After wadding though the weird site set-up, I finally had my system set-up the way I wanted it.
I placed the order (Monday) and figured the system would burn in on Tuesday-Thursday (3 day burn-IN) and would ship on Friday.
When I finally found that it had shipped (the next Wednesday, of the second week.
It shipped from Southern California to Northern California VIA FedEx, Then it was shipped down south to the middle of California, and handed over to The USPS (post office) which took then till the 3rd Wednesday to get to my post office, and since my post office only delivers to my house on Tuesday and Friday, The total time was.....
19 days
1 Holiday
2 Saturdays
2 Sundays
14 Business Days
When I finnally got my system, there was 2 loose stand-offs and 7 screws inside the box, there was also 1 screw that was stuck between a couple of components in the power supply, which if I had plugged it in would have blown the power supply up.
With all these parts loose like this, WHAT are the odds they did ANY burn in on my system?
In the middle of the second week I called and the person I talked to did not sound like it was Her job to help me.
If the where any negative Stars I would mark them.
Ordered system on 2/15, delivery estimated by 2/27. At 5pm CT on 2/28, I called to find out where my order is. I got an email back 1hr later, here is the full text;
FedEx tracking XXXXXXXX
Checked the tracking, the package was picked up by FedEx 45mins AFTER my call.
FedEx estimates delivery on 3/5. Almost 3 weeks after the order, with no communication from Portatech since the order. No attempt to explain, no attempt to make it right.
There's lots of barebones vendors out there, I'll be trying one of them next time.
Very bad experience! Promised a 'factory sealed' hard drive, but received an OEM in a plastic clamshell (which wasn't sealed anyway) and when contacted, claimed that was how they received it. And item was shipped in a flimsy USPS pack with NO CUSHIONING! Will never do business again! Stay AWAY!
I ordered a computer from Portatech.com just over a year ago. After 7 months, my power supply went out. I called them and they did mail me a new power supply. But now, again, just over 7 months later, the new power supply just went out. I called their support number and the lady said I only purchased a 1 year warranty. So I told her that it hasn't been a year since I have received the new power supply at which time she told me it was from the purchase date. I can't believe that an electronic part is only under warranty from 1 year from purchase date, which makes no sence. Now I have to go out and buy $100 part for a computer I bought just over a year ago.
I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. Since now I know what type of cheap parts they deal with and what their pathetic excuse of a 'warranty' is. I would not suggest buying from this company. I will stick with Dell now. I have gone through 3 dell computers, which I have now setup my newest Dell again and it's running fine. The power supply just went out on it after 6 years. Which I have to say is a lot longer than I could hope for considering the poor quality of PortaTech.com's equipment.
