I bought some Karrimor shoes on Sunday from Birmingham , Perry Barr store and after trying them again at home found them too narrow. Tried to return them for a refund 48 hour after purchase and offer only exchange or gift card. They must be obliged to clearly display their returns policy at the point of purchase?? The store Manager moved a pile of bags from the counter to reveal the notice. I checked all the tills on both floors and all were totally covered in merchandise hiding the notices.
I ended up taking the gift card but will give it away as a present as I have no intention of stepping foot inside any Sports Direct Store again. I am also writing to Which/ The Consumer Association as a possible way to warning other about this company and its practices.
Did you know once you have bought an item you cant get a refund only a voucher?
I ordered and paid for a pair of foIotball boots and a pair of skate shoes for my grandson on 30th December 2012. I paid extra delivery of £9.99 for it to be posted to Spain.
Sports Direct sent entirely the wrong shoes inside the correct box. They obviously don't pay attention to detail and did not check the box contents.
The order took 19 days to arrive and when it did, my daughter was charged an extra 33.08 euros of which 2.25 euros was import tax. The additional charge was for carriage that I had already paid.
I contacted Sports Direct by telephone and got a rather bored member of staff named Michelle. She told me to return the incorrect item. I pointed out that I was already out of pocket for postage of almost £50 and she finally agreed ( after a half hour phone call from Spain at my expense) to get the courier to pick them up. She told me to package them up and the courier would let me know, by e-mail when they would collect them.
I did exactly as they asked and followed up by sending a fax with all the information and proof of the additional charges by the courier.
Two weeks later and no word from Sports Direct I Telephoned them again. I sent numerous e-mails and finally got a member of staff at what is laughingly called 'customer service' who said that I had better write in. What did she think all my e-mails were -sanskrit
Can anyone please tell me the difference between an e-mailed letter and a posted letter except that an e-mailed letter is faster.
I wrote over a week ago to Mr Mike Ashley (owner of Sports Direct's) PA - Ms Lauren Rook, with all the complaints. She as yet has not had the courtesy to reply.
Are you all aware that Mr Ashley actaully had the nerve to complain to Trading Standards at the treatment of his company. I wonder is he aware that so many customers of his Internet Shop have hundreds of complaints and don't have the same options. Sports Direct - YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES AND YOUR COMPANY . I am still waiting for collection of my item and a refund, Has anyone got any ideas?

i along with my son bought my grandaughter a pair of trainers size junior 10 white,, when reaching home the trainers in the bag were nike size adult 5 black, At a real inconvenience returned the trainers the following day, The staff on the returns desk couldnt deal with the complaint???? so called the manager,, 20 mins later i am still waiting for the manager, 9.45am and the shop was empty, i had to go look for the manager , i found her doing a stock take with a young fella haveing a laugh and joke,, obviously more important than sortin my problem out, Then they insisted it is not there policy to refund money, even though it was there fault i took the credit note as at that point i had almost lost my temper ,, i think its probably a scam that they do,, chargin £35 for an item that wasnt ours , the item we had purchased was £17;99 now we have a credit note for £35???? never will i buy anything in there again,, the shop was Haringay north london,i tried contacting sports direct to complain but cant get through to them ,, RUBBISH STUFF an cheap nasty staff,, oh an the manageress was pulling faces behind me as i was leavin the store, not realisin that my daughter was watching her!!!
Im 14 went in to sports direct Newry Branch i stood at the till while 3 young staff stood counting money and talking about going out, if it had of been an adult they would have stopped what they were doing but instead they kept ignoring be for 14 minutes until an adult came into the line and then put there stuff to the side, my moneys just as good as anybody elses and I was purchasing £30 worth of stuff and they were pretty rude when i tried to interupt them to purchase my stuff! They only got one score as you have to give them a rating!
They sent the wrong items, I returned them and the they sent the same wrong items again. 3 emails and no reply. Anyone can make a mistake but they don't have any customer service and no way to get in touch to resolve an issue DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. CROOKS!
Wasn't expecting much from sportsdirect after so much bad reviews here. But I was surprised - DHL Economy Shipping, delivery directly to home, 2 pairs of shoes as ordered and plus FREE big cup with sportsdirect logo!
So maybe I'll order more in near future, keep it up!
I went to the St Helens branch and bought a pair of running shoes after being advised by their team. Unfortunately I came out of store with the ones they advised to buy and not the ones I had gone in for :(
They did not have my size for the ones I wanted.
They price was not cheap either!
Decided this morning to take them back and have looked at the receipt and they only exchange or give you a gift voucher.
I went online to see if they had my size in the other shoe that I really wanted and low
and behold the running shoe I had brought home with me is half the price of the shoe instore.
So I will not be shopping in their store again except to try it on and order online!
They couldn't care less when it comes to REFUNDING MONEY PAID FOR DELIVERY CHARGES EVEN IF YOUR ITEMS WERE CANCELLED BY THEM. I mean, SERIOUSLY? What a joke..such a big company and yet they do not take responsibility for their own technical failure. In the first place, they advertised that they had stocks online. Turns out, they did not have them. They still charged for delivery even though they refunded the cost of the items. I have sent 3 emails regarding this matter but they do not bother to respond. Pathetic to say the least.
I ordered to Ireland on 9th of Feb and was surprised that they arrived so quickly. the items I ordered were of great quality brand named goods. The sizes of Lonsdale are a bit dodgy, they were slightly bigger than the norm but that is not Sports Directs problem. I got 6 great items for less than €60 so would order again.
Visiting the store the employees lie about the superior quality ( of the Karrimor shoes which they make more profit on since they are cheap shit (and sports direct is the sole or main supplier of Karrimor )!!!
(as opposed to Nike or other main brands which they make a smaller margin of profit on)
I was looking for a running shoe and saw some Nike shoes on the shelf that look good. I was then informed by the employee that since i was looking for a shoe for running and not style i should buy a Karrimor. The karrimor is much more comfortable and more durable, he said. Following his advice I purchased an ugly karrrimor for £40......
Now i have a shoe that is unattractive and not of particualy good quality.....
I ordered 14 days back and still no sign of my order. I had paid for next day delivery. The yodel puts fake claims of trying delivery and leaving call cards. No response to emails. No help even after talking to them. They claim that they have refunded my next day delivery charges, which is not correct. Still waiting helplessly for their feedback.
Now I can't even track my order as the link is not valid. Will never buy from them. They do not care for the customers.
Wasn't sure what to expect from Sports Direct online based on their customer service in store. I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered online on Saturday afternoon and it was delivered on Monday using standard delivery. The only con is the £3.99 minimum delivery charge is a little steep.
Ordered a squash racket. It came wrapped in odd bits of plastic, with no protection or bag, just a broken mug stuck at one end. The whole thing looked like it had been driven over. They do not have a phone number for good reason. And do not answer e mails- for good reason. The shop is cheap as you can look over the article first but do not use the online option. Pay a bit more for a good trust worthy firm. You have been warned.
Ordered a jacket which arrived ripped and leaking its feather lining. Sent it back and got a refund but wasn't happy about having to pay the costs of returning the item. Have written numerous emails to customer services (there is no phone number) to ask about them refunding these costs but had absolutely no reply. After looking into this, it seems it is common practice for this company to simply ignore customer enquiries of this nature. I have been left out of pocket through no fault of my own and will never use this company again.
After shopping for winter thermals and some new sports gear for a new season of lacrosse i was really pleased with the cheap prices and savings i had made compared to buying the same products at a different retailer. Chose next day delivery, but bearing in mind this was at 2am in the morning i didnt think it would be until two days time at the most.
.........Three weeks later still nothing. Despite 3 emails i had no reply about my products or what had happened to my order. By this point i was annoyed and frustrated so sent an email demanding refund for my delivery price. still no reply but a notification from my bank to tell me i had been refunded for my full order instead,
Would definitely NOT ADVISE BUYING FROM SPORTS DIRECT.
I first noticed the cheap prices on the sports direct website and thought great but as a cautious person I wanted to see if there were any reviews on google. Clearly as with here the review were extremely negative so I cut down my order to £20 and bought it on my credit card to make sure I had protection. I really wanted a set of tshirts that were no longer stocked anywhere else so I bought it. It arrived the next day! I was so impressed I put in another order for £40. That arrived the next day. Impressive.
- I ordered to work so I had no problems with delivery
- my order only contained tshirts and ski socks which is why the delivery company may not have stolen it
- my last order had a small rip in the back. Did they take a peek inside and realise there was nothing of value!
Very dodgy company but I came out ok. Impresssed actualy
My order arrived with 2 items missing. I have now emailed them three times, they are ignoring me. Could not get a number for them, until I found one on here. Also my sons order took 4 weeks to arrive, emails were ignored then too. I will never shop with them again.
I ordered four items from Sports Direct online..paid for the standard delivery..then today I get an email and a text from yodel the courier company they use saying my parcel would be here before 9pm..I thought great..so yodel delivery guy comes to my door with my package..I looked at it and it had been opened and two of my items were missing..a pair of trainers and a pair of jogging bottoms..said to the delivery guy..why is it open?..he said that's the way it came..I said well am not signing for it coz my stuff is missing..and away he went without a care in the world..so have emailed sports direct asking for a full refund or send my stuff again..will wait and see what happens..but am not gong to sit back and be made a fool of..AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST IF THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO USE YODEL AS THEIR COURIER AS THEY ARE THIEVES!!!!!.
Ordered some items more than a week ago, and reached the target price that allows free delivery. However their free delivery is organised by a courier company that make "fake" delivery attempts to the wrong address.
Now I'll spend the weekend without the gear I spent money for!!!
They are terrible!
hello sportsdirect, so long sportsdirect
Have ordered a hell of a lot off this company lately, the only time I felt short changed
was when I recieved a pair of Kangol shoes and they had a lace feature of the shoe missing.
Only last week I had to return a Hardcore hoodie which came too tight in that brand.
You have to pay the cost of sending stuff back so the large heavy duty envelope cost
£1.10p and the postage was £3.65p, but much to my delight exactly one week later my hoodie came back to me in the requested size and fitted well.
My experience with this company has been just short of excellent and I definitely would'nt put others off.
Was ordering form their website and only took a few minutes since I knew what I already wanted, however within that time 2 of the products in my basket became out of stock when I came to pay. However 1 product had other colours so it wasn't such a let down. When I had paid, a few days later they emailed to say 1 of my products was out of stock so they refunded me the money for the product. When I received the items, one item had a zip which didn't even zip, not so much sportsdirects problem since they don't make the product. After sending the item back and saying that I would like a replacement, they inspected the item and refunded me the money, even though I wrote in big bold letters on the return sheet saying i want a replacement. I have just been on their website and the product I sent back is still in stock in the same size and colour! They haven't even refunded the postage cost for returning the item like they say they would in their terms and conditions! I did receive a sportsdirect mug though, since my products had been out of stock, not that you cant buy them for 99p off ebay!
Cope of letter sent to customer service over a month ago, no response.
I have just been into your Isleworth shop. I haven't used this store for a long time due to the shocking customer service I received. On that occasion I bought a pair of running shoes to be told that if I have second thoughts I could return them. I did have second thoughts and tried to return them only to be told that you don't offer refunds only credit notes. When asking to speak to a manager the member of staff held up a walkie-talkie which the 'manager' barked the 'we only offer credit notes'. I was astounded. The was no signs saying this and STILL isn't. I then tried to use the credit note only to be told there we're no..... wait for it...... unusual size?? 14? 15? NO! There were no size uk 10 running shoes in stock! None! So I was left with a credit note for £100 and unable to use it. I ended up giving it away.
That was about 18 months ago. I thought I would try you again as you are the only Asics stockist in my area. I actually found a pair of New Balance, £30 the ticket said, sold! I take them to the counter to be told they are £35. When I said to the store clerk the price was wrong the reply was 'Yea bruv, the tickets wrong' when I tell him he just put the ticket on the shoe he replied 'yea so? What do you want be to do about it bruv?', I aksed if all the tickets were wrong and he replied 'yea, probably. What you gonna do about it?' shrugged his shoulders and walked off. When I asked for a manager, there wasn't one available and when I asked for their name the member of staff said they couldn't tell me.
I run a number of high street shops and if a member of my staff had talked to a customer in that manner they would have been fired, on the spot. I am not asking or even expecting this member or any others to be spoken to, I dont have the faith in the managers ability. This is not a isolate incident as far as I can gather. When recalling this to a group of mates, to a person they had had similar experiences. 8 people!
I can now say with confidence, I will never be using your shops again.
Another story of a customer stolen from by this company.
Another package sent by Yodel, marked as 'delivered' on their system yet no sign of it. - I asked Yodel where my package was, they said they left it 'behind a pot', I don't own any pots, neither do any of my neighbours.
Called SportsDirect, after 40 mins waiting they told me they'd investigate and get back to me, they didn't.
Still waiting for a refund I know I will not receive. Definitely need to speak to watchdog/ombudsmen because this is nothing short of blatant theft and time wasting.
Really wont be using them again unless they give an option to use Royal Mail instead of Yodel,, paid for next day delivery and its now 3 days late, if it hadn't been important I wouldn't have paid the extra for special delivery, and of course trying to find a number to phone or at least an email address to complain to is impossible, it's this sort of thing that's going to put people off online shopping.
Avoid avoid avoid. I suggest you only order from this company if you don't want your order.
I made an order online on the 11/12/2012 and i tracked my order on the yodel website and they claim it was delivered on the 14/12/2012 to my neighbor. The signature strip just has a first name n a doggy signature. I've been trying to get my money back ever since.
This company and the courier company are just RUBBISH. Customer service??? What customer service.
I just tried to contact them and whist talking to the agent I was hung up on. Defiantly a WATCHDOG complaint.
I bought a pair of trainers from Sports Direct in June 2012. When I put them on they smelled bad. So i took them back and was refused a refund.
So I complained over and over to customer service, 7 months later I have got nothing, no refund no gift card. They have had my money and I am very angry. Do not buy anything from them. They rip people off. It is time they were put out of business.
I Bought two kangol jackets and zips broke on both jackets and on pocket and a hoody that went all bobbly after it had only been worn once.So won't be back as I've bought other stuff that has been faulty, stuff looks good but very poor quility .
this should tell the whole story ....
Dear Sports Direct
I just need to let you know about a bike I have purchased off you . The bike was ordered off you on the 29th of the 12th 2012. Paid for o be delivered on the Saturday. By Monday tee bike had not arrived. I called customer services who told me it hadn’t been sent and that they could refund the £6.00 charge for extra delivery. That was great . although the yodel tracker has said it will be delivered at it was already at the reading depot so I took a day off work to wait for this to arrive at this point I am minus 45 pound for a day’s work. On Monday when I was told the parcel would arrive I took another day off work . however the bike did arrive at this point despite yodel telling me that it won’t arrive until Wednesday and sports direct saying it would be on that day. So Bike arrives Monday. Lost another days wages but won’t include this as I am happy bike has arrived.
The box that the bike comes in is damp and damaged however not to the level where it may cause damage to the bike . I put the bike together to find the rear dralier has been bent and snapped causing the bottom of the frame to dig into the cogs on the wheel. Not what I expected from a brand new bike. So I have called sports direct to be put on hold for 20 mins or so. Understandable that your busy at Christmas so no problem there. After speaking to a nice girl who deals with all the warranty claims I am told to have the bike fixed I would have to send the bike back to you to assess the damage before you decide if I can get a refund or a replacement at my expense. Or I can get the parts sent out to me and I can do the work myself.
After waiting for the parts and having to hire a bike from my local shop I am now minus 229.00. including the cost of the bike .. the hire of a bike while I am waiting for the parts that have never arrived and a day’s wages. So I have had to take the bike to a shop to be fixed where the parts and labor have cost me just under £60.00 pound to have it fixed . also whilst being told that the people in the shop believe that the bike is very soft metal on the working parts and any small knock may get the same breakage again.
So I have lost a day’s wages … £45.00 £60.00 for the bike to be fixed before its even been used and £50.00 to hire a bike while I am waiting for my brand new bike to be replaced. That £160.00 pound . more than the cost of the bike itself.
So I believe I have been fair and credit where credit is due your staff that I did get to speak to were very helpful and sympathetic to my situation. Yodel were not helpful at all and I believe that you as a supplier should choose somebody else to do this work for you as they just make you look terrible.
I believe the whole experience has just left me out of pocket and with a bike that I can’t trust and so will need to replace. What are you going to do about this ?
I work as a yacht broker and run a chandlery in Buckinghamshire . a small family business where we try our best to make every customer happy and deal with things as best we can in the situation. All I ask is that you try and do the same.
A response would be great…
I bought a new pair of trainers from SD a couple of weeks ago, I took them back yesterday to change them. I came across the manager (I think he was the manager on the floor). Anyway I asked him a couple of questions about style & comfort and before I knew it I was being looked after by no less than two of them, the floor manager & his assistant, who went out their way to accommodate my footwear needs. By the time I had left I had tried on at least 12 pairs of trainers.(I was encouraged to make sure the trainer I ended up buying was perfect for my feet)...even though I had already bought & they already had my money, they were so incredibly informative & helpful.
I left some 40min later with my choice of trainer & I know a hell alot more about insoles, low&high arches, gel support, cushioning. The crash course in trainers, I received in SD by this guy, means never again will I enter a sports shop & be spun a yarn by illinformed, money hungry assistants. So I would just like to say a million thanks to these guys. I didn't get the boys names - but as I said I think one of them was the floor manager & his smaller, slimmer, younger assistant were both excellent. Thanks guys.
As an NHS nurse I am required to wear an all black shoe for work. I bought a pair of what seemed like quality footwear from Sports Direct about 4 months ago. Within two months they were worn down at the inside heel area and had completely split accross the sole - which was quite obvious since I have to shower a lot of patients! On my birthday Dec 10th I was bought a new pair, a different brand, more expensive ...again from Sports Direct. Today I walked to the pharmacy in the sludge and noticed I had wet feet when I got there. I took the shoes off, and guess what? SPLIT right across the sole yet again. These have lasted LESS THAN ONE MONTH!!!! These were a gift and therefore I have no receipt for them and no-one at the store is in the slightest bit interested. I will NEVER buy from this dump again. CRAP product from a CRAP company. As an NHS nurse my footwear is essential for comfort and professional appearance. Unfortunately, Sports Direct do not know the meaning of the word professional.
January 11th and I have just bought 2 pairs of adidas Kanadia 5 Ladies Trail Running Shoes at a good price.
5 min later a received a email saying one of these items would not be available till March!!
I did not read the stock info so I went back online to cancel my order and found out that you cannot not contact them via phone and
if attempting to email them asking to cancel your order, you have to click on a subject drop down box, the only one that applies is "Can I make changes to my order",
so you click on this and it then takes away the option of sending your email and states that there is no way of cancelling your order and you have to wait until
your order has been delivered and then you have to send it back to them. I will have to wait 3 months and then pay to send them back because they do not do free returns, "What Online company does business like this, there is no point in buying any product from this store if you make a mistake you cannot rectify it !!!!" UTTER CRAP
The top I got was good quality and there are no signs it is a second or B grade stock, not one of their own brands either. The shoes on the other hand are obvious seconds as the soles are manufactured all over the place making one foot feel as if there is a lump under it while walking.
I only tried them on properly after 2 weeks and phoned them to complain, they gave me a free post address to return them to and they didn't even need the original box which had been recycled.
Some bad products but overall a good service on returns.
The 1 pint mugs they send you are amazing though, wouldn't be without one from now on!
SportsDirect were a decent company once upon a time but never again is the feeling right now.
I ordered 3 Items on the 10th of December which were posted quick enough by SportsDirect, the problem is they use that fraud company Yodel to do their deliveries. Whilst I was personally home for to collect any parcels at all times in the run up to Christmas - Yodel somehow claimed they had visited my house and got no answer so left a card on the 12th Dec, only to redeliver it on the 14th and have it signed for by somebody called "Haleya" which bares absolutely no resemblance to my name. After contacting Yodel they gave me the run around until I was publicly complaining on social networking sites about them stealing my parcel. They then made an effort to contact me telling me they could not find it and that SportsDirect would have to deal with it. Well, over the Christmas period and once again today I have contacted SportsDirect countless of times and I have received not a single response from them. Absolutely pathetic. I should be considering legal action right now as I have been robbed of my money.
