Moneybookers won't help resolve this even after all the work I went through to register with them. This should be a simple credit/debit card transaction. They not only made it much harder than needs be but they have frozen the transaction. They have told me that I'll have to contact Ebay or my bank to have the transaction cancelled so I can try another payment method.
I will never use them again.
But this is a very faint attempt. ever since the moneybooker years and on to the new and exciting skrill ( language spoken by the klingons?) which is exactly the same only new (and exciting, for some) logo...
I recently bought an item in the UK from a UK company.
They charged in euros because 2 years ago I bought some software from Holland.
What with exchange rates both ways it cost me 10% more.
They say I will need to change my email (BTINTERNET) address to avoid this
This is unacceptable.
What an absurd security verification procedure. You log into your bank to generate an virtual card. Then you log in to your moneybookers account. Then you add the card to your card list. Then you verify it by getting a random amount deducted from it.Then you log back into your card account with your bank and check the statement for how much money they have deducted (In euros mind u) (most of the time a virtual card account never shows this random deduction....mine didnt show it after 24 hours)So then you play a guessing game...and god forbid you are wrong 3 times, you are screwed for 24 hours. So basically you are stuck for 24 hours.I wonder why any online merchant would use this crap moneybookers in the first place, unless they wished financial loss. What in the world makes someone come up with a system like this??????????????????
SKRILL Moneybookers - ARE SCAM , They steal money from you with hidden fees, they took 20% from withdrawal to bank account, but official commission was 1.8 euro,
SCAMMERS
I wanted to by Minecraft for my child, but gave up due to Moneybookers. I don't get it why I need to register all sorts of info. just to pay using a Visa.
And at first I thought I allready had an account at Moneybookers because when I entered my email and a password I was simply told that my account where closed, and then I triede to reopen it and where then told it was none existent.
I will for sure never create an account at Moneybookers, nor used them for paying anything.

1. Despite just 2 documents listed at their website required for confirmation: confirmation of id, and real address, in reality moneybookers sent me 3 or 4 addional emails each time asking for additional documents. I was ok to send all my business registration documents and certificates, letters to my address, letters from banks, etc. But when they said that my counterparties now should submit all the same documents, I was fed up, and it was already 2 months since I registered the account and couldnt unlock received funds. I asked them to close my accounts and cancel all transactions. At this point, surprisingly they approved my account without queries to my counterparts and additional documents from my side.
The impression I had, they did every efforts trying to make my account and funds blocked as long as possible, to use these funds.
2. Moneybookers are very inattentive and are not responsible for mistakes: one of the first operations I asked moneybookers to cancel one of two incoming transactions, providing all detailed information. But they managed to do the mistake and cancel the wrong one. They didnt apologise and said that this cancellation cannot be reversed. So, I had enough headache with my counterparties due to their mistake.
3. I could use moneybookers for an year, with some difficulties when they blocked my account for no reason and I had to call to UK from Russia and send same documents again. Until one day I discovered 100 USD were stolen from my account to email paysys@gamesys.an I immediately applied to moneybookers security system, and the only response I could receive in multiple weeks: "we cannot do anything and return your money. Sorry for inconvenience". "Inconvenience" they call theft from their system. Later I found out that robbery to paysys@gamesys.an have been made since 2008. Still, up to 2011 they made no action regarding this criminal account.
Now think of the following: when activating my account they requested my id, my actual address, my tax registration id, my bank account, all registration documents of my business, all data on my transactions, etc. I assume, they should have all the same data also on paysys@gamesys.an (if they apply same rules for all clients) They could easily sue the owner of this account, but they didnt do anything. They blocked MY account, but not the criminal account paysys@gamesys.an Do you know why? Make your own conclusions out of this.
Not to be accused of slander, I have emails confirming all of the above facts.

This service makes it just to difficult and annoying to make online shopping using their service with a Visa card.
1st verification: Visa Verify
In the payment window on the filesharing site, Visa Verify was demanded. Not unusual, i have encountered this a few times before when doing online shopping.
2nd verification: Snail Mail code
Right now a standard postal letter is on the way to me, containing a code, who also has to be used to verify my credit card, a letter that easely can take 1-2 weeks to arrive.
3rd verification: Debit ammount.
They have debited my account with a small random ammount between 1-3 Euro's, which is an ammount i also have to enter at their site to verify my credit card. Something that also take several days to be registered on my bank account.
Not before they have gotten all these 3 verifications on their site will they transfer the lousy 10 Euro's to the filesharing site for that 30 days account i only needed, so that they can provide me with the needed premium account data.
My suggestion to others: Don't bother. This service is not worth the problems if you want to pay for something on the internet.
April 20th update: Still no letter recieved from them via. postal service. Either they did not mail me a letter in the first place or some postal service has lost it.
April 21st Update: It looks like this service also sell peoples e-mail adresses after creating an account. After creating the account at their place i am suddently beginning to get lots of spam mails from online casinos even though i spefictly said that the account will NOT be used for gambling.
April 22nd update: Now they have locked the money transfer from my account and thereby made it useless. Now they demand a scanned copy of my passport as verification that i am the owner of the account, which they by the laws of my country are not authorized to do.
I don't know how british laws works, but that is an elligal request by the laws of my country and can get you in to a lot of trouble to have such a compagny policy.
April 23rd update: They are still causing problems. Even though they were provided with what is considered fully valid ID of my country, then they will not accept it as being valid and now demand new valid ID data and statements from my own bank such as postal letters with my name and adress on them no more than 3 months old.
My bank went fully digital more than a year ago, so they do no longer provide such postal letters to costumers, this happens digitally over online banking system.
I have told Moneybookers to simply force delete the account because i am tirred of them and their constant problems.
I don't mind loosing the only 10 Euros that was uploaded to the account, that is just a very small slap over one hand considering how problematic this compagny is.
At the same time as i have had this adventure with Moneybookers, then i have also been keeping the service who uses them as payment option updated about every problem Moneybookers has kept causing.
They are now searching for other ways in order to use credit cards as a payment option for their services.

So far it was the best and easiest way for me to make online transactions and payments. I ditched paypal and alertpay, cause there were too much hustle and online policies, which ruined online shopping, at least for me. F.e. my country is not supported by paypal, but I was registered under a different country for two years making payments. So they can take my money, but not support my country? Yeh good job paypal. Not to mention stupid money transactions and that anybody can claim money from you, and if you're on a trip somewhere or without internet you lose your money. Stick to payment only stupid paypal. And alertpay needs two days to transfer money from my card to my account in order for me to make payments. Wtf. Good bye both of you. I just closed the accounts, and stick to MB
I made an order through CJS (online game seller) on 20-Dec-2011. I picked their recommended billing option (moneybookers/skrill) because it was the only option CJS offered that allowed for paying by VISA. The transaction for EUR 47.01 was successful and moneybookers sent me a single email confirmation for that amount EUR 47.01 only. Also the vendor CJS confirmed that they only got that single transaction. In reality however moneybookers charged my visa card 2 times, first for the legitimate EUR 47.01 transaction I ordered, and also for a second unauthorized fraudulent transaction for EUR 47.06. Notice that it's almost identical to the legitimate transaction with the difference of EUR 0.05 almost like someone was hoping I wouldn't notice it on my credit card transaction. Both the merchant (CJS) and I opened official tickets with Moneybookers (Skrill). CJS opened to indicate they did not request the 2nd duplicate transaction and I opened mine to ask moneybookers to refund the duplicate transaction to my visa card, and to send me an CJS a reasonable explanation of why they charged my credit card fraudulently the second time and a summary of the measures they will take to make sure this doesn't happen again. Note that to file the complaint to moneybookers I had to create an account with them. This account didn't exist at the time of my purchase. Oddly I found the second duplicate transaction was listed as balance on my new moneybookers account created expressly after the duplicate transacation to complain about it. Very oddly moneybookers ignored my quesiton as to why the second duplicate transaction was made and instead insisted that due circumstances out of their control the second duplicate transaction couldn't be sent to the merchant (CJS) and was instead placed in my moneybookers account. This is a very unlikely story since the merchant didn't ask for the second transaction and neither did I, and the account mentioned didn't exist at the time of the transaction. It's also highly irregular that they directly ignored the text of my complaint asking for an explanation and for preventive measures against such theft in the future. Based on these evasive tactics and until I see different evidence form them in the future I would have to conclude that this was a deliberate action either on the part of moneybookers or independent action from one of their employees to either rob me of that second duplicate transaction or force me into using the funds through their service.
Although the firm is in the UK and seems to be reputable, their actions
just don't make sense. I will update this review (stars, text, subject)
if it turns out to be a technical error, they actually do refund the money
to my visa card, and offer a direct explanation and preventive action.
Until that time I would hesitate to use their services again,
and caution others of the same. My moneybookers ticket number is (# 169792700). CJS ticket number (#169795550), and my CJS ticket number for the same (4083) and my CJS order number (46529).

Here is the addition to my complaint to moneybookers on finding out they put the funds in a moneybookers account instead of back to visa where they got it from improperly:
Hello Moneybookers/Skrill: I wanted to add 2 things to my original complaint ticket # 169792700. The vendor (CJS) has filed their own support request to you (#169795550) for the same time indicating that they did not request the second duplicate transaction your service charged for (EUR 47.06) and that they did receive the correct (EUR 47.01) as indicated by their transaction records (transaction # ISC-26529). As I also had to create an account with moneybookers/srkill to file this support ticket I found that you had in fact reversed the duplicate transaction but didn't reverse it to my visa card. instead you reversed it to my new skrill account which currently shows a balance of EUR 47.05 and the last transaction being EUR -47.05 (the reversal). I therefore ask you to kindly return the funds for this duplicate transaction to my visa card, and if you could please also provide a reasonable explanation to myself and to CJS as to why this happened and as to the measures you will take to ensure it doesn't happen again to the future. The reason I ask is I am now reluctant to pursue and future financial dealings with both companies for fear of having to go through the lengthy process of chasing financial transactions and phone-calls with my bank and credit card company. Everyone loses when this type of error occurs.
here is the response email from moneybookers:
Dear Hani Obaid,

Update (8 days after double charge): Moneybookers/Skrill refunded the money. They gained (and I lost) 5% of the amount on the exchange rate, which if they are doing the same to other people is probably the point (imagine gaining GBP5 from 1 million people and more than that if someone doesn't notice the double charge on their bill). I can only assume the worst as they have still failed to provide their own reasonable explanation of why they did the duplicate charge and of preventive action they have taken to prevent it from happening again. I gave them every opportunity to do that both in the text of my complaint on their online system, via email, and via this review.
Have been using for a month to pay online stores that do not accept paypal. Fairly good security/verification processes leave me feeling confident my finances are secure.
Ganske fint alternativ til f.eks. PayPal. Dog er der lidt mange gebyrer for sælger, men ellers helt ok.
helt klart noget lort.
Been using MoneyBookers for the past year and I've been pretty happy with the transaction process thus far. Some ecommerce store only accept them instead of Paypal especially stores from the Asia region. The only thing that bugs me at times is the verification which can take some time but since it's for our own protection, I guess it's acceptable.
