Everything is beautiful until you pick up your car
I specifically apllied and paid rentalcars.com with lots of time before my trip for a Peugeot 207 Cabrio and when got to pick up it I was told "non che" that means we don´t have it at this time, so I was given the choice of a small Audi or Mercedes and decided for the last. It was new, was diesel, but was not what I asked for.
With all the time it took to understand what non che means and our tight schedule we took the Mercedes but never was revised on the outside or given a form to be signed as conformed, eventhough the car look new but was inside a poor lighted garage.
My surprise, after riding almost 300 Kms to the south, I found out that had minor scratches on the front right hand side bumper and it cost me almost $400 at the dropoff in Milan, eventhough I paid for premium comprehensive damage insurance.

Very Nice, helpful staff
The only reservation I had about this company is their Full - Empty fuel policy. I tried to book Full - Full, but the extra cost made it unpractical. The best way for the client would be Empty - Empty, this way the client is responsible for the cost of the fuel.
However, having said this, the staff were very nice and helpful and we were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Gerona rocks
The staff at Rentalcars were really helpful and pleasant making us feel very welcome. and we were delighted when an excited staff member told us we had a Fiat 500 AND we had a choice of colours!
And the car did not let us down in our expectations, what fun we had!

Wrong vehicle, not cleaned but we made it work for us
We waited for 25 minutes before being served at the collection desk at Pisa Airport. The staff were friendly though. The car we were given was not as ordered and despite Budget's protests, it was from a larger, and to us unsatisfactory, category. We wanted a Ford Galaxy (7 seater) and got a much larger Mercedes Vito. The vehicle had been filled with diesel but not cleaned. The interior was dirty and there was rubbish in glove box and storage places. No one checked the existing damage with us. However, we managed to spend a week in Tuscany with this over-sized van despite it being very difficult to park and manoeuvre in small villages with narrow streets. We returned it in Firenze where the staff were excellent.

standing in line forever
Line before the desk of Goldcar was very long and the Portugese make a sport on making things complicated and with a lot of administration leading to endless information and waiting for those behind. I used the Rentalcars pre-paid option and decided during my stay to extend the period to rent the car. As I was on the airport two days prior to the end of contract, I went to Goldcar but it was not possible to just extend the contract. This was because of the pre-paid contract with Rentalcars and a new contract had to be made after the ending of the pre-paid one. I had to go back to the airport two days later again to set up a new contract to receive another car (it was not possible to have the same one). I was lucky that I could arrange this all at the first attendant available resulting in more than 10 people waiting longer to get helped. Apologies!

good value,good service, sat navigation fantastic for international renters
A good value rental and even though the pick up location was a busy airport it all went well. The staff were helpful under difficult conditions (busy).
The return staff excellent and as an international visitor to the USA the Sat navigation made driving around California so much easier . Essential actually
International booking was no problem at all.
Would recommend this company to anyone.

Value for money
Experienced excellent customer service from beginning to end. The hire car was in immaculate condition and I did not experience any problems during the 4 day rental. I will definately use Avis Budget again.

amazingly easy!
We had to book a car at a weeks notice due to a member of the party breaking their leg. There was no problem with the booking and we were given a car from hertz. Picked the car up directly from the airport which was much simpler. Hertz kindly gave us a free upgrade to make it easer with a wheelchair and we were so greatful. The car was clean and easy to use.
The website offered several different options and was very clear on what was included and the options differed slightly depending on what company they used so was good to check several different options. They don't tell you which company your with until you have booked which is fine.
A great help and not the first time I have used them.

Easy pick up, uncomplicated service, great staff.
Easy pick up across from terminal. On line booking made for quick servicing, Jaqui was extremely polite and efficient. Car was brought around to front. Time from counter to get in car was 7 minutes tops. Car felt a bit old, a few dents, but went well. fuel economy of Barina was great. Good car for two people short stay. Overall very happy with service, would recommend to anyone.

Friendly staff on the Hertz counter at Barcelona airport.
Was given a sat nav upon asking but wasn't told the cost so I assumed it was going to be free. Then upon returning the sat nav the next day I was told by another staff that I would be charged for it. This somewhat miffed me!

Easy, simple and no hassle!!
Easy pick up, drive and return...loved the pre paid full indemnity. The only slight quibble was paying for a full tank of petrol and being told to bring it back empty so, being safe, I brought it back 1/4 full- Will know better next time.

Only way to book internationally
Rentalcars made my rental car reservation extremely easy for me. As an older lady travelling alone it is important to have these details made as easy as possible. I experienced no problems and found every step exemplary.

Ideal and perfectly fit for purpose
A little difficult to find the desk as it has since moved from the clear sign posted desk to quite a small kiosk.
That said, once we found where we needed to go, the representative looked after us and escorted us to a waiting people carrier which drove us to the office and compound where our car was waiting. After going through the paperwork, we were on our way.
The return was quite impressive. We parked the car at the same compound and a gentleman came out straight away and dropped us at the departures entrance.

Get the Fiat 500!! You won't regret it!
Drove all around Florence and up to Rome with it! Very spacious and sturdy! Handles well, acceleration is good and speed is good!
As for Sicily by Car, their 24 hour hotline doesn't work. It rings but nobody answers. Just call their office and ask to be transferred to the pertinent department. Got the job done in our case. When dropping off in a different location, ask for the address of the garage not the office, this will save you a lot of time. Because what is printed in their materials is the office location. I hope they put the garage location somewhere in the papers they give to you. As it is troublesome to find a parking in Italy to just inquire about the garage location.

Car very clean. good value.
Plus points - car very clean, new, staff useful and friendly. Downside was that on the rental agreement it didn't say which company the rental was with. Luckily the AVIS guy saw me wondering about Jersey airport and asked my name and it was a rental with AVIS. I also thought that we could have had the car another hour, but maybe I should have pushed for that.

Better value than expected!
Being careful with the money, we had booked only the smallest car available. What we got was a real pleasure: instead of a Citroen C1 or similar, we got a Peugeot 207 and it was clearly a high spec car than we had expected! It handled very well and was very frugal with the amount of diesel we used, consdering that around Nice and Cannes, we were rarely able to use th higher gears because of the traffic.
Because we had used a 'best value' website through which we hired the car, we only learned late on that our booking was with Citer, although the actual paperwork and arrangements were undertaken by Enterprise. We couldn't fault them, and would certainly use them again.

Get there early if a morning pick up.
I found the staff excellent to deal with but be prepared to pay extra insurance if leaving Spain for France (which I hadn't thought about; I was charged approx 60 euros). All in all the hire cost me an extra £133 (This was for the extra insurance, tank of petrol etc., but including VAT) above the price already paid online before setting off. So you need to budget for this if booking the car in the UK prior to departure.
The cars are parked in a multi storey car park and took a little time to find although that could have been down to my inability to see the Gold Car signs. Dropping off was also a little tedious with only small signs indicating the access point (easy to miss [and I did] when watching all the traffic etc.).
Generally though, a good experience and I would use this firm again.

Great service car ready on time immaculate would recommed this service to any one very speedy to drop off not quite so speedy to pick up but who cares we are on holiday the sun is shining and time is are own!!

Quick and easy
Very and quick service from airport and back. Just wish we had booked automatic gear change as that's what we drive at home. Going back to gears seemed retro!

Dilemma solved when we came across Rentalcars online.
Being a non French speaker trying to rent a car in France is a nightmare. Rentalcars took all the angst out of it by arranging everything efficiently and quickly, and most importantly several hundred dollars cheaper than we were being led to believe by agencies we called on. It was as easy as filling in the details online, then waiting for the answer to come back. Only advice I would give anyone thinking of renting in France though, is don't use Charles De Gualle as pick up point. It's a nightmare.

Need more staff
Cars are always dirty you have to wait for them to be cleaned even though they knew days before you were due to collect always have to wait in office not enough staff or in experienced always blameing the computer
I only use this branch as its close to where I live as they now charge £10 for delivery I always go half an hour before pick up time as not to be late picking up

Excellent service.
Pick-up and drop-off was very flexible. The staff provided good, friendly service. Car Proton Persona 1.6litre) was in good condition, clean and problem free. I would hire from Europcar Penang again.

Dollar Rental Car made our tour of California
Booking and pick up using Shuttle Bus in LA easy. Very helpful staff. Car fine and reliable. Extended use at San Francisco as we found it a great way to get around CA, NV and AZ.

Good but pick up/drop off empty!
Completely happy with everything although it was advertised as pickup/drop off with a full tank. I was therefore a little annoyed to find that wasn't the case. So I had to hand it back with petrol in that was a waste of my money.

Watch out for insurance & fuel charges
Long queue at Palma airport, waited over 45 minutes at Goldstar.
By the time we got to desk, they had to upgraded us from KA to Focus, as had run out of cars. They then charged E102 for fuel (full tank, return empty) plus E78 for comprehensive insurance, all plus 2% currency conversion rate to £'s.
Thought I had full cover, but it is only third party/fire/theft.
Not aware of conversion as they only handed over documents after the credit card was charged.
Car was damaged, but they assured us this was covered by the insurance.
Have taken photos of damages just in case.
Be careful on return to Palma Airport on the motorway, as the traffic signs on slip road are hidden, and you will have to make a trip back at next exit.

rental cara good service. eurocar staff shocking!
I recently hired a car, collected from perpignon and drop off in Carcassonne. All went well when I booked via phone. I was informed that I would have too pay an amount for dropping the car at a different location when I picked up the car, that an additional driver could be included or free & I availed of the excess.
When I picked up the car I had a print out from rental cars. I had to battle for an hour with the eurocar girl, she wanted to charge me again for everything. And 200 euro for dropping the car to a different location. Even thought everything was in my printout. We eventually sorted it out but it took over an hour and I had to argue every detail. Her english was not great but I really felt it was better than she pretended (there was anorher woman there who had better English but who didn't help even thought she was free for the last 30 mins) and others may have just paid her for what they had already included in their booking.
Also the map they gave us when leaving was incorrect.

Hidden extras bumped up cost from £76.62 + petrol to £206.56!
The initial quote from rental.com was £76.62 plus of course I expected to pay for petrol. I ended up paying £206.56 including petrol. There are two main reasons
1- the local company required me to take out a very expensive insurance policy (60 euros for 6 days) or pay a deposit of 600 euros (no warning of this from rental.com)
2- the local company had a policy that you had to pay for a full tank of petrol at a higher than average price with no refund for unused petrol. Rental.com did warn that the I would have to pay for a full tank and there would be no refund. The did not tell me what the price was which was quite excessive - 88 euros for a Ford Fiesta.
The pick up point was a bloodbath with every single customer complaining vociferously and thus making the process of picking up very time consuming! Unfortunately it was 10:00 pm and a km or so from the airport so no realistic way out.
