Unusable fridge, £137.31 taken, recall refused (Job #224964)

Paid Martin Dawes £137.31 (£99 labour + £38.31 for a fan) under job #224964.

The engineer left, the fridge-freezer is still making severe noise, and the unit is completely unusable.

I originally booked this repair through Samsung—had I seen Martin Dawes' reviews beforehand, I never would have allowed them into my home.

I supplied clear video evidence of the ongoing fault. Instead of honoring their obligation under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to fix it, customer support has stonewalled and blocked a recall engineer from coming back.
Taking money for an incomplete repair and leaving a household without a working fridge is disgraceful. Formal Notice Before Action served.

A full refund or immediate re-attendance is required today before this proceeds to Money Claim Online.
Management needs to look at job #224964 immediately.

Faulty washing machine which a call out…

Faulty washing machine which a call out was arranged through Samsung via AO Warranty. Martin Dawes must be the FM company that has a contract to carry out warranty repairs. First engineer arrives Monday 10 August. Having inspected the issue was a frayed pipe underneath the washer, which he said and i agreed seems unusual. He said it could be down to a rodent issue, which I said we hadnt experienced any, as we have a cat that does a good job of keeping us free of anything of that nature, plus no other issues in the house to suggest. The engineer said that it may not be covered by warranty if this is found to be the case. He explained that the costs would be in the region of £40 or £50 say, for parts replacement, I said that is fine as its still cheaper than a £300 replacement, and i will wait to hear from the head office. I then get a return visit notification for today (Fri 14 Aug) with no costs attached, so assume that the repair is covered by warranty. Fine either way. However, I get a call 8am from another engineer who was booked in to repair, to say he wouldnt attend as its not covered by warranty, its definitely a rodent issue etc. etc. At this point I was confused as if this is the case, then head office should have contacted me in the meantime to tell me this is the case, present me with labour and parts costs and then decide to book it in. I asked why the parts werent ordered but he said they were ordered, so I couldnt understand why i am being told on the morning of repair that they will not turn up. I then contacted the head office and explained the situation, which they were also confused by. Once the situation was explained, I reiterated i was happy to pay the costs for the visit (as I or the previous engineer cannot prove there is or isnt a rodent issue so i was not contesting it). The job therefore gets rebooked in for later that day at a cost of £160. No problem. I explained we needed the washer back up and working today for a couple of important reasons. An hour or so later the head office calls back up and asks if i have gloves to provide to the engineer due to the nature of the call out. No problem, i went and got pvc gloves for him to use. An hour later the head office call again and state that, due to H&S concerns, the engineer is now unwilling to attend. This then confirms to me that the engineer never was intending to attend in the first place, having called at 8am citing the call out costs as a reason he would not attend, despite now that the costs had been sorted. I assured that there should not be any H&S concerns, having being working in the kitchen all morning and with our kids in the house also. I even went to the areas where the washing machine is located and moved them whilst on the call to demonstrate the area is clean, free and safe - and offered to send a photo (which is timestamped and attached to this review), but the office said ultimately they cannot force somebody to attend. I vented my frustration to the lady on the call and she was very understanding. I would rather the engineer be honest and give the reason why he is not attending, rather than use excuses to not attend. This now leaves us in the lurch a day before my wife has a large cleaning contract running into the weekend where she needed to wash cloths, and a holiday we depart for on Monday. All easily avoidable, and demonstrates the engineer sat on this until the last minute to drop us in it. We would have gladly arranged a repair with a local appliance specialist but now that is too late. The one star is for the first engineer that turned up initially, he had a good attitude and was helpful, and the lady that took the calls and tried to resolve. Obviously out of her hands as the engineers are probably sub contracted. The other engineer on the other hand has caused a lot more aggravation for me and my family when we could have saved his selfishness and gone elsewhere.

Worst company ever if I can give less…

Worst company ever if I can give less than 1 star I would !! They took my tv for a repair brought it back with multiple problems and not assembled correctly after keeping it for 15 days!! Then arranged another repair to fix the problems they caused. Now repair number 3 , took the tv on 3rd of July and kept it for a bloody month !! No emails no calls also not answering my emails. Very condescending customer service that tells you lies. And on the day I was issued a refund on the tv they kept for over a month they had the audacity to send me an email to say the repair is finished and they want to schedule for delivery!!!! Absolutely the worst.

Panasonic Television Repair

Been without my television now for about 6 weeks. Missed all of the world cup.
Zero communication from them, have rang them weekly for updates and was previously told parts were on order, but found out today when I rang again that the parts were only ordered yesterday. about 4-5 weeks later than the the original information.
No sign of my brand new television coming back soon.
Terrible service

Abysmal service. A month to repair a Samsung fridge

A month to repair a Samsung fridge, a week long wait for each appointment with a take it leave it we're too busy to care attitude. Missed appointments with no communication. No follow up once the engineer had been to establish the fault that we had already told them the fault code showed it was the compressor another week to order the parts another week for another appointment which was then missed without communication we had to chass them again. Avoid at all costs if your Samsung fridge fails dont call Martin Dawes just go buy and different brand of fridge because they will leave you hanging for a month. Martin dawes put some investment into your business you clearly need more engineers and invest in stock, we told you the fault code this repair could have been done in one visit within a week if you, the supposed Samsung repair agent kept the parts in stock

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever. STAY AWAY FROM THESE COWBOYS. They cancel drop off with minutes notice of waiting in all day after taking time off work. They don't provide you with a receipt when taking your Samsung TV. They dont provide you with a report of the exact problem or receipts and reports of the parts and issues with it even when promised by them as i need to claim back the full costs of the repair from Samsung. They don't answer there phones and you can't connect to head office to make any kind of complaint. Samsung uses these for repairs to there products without any come back to them. I will never ever purchase a Samsung product again due to MARTIN DAWES POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Monday 11th May further to my complaint and issues I've had no phone call off the female Manager. Yuri promised me on Friday that I would receive a phone call off her as requested today, but no one has rung me. Martin Dawes as just delivered back my TV and its not working properly there's now another issue with it and so they have had to return it back to the workshop again as the engineer only fixes white goods. This is the 2nd time I've had to take off a full day from work to be in to help them with the TV. I'm appalled by the service and lack of response to my complaints. I'm now going to have to take a 3rd day off work for the return of my TV once they have sorted out the original issue.

Had a brand new Samsung oven/microwave…

Had a brand new Samsung oven/microwave as part of my new kitchen.
On installation the oven/microwave would trip the entire kitchen Electrics. Fault was reported and this lot took it in for repair. Brought it back and the door wouldn't shut properly in order for the microwave to start. It really had to be slammed for the sensor to engage.
These idiots said because the door issue wasnt reported initially they wouldn't support the claim.
If the microwave wouldnt switch on in the first instance how would we know it had a sensor issue?
Absolute awful people, original supplier agreed with me and changed the microwave at their expense.
Wouldn't deal with these again

Note. We just wanted a working microwave. They never checked it worked before sending it back, they just made sure it turned on. Samsung should sack them off as the repair agent.

SCAM

SCAM. They ask for deposit 100£ to secure repair of my washing machine. 2 min look with tablet and ring back and say 200£ cost of repair. On my question for deposit. I was told it was covering just visit. They requested nearly 300£ for fixing. For this money you can buy new. Be careful they come without parts just to quick look and charge you 100£ for nothing.

Good morning Lucyna,

We’re sorry to hear that you’re not satisfied with the service provided.

To clarify, the £99 charge is a call-out fee. This covers the cost of sending an engineer to assess the fault, as well covering the labour for any repair that is carried out. It is not a deposit.

Any additional cost quoted beyond this relates solely to the parts required for the repair. We source these directly from the manufacturer, and unfortunately, the pricing of these parts is outside of our control.

We would like to reassure you that our service is not a scam. We aim to be fully transparent with our pricing and always provide quotes based on the actual costs we incur.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at escalations@martindawes.com.

Kind Regards
