging in which it was sent to me. UPS automatically covers up to $100 worth of damage, but Knetbooks informed that I had done the damage because there is no way it could have happened in transit. Calling me a liar is something I will not stand for. I just graduated from a very strict Christian College, where we uphold the best character possible. I would not be writing this if this was not the complete and whole truth. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND USING THIS COMPANY, DUE TO THEIR BAD BUSINESS ETHICS AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I ordered a book and it was over a week late. As any college student knows, this is a nightmare. I am in my first week of classes and most campus bookstores require returns within the first week of school.
All Knetbook would tell me is that they have to wait for USPS and give them 14 days before doing anything.
It takes them 2-4 days to process a book. What that means is that it takes a bunch of bumbling idiots to run around a warehouse for 4 days to locate the physical book and figure out how to ship it.
To say the best, this company did deliver the promised book on time albeit extremely slow and on the final delivery deadline day. From there it all went downhill. I will state that I made a mistake and sent the incorrect book back. After speaking to a representative who stated that she would contact me when the incorrect book was logged and return it, at my cost, which makes sense, and that I would have to return their book still, I agreed to do so. Needless to say, 3 months later they still have not logged the book that was sent in error. They have charged my care the full purchase price of the rental from them after informing me that I did not send their book back (with no mention of the book I did send), and their customer service...a joke. Apparently, this department was staffed with poorly trained persons who could care less about a book, customer service, or the job they supposedly were hired to do. A bunch of monkeys in a barrel could get more accomplished than this company! RENTER BEWARE! Use bookrenter or one of the other more reputible companies out there. Be sure to research. If I had done so, as I did AFTER my experience, I would have realized that renting from this shady business was a poor decision on my behalf. I'll know better next time! Trick me once, shame on you knetbooks, trick me twice...don't worry, it won't happen again!
On Monday I ordered a textbook from Knetbooks.com for the first time. The site not only gave me the cheapest price online, but the free shipping was definitely a bonus. I received the book in the mail today and am pleased to say it is exactly what I ordered. My other experiences with textbook renting have not been as smooth and as positive as this one. I appreciate a company that keeps their promises and values their customers as much as Knetbooks.com.
Book delivered within 48 hours. Going to order all my course books here and save myself a fortune. Really great idea and you can write notes in the margins.
Rented a book for $60. Was suppose to come with a CD and didn't. HAD to pay $140 for CD because it was required by the course. Book was never used because everything was on the CD. Book was due for return in December. Never got notice, never thought about it. Was charged $146.66 for not returning the book. Returned the book January 9th and was only credited 50%. Every other company I've rented from has emailed me that the book was due. Since it was never used this year, no one thought about returning it. It was returned in plenty of time to re-rent it for the Spring semester. STAY AWAY FROM KNETBOOKS! Wish I would have read these reviews BEFORE I rented. Wish I could leave NO stars!
If I could give them no stars, I would. I absolutely hate this company and I am never going to rent from them again. They charge you way before they even ship your order out, which by the way, took forever. Also, I called their customer service number and waited for "the next available agent" for about an HOUR before I finally gave up. I needed to speak with them about something that was time sensitive and it is unacceptable for them to have kept me or anybody else waiting for THAT LONG. It's funny, because their automatic answering machine says "your call is important to us", etc. Well if it is indeed very important, then answer it! I am so disappointed and will never use this company or any other companies that are affiliated with them.
I place an order online on September 2, 2011 and a week passed by up to this time my order has NOT even ship. Take note, they already CHARGED my visa card the following business day! I tried to call their toll free number a couple of times and it keeps me disconnected whenever I select to speak with the customer service option. I called the following day and was able to reach the customer service option, but I'm still on hold for more than 30mins and there's no live person to talk to (it is a system saying "thank you for continuing to hold, your call is very important to us").. And finally after more than 31 minutes of waiting, there's a customer service answered my call and he said that my order still in processing status (take note still on the processing status when I have place my order a week ago).. Because of this, I just decided to cancel my order and just place an order with more reliable book rentals like Chegg.com and Bookrenter.com..
I really regret ordering my book in this KNETBOOKS.COM, I thought I could save more money when I seen them that they offer lower rental rates. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with Knetbooks.com, not only they have charged my credit card WITHOUT even shipping my book up to this time! I would NOT RECOMMEND this website (knetbooks.com) to anyone as it is NOT a reliable website for renting a book!!
I paid for my books aug 26 and they didn't even ship until sept 2?! And, they had no problem taking my money the day ordered. Will not use again.
My card was charged on the day I bought the books. They are still "processing" the order and have not shipped it for 3 business days. Knetbooks has certainly processed long enough to charge my card. Most textbooks ship on the same day or the very next business day. BBB should get on this and Knetbooks should be getting at most a C from the reviews I am reading, not an A. I am already behind 3 classes. I will give it one more day before filing a complaint on them.
What happened to: "Your credit card will not be charged until your order is shipped"? I ordered my books Tuesday, August 30th and paid for ONE DAY shipping. My card was charged hundreds of dollars at the time of the order and it is now Tuesday, September 6th (7 days later) and my order has not even processed yet. I should have stayed with Chegg.com... it would have been worth the extra couple bucks I "saved" going with knetbooks.com. Since Knetbooks.com took my money and gave me nothing in return, I now have no money left on my gift card to order my books from somewhere else. I will now have to cancel my order with Knetbooks.com, wait a few days for my refund, then order the books from Chegg.com, because they ship the same day as the order is placed. Thanks to Knetbooks.com, I am now behind in my five classes and have already missed two homework assignments since I have no text books. If one could sue for these types of damages, I would be calling a lawyer. My grades are invaluable to me. It is absolutely despicable and unacceptable to rip off college students like this. Oh, and did I mention they are not returning my emails? What a terrible excuse for a company. They need to learn a thing or two from Chegg.com!
I ordered my book on Aug. 29 and I got 2 day shipping and it is the 3rd of september and still have not gotten my order. I keep getting notices form them that it's being processed. It also doesnt tell you if it's comming from ups or from the post office. The other thing I do not like about it is that they take your money right away before the order is even shipped. There is also no costumer service number anywhere on the website for you to call and ask any questions.
