Worst Site for Poetry

With nearly 900 poems in the website and designated a platinum member, I find it appalling to report someone costs me money. Asking question costs me money. I am so disgusted with this website. I’m about to publish my 28th and 29th books of poetry. This is the worst poetry website on the entire internet. Epilogue: after this review was posted the website wrote to me basically threatening to delete my account if I didn’t change my review. I standby everything I’ve said. This website monetizes other people’s poetry and uses micro transactions for everything from questions to poetry contests and limits people to only using PayPal despite having a debit or credit card and a credit score above 750 such as what I have. I have been disappointed so often. I finally chose to close my account and have all 920 poems deleted. He who can destroy a thing controls a thing and since I am the author and poet, I have resumed control over my work. I will never allow myself to be controlled and I advise everyone to never post on this poetry website.

Vanity of Vanities (Ecclesiastes)

I am sure Poetry. Com is very good as a Vanity Publisher. It is always good to see ones efforts online and the community has benefits for interactions. Although I do write some poetry my main area of creativity is in Songwriting so I decided to step out from the Poetry.Com mailing list.I sent an e mail requesting unsubscribe and the response redirected me to a contacts page where my unsubscribe message was greeted with a $1 charge. Naturally I didn't put my bank details in on principle and my opinion changed as to what this company was about. Money grabbing vanity publisher. I was brought up in a creative environment and learned that if something is worth publishing the publisher pays the writer not the other way round. Vanity Publishing can boost your ego and meet like minded people but not for me. I will have to block them to avoid further e mails

No exposure

No exposure. Poems are chosen based on monetary reasons and the BBB gives them an F. I'd never share another poem here or join another contest. They're about money not good literature

Same as last time

Same as last time, four stars are being offered to rate the poetry platform.
The rate is not to affirm that I have a good acquaintance, or it is not a matter, whether I trust or not trust the poetry platform, however, as stated time and time again, this platform is a relieving window of my inner self, it is helping to vent out, what I inhale, all sorts of information, after digested/processed:- finally, time-to-discharge-what is stored in that inner-part-of-self/vacate to give in a space for other information to inhale to digest. The platform, means pricelessly a lot for me. This is not in terms of financial, but, more than that, - sometimes, after I jotted down what I feel and what I consider needs to be vented-out/ all that ideas which touch different areas of life, [ the feeling, after venting out, using this platform’s window, it is ‘ health’, by itself- to vent-out, what you consider/refer as analyzed-ideas from your soul/your inner body. Thanks for such platform of window. Thanks 🙏🏻 again.

Have always liked writing poetry as an outlet and this allows you to have your poems seen by people with a similiar disposition, they have monthly prizes to win if poem noteworthy enough, you can also review fellow budding poets work and get points for it, the more you do the less you may need to pay to promote and enter competitions, all in all a great site for those of us with a poetic bent.

Treasure Trove

I have collected over the last few years the incredible and inspiring works of contemporary poets whose works I would have otherwise never have known. This is one among many of the virtues I have discovered at this site. Another and closely related virtue is that Poetry.com provides writers from around the world to share their poetry to an exceedingly large community of readers: comments and words of encouragement and support are often left, and bonds of friendship among writers often fostered. That every poet from any background is offered an opportunity to share their voice is no small achievement.

I love this site.

I started using this site way back in 1996. I discovered it when I starting writing poetry and I wanted a place to keep all my writing. I loved it then, I had over a hundred on site and they would always offer me special products with my poetry on it. Once the new owners adopted this site, I started to feel excitement again cause I wanted to support this platform I’ve used since I was in high school. It’s different in many ways, but it has the same idea. I’d really like to see my old works but I think it was all erased after the new ownership.

I was introduced to your site by a friend who received information through mail in 2002.She encouraged me from her love of my poetry to enter the contest. I have a published poem in your book from that year. I love poetry when I’m going through tough times, it truly helps me express myself.
