The company is great! The magnets I received were adorable! Unfortunately, I ordered them at the beginning of December and just now received them this week (The 2nd week in January). Shutterfly was no... See more

Ordered a small cup with family…
Ordered a small cup with family vacation photos embossed.order the page of cup
Image so small with little information. Such as it was plastic. Was not expecting cheap plastic.also, LARGE letters JBP on the cup along with the pictures. quality control definitely lacking. Have not received any followup to correct this screwup. I could not recommend Shutterfly to anyone after this experience.
I just received an order of photos…
I just received an order of photos (over 250+ 4x6 photos). I spend hours editing the photos that I take to make sure they are clear/not blurry and framed correctly. When I place an order, I go through each photo one at a time in the order to make sure of the same features before I place the order. Over 2/3 of the photos I received were cut off on the top or sides and most of them were blurry. I know for a fact that I didn't frame them that way on the order. Shutterfly's quality has gotten horrible and I will have to reorder most of these photos.

My wife and I spent 7 hours trying to make a photo album. I've used certified years ago and it was exceedingly easy.
This was a sh-tshow. It was extremely confusing and it took me literally 7 hours to figure out what to do in order to get the book about 90% done. I left the computer till the next day in order to continue and all I got was your session has expired reload program. It then said your changes may not have been saved. I asked for help I called Shutterfly and I got top level management in order to try to fix that and they couldn't. I had no chance but to hit the button that said reload because everything else was grayed out and not clickable. Guess what? It erased everything. 7 hours worth of work and they can't do it G-d damn thing about it. I would give them mine is zero stars for whoever designed this it is the absolute stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I will never use Shutterfly again and neither should anybody else

Quality and Service are Gone
I have been a loyal customer for many years. But over the last couple of years the quality and service have declined significantly. Creating Photo Books has become more complex rather than easy like it was previously. Font changes don't stick, it's difficult to navigate photos and any type of customization is very challenging - I think they want you to giveup so they can make the book and charge more. Also customer service is really gone down hill, no one can answer questions - they jus tell you to use a different browser or treat you like an idiot.. So sad, I need to find another vendor.

Receiving wrong photos
Ordered over 200 family photo prints on 8/23/26. The package that arrived on 8/27/26 was addressed to me but contained a different customer's photos. This means my prints probably went out in a package addressed to someone else and were delivered to their household.
Shutterfly offered a refund. I accepted it, but a refund doesn't recover over 200 photographs of my family from a stranger's home. On 8/28 I emailed customer service and their privacy team asking where my order was actually delivered and whether my prints were recovered or destroyed. As of 9/4/26, no acknowledgment from either.
If you are considering ordering personal or family photographs with Shutterfly, understand that a refund is the only remedy on offer when something goes wrong. Your images are not recoverable once they are in someone else's mailbox.

I ordered the first time and the poem…
I ordered the first time and the poem on the back was askew, called customer service right away to fix the issue. CSA said the poem was fixed but it wasn’t. There are no spaces between the words. I paid $16 for shipping on the first order and $26 to supposedly fix the issue. I know how I laid out the poem and neither order was correct. I’m embarrassed I have no choice but to use these Saturday. Fix your website or proof what you are printing. No satisfied at all.

I needed help creating a memorial card…
I needed help creating a memorial card for my husband and I typed on "help" on the Shutterfly site. A young, lady named Shanice came on the phone quickly. She was very patient and helped me develop just what I wanted. She was a terrific help.

The photos sent to me were not the…
The photos sent to me were not the exact replica of the ones I uploaded. All they did was enlarge the photo and cut off the outside inch of the picture. Their 100% Happiness guarantee is not real. Customer Service says I made the mistake and that I needed to open a different editing platform to edit my photos before I uploaded them. Then why use Shutterfly? So I eat the cost of these prints and don't get what I wanted because I used Shutterfly's own editing tools.

One of my FAVORITE companies
My experiences with Shutterfly have been incredible. Graduation invitations, Christmas or holiday cards, Canvas wall art, Vacation books and even my daughter's wedding book have all been incredible. The latest example of service happened after I made a mistake and sent a photo album to the wrong address. It was totally my fault. Shutterfly offered to send a replacement at no cost to me. That far exceeded any expectation I had and confirmed all of the good vibes I've ever had about the company. I am planning to become an investor. I love this company. Even though their support is preferably Chat, the care and concern for me as a valued customer comes through every time.
I have been making Shutterfly photo…
I have been making Shutterfly photo books for years. Today I began a new project. I have been working for several hours and it has been the most frustrating project I have ever worked on. The upload took forever and kept stopping, the photo layouts have changed, the backgrounds and embellishments are very hard to navigate. I am sadly going to try another site to make my future books. Not sure why Shutterfly would change to new software , it was not a good improvement.

Don’t waste your time
Worked for hours on my project for my mom’s 80th birthday. Saved it periodically throughout the development.
Suddenly the app glitched and my project was lost.
I required it done by today so that I could get it in time and all
I get is a ‘Saved Projects Error’.
So many hours wasted plus now I don’t have a special gift for this momentous occasion.

New Photo Book Software is HORRIBLE
I have been creating photo books with Shutterfly since 2012, however, the new Photo Book Editor is horrible! I will be using a different company for the first time in 14 years. Whoever created the new software has, obviously, never created a book themselves. It will take me hours upon hours to create a book with their "new and improved" software. Save yourself a LOT of time and use a different company!

Delivered to wrong address or not received
2nd time with delivery. Whomever they use now is terrible. First time it was delivered 2 doors down. This time they said it was delivered, and it was not. They did make it right by re-ordering and expediting shipment for free plus a gift certificate. They need to get away from Pitney Bowes and whomever they use for delivery.

Had to Purchase photos from JCP then was directed to Shutterfly to download but Shutterfly didn’t allow for download, only upload. I have NO desire to otherwise use Shutterfly or make another purchase so I am out $80 and no photos to download to my device

Why is Shutterfly pressing the self-destruct button?
I’ve made photo books with Shutterfly for years, and I’ve recommended them heaps. But the new photo book editing platform is horrific. It’s mind-blowing that such an amazing service has dramatically regressed, and totally unnecessarily. For years (decades?) it was the industry standard - classic case of either a company getting bored of itself long before its customers do, or a new VP needing to impose themselves. Either way, based on the avalanche of reviews like this, Shutterfly is going to be losing heaps of business if it doesn’t do the right thing and just offer its amazing ‘old self’ as a classic option for people to use.

Don’t waste your time or money
Don’t waste your time or money getting photos printed here. The worst quality. Blurry, off centre, randomly edited cropped strangely bizarre off to the side absolutely destroys your photos. NOPE.

Inflated Prices with Discount Coupons
I've used Shutterfly for years. I've placed two orders in the past year and found the prices seemed quite high. Yes there were coupons available, but what a pain. What happened to offering a good product at a decent price instead of jacking up the price only to offer a coupon to get 40% off.
Shutterfly: The great, the good, and the ugly
I came to Shutterfly as a former Costco Photo Lab customer. We think the world of Costco, so I figured that if Costco chose Shutterfly as its photo partner, they had to be a solid company.
We've used Shutterfly for prints and enlargements for several years, and they've consistently done a great job.
Recently, I turned to Shutterfly to create a photo book. In my experience, Shutterfly's web platform for designing a photo book took some getting used to, and its complimentary Photo Book Design Service was just okay. The design service gave us a good starting point, but by the time we finished customizing the book, very little of Shutterfly's original design remained.
As a novice at designing photo books, I contacted Shutterfly Customer Service many times. They were largely helpful, and only a few representatives fell short of being excellent. Unlike Nations Photo Lab, Shutterfly offers very customer-friendly support hours and appears to have an adequate number of customer service representatives answering the phones.
Nations Photo Lab, by comparison, has much more limited customer support. They answer the phone only Monday through Friday, have very limited business hours, and appear to have too few representatives available. Almost every time I called Nations Photo Lab Customer Service, my call went to voicemail.
Shutterfly ultimately produced a beautiful, high-quality photo book for us, although it took a couple of tries to get there. The first photo book we received arrived with a crushed spine. The shipping box itself was undamaged, so I assume the book was damaged during production and that Shutterfly's quality control failed to catch it. Fortunately, Shutterfly was easy to work with and immediately sent a replacement.
The replacement book arrived today, and it is spectacular. Ironically, this time the shipping box was badly damaged, but the photo book inside was in perfect condition.
Shutterfly's complimentary shipping is something of a roll of the dice. They use UPS SurePost, which, in my experience, has been disappointing. Not one of the four Shutterfly packages we received arrived by the estimated delivery date. Every shipment was delivered one or two days later than promised. UPS SurePost is a combination of air service by UPS, the ground service by the United States Postal Service; the USPS part of the equation seems plagued, and problematic.
Even with the generous Costco discount, Shutterfly's pricing was on the expensive side—about $105.00 for a basic 50-page photo book.
I understand that Nations Photo Lab is generally regarded as a higher-quality photo lab. I'd like to love Nations Photo Lab, but I'm having a hard time doing so for several reasons:
RE: Nations Photo Lab (in comparison to Shutterfly):
I find its web platform difficult to navigate and not especially intuitive;
Customer Service is available only Monday through Friday, with no weekend support;
Customer Service hours are very limited—even shorter than traditional banking hours;
The Customer Service department appears to be staffed by too few customer service representatives, making it difficult to reach a representative
Despite those criticisms, I understand that Nations Photo Lab produces a higher-quality photo book than Shutterfly. I can't personally comment on that, because we have not yet ordered a photo book from Nations Photo Lab.
Overall, my experience with Shutterfly has been positive. Their customer service is responsive and easy to reach by phone, their web platform is good once you become familiar with it, and the finished photo book is beautiful and of very high quality. My biggest complaint with Shutterfly is their use of UPS SurePost, which has been consistently unreliable, in my experience.
I have been happy with my ordering from…
I have been happy with my ordering from Shutterfly for years. I have made many photo books.
Recently, things didn’t go so well and twice, I received my books with pages stuck together which pulled the ink off the pages.
Luckily, I had time before I gave out the graduation books.
Twice, and very quickly they remade the books for me!! And, when I tried to order a gift box for one of them, they added it free. It is a beautiful well-designed gift box and my two new photo books are perfect.
I would encourage anyone with “any” sort of problem to call them. Their very well-trained staff will give you personal attention. For customer service, I would rate Shutterfly among the best.
