I cannot rate Squarespace highly enough. I am new to web building and the thought of making my own website was daunting. I need not have worried! The templates are easy to use and have fresh innovative designs and clear guidance.
The best though is the customer service. Personal, friendly and helpful. Speedy replies, even though I'm in the UK. There are so many tutorials to talk you through and helpful hints.
I had accidentally paid for subscription for the website I didn't intend to. I submitted a ticket and within an hour I had received a response, detailed explanation, and a refund. Instead of transferring the subscription that I paid for(and guaranteeing that they kept the sale) I received a full refund with which I could have switched services if I wanted to go elsewhere. I was able to easily fix the problem with the detailed explanation the customer service rep provided me and signed up for the correct subscription. All communication was extremely swift and cordial and I feel confident that I can quickly get support on any problem in the future. I would highly recommend squarespace to anyone!
This is actually my second review of this company. My first review was horrible because they were having issues that weren't being fixed which was affecting my ability to build my website. However, they managed to get their issue fixed within 3 days and since then, it has been heaven working with Squarespace. The staff is friendly and ready to help me with the help that I need. My website turned out GREAT and it keeps getting better due to their patience with me and their help. Whenever I need help, I do a live chat and they are right there. At times, they are unavailable or they have a long wait time for chat which is okay because I can still work on other things while I'm waiting. If I need to submit a ticket, they answer within 1 hour. I love the templates. Although they don't have many, the ones they do have are high end. You won't find them with other site providers. I have been with a few website providers and I love Squarespace the best...now! Yes, we have had our issues in the beginning but I really like them now to the point where I signed up for a paid account. Out of all of the website providers I have been with (and I've been around the block) Squarespace is the best by far!
I started with Squarespace and thought they were awesome. The templates were great looking and the support staff was patient with my newbie questions. Then I actually started my business and had to sell products out of my store. I'm a wedding and portrait photographer, so clients buy large quantities of products at once, especially when dealing with a wedding. For two weeks I went back and forth with the customer support with a problem my client and I had. They kept asking the same questions over and over again to no avail. I kept getting passed around from person to person so I always had to re-explain the problem I was having. Twice I was bumped out of queue and had to re-email the support team telling them that I never received an answer. I was told that my problem would be given to the developers of Squarespace and that they were the ones I would be talking to. Well that never happened. To this day, Squarespace cannot figure out what is wrong. I am currently trying to find out how to move to a different website builder and how I can get my money back. I paid a good amount just to have the e-commerce option and in the end Squarespace was costing me money with clients as well. It's just been a terrible experience.
Why spend the money when you can get a beautiful theme from wordpress or tumblr for free. Squarespace is not even user friendly, I'm an expert developer and designer and I can't even figure out where to go.
I'm a Graphic Designer, but my knowledge of HTML/CSS is limited and not in depth enough to make good looking website, much less make it anywhere near mobile friendly. I tried doing it and was left with an ugly website that was a pain to ever update. I tried dabbling with wordpress and was lost in confusion yet again. I heard of squarespace on spotify and a coleague suggested I try it for myself... I downloaded the trial and started building... Squarespace is SO EASY. Very intuitive; if you know how to file folders on your desktop, you will know how to use this program. I have gotten lots of compliments on my new website and am looking much better to prospective employers (got 2 sidework inquiries and confirmed two interviews since launching my website 2 days ago) Highly recommend this to professionals who are less than savvy when it comes to web design. Cheers.
I am not sure what happened but my website hit the dust this year after three years of working well. I do not update much and rely on local sales and fairs. The website is a place we can post events and new items. When Squarespace updated their image, it appeared they sacrificed ours. I have emailed and talked to several people that have assured me all will be well. It is...for a short time. Our images keep mysteriously disappearing. In a wearable art business, that is the kiss of death. Looking to relocate our site. Wish we could stay for when it works its great. I do not have the time to keep monitoring our site. Not happy one bit.
I have a page for each of my clients and each page took about 45 minutes to create. I ask Squarespace to put in a Duplicate page function to cut that time down to 5 minutes. They added this feature and I couldn't be happier
Squarespace has just deleted my entire website, without sending me an email or notification... This is very serious because it was my company website. I have contacted support and they still not aswered me.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! And not professional at all... I'm still waiting for my refund.
I was hooked on Squarespace the moment I started playing around with my free trial- largely because of the amazing design, but also because of the awesome support team. I've been a big Wordpress user for the last few years but I was pretty much instantly converted!
The template designs are sleek and beautiful and just right for anyone who wants to quickly create a site that looks 'current'. You'll find templates that remind you of many of your favourite companies or bloggers, or even stores, sites- not as easy feat! There are no clunky designs here- everything is super customisable- and it's SO easy! The idea that you can take Squarespace and create a site in 10 minutes that looks contemporary (design-wise), clean, and engaging- isn't a myth. With a little knowledge of how the blocks and features work (watch the video tutorials; they cover everything) you could literally create a site in under half an hour. Maybe an hour? It's pretty revolutionary stuff!
Squarespace is fun and easy to use/design/build- and even when you're confused, you can get instant assistance from the amazing team- who are by far the friendliest support team I have come across. Trying to get help online can be very frustrating at times, even with large teams, because responses are slow and often not that friendly. This is *not* the case at all with Squarespace- and it makes such a difference to how confident you feel using their platform; I've received personalised and friendly help within 15/20 minutes of seeking it- even though I live in a totally different time zone (I'm in the Middle East). So impressive!
I would definitely recommend Squarespace to anyone who wants to create a beautiful and functionally diverse website, whether they've had a lot of experience designing sites or none at all- it's a great new platform and I only wish I'd discovered it sooner :)
My blog entry duplicates in other pages. Image/text of copy are all over other pages and if i try to delete them, blog will be deleted! it's so frustrating!!!!!! Also the images on blog page gets cropped unexpectedly, it's too hard to make it to the right size. I guess we can't expect much for the price. Ugh.
Squarespace are for me one of the new generations of companies which will eventually replace the likes of Microsoft and all these other unfriendly and inaccessible corporations that take a month to reply to a customer email.
I tried a number of on line web creation sites, and I found this one to be by far the best.
It's really enabled me to get up and running with a highly professional looking web in no time at all, customised to my needs. Everything looks great and works instantly without hassle.
And if there IS anything I don't understand, their customer service is setting the bar, you really can expect 24 hours a day a reply within the hour, which is friendly and ultra helpful, and from a real human being who understands how to behave.
Absolutely Excellent and I am sure it will only get better.
Not meaning to be self promotional, but I put this together in less that a week (including gather all the work together) *not yet finished. www.paulrichardmatthews.com
I used Squarespace for a photography portfolio. It was simple to get started and the site was easy to use for the most part.
I ran into a few problems when trying to get photos lined up in columns -- it wasn't clear the best way to do it. Photos would resize weird and take up more space than they should have. I eventually figured out that if I remove them and add them back they behave better.
I love that I don't need to know fancy HTML or CSS or whatever to build a professional looking site.
I am a digital artist, but in no way a web designer. SquareSpace is perfect for me because I can balance customization with templates. Also they have the most down to earth friendly personal, responsive customer service, I've ever experienced. They are flat out the best all in one solution for making a professional website, hosting it with rock solid reliability and using your own custom domain. Simply the best. I wish I could buy stock in this company.
2 main issues : FORMS - For one form, the only way I don't get an error message is if I ONLY select the email storage (which actually doesn't work, I just get the Squarespce notif, nothing else). If I just put Mailchimp, it gives an error message.
TEXT EDITOR Randomly your text / photos will be copied on ALL your pages, or just some, or worse, disappear..
Really hope they fix these as they're way above the rest on all counts but they also have major bugs the "simpler" ones don't have, and can be critical for your biz.
My latest message of 20 to CC: I simply had to do the page again. I totally got the Mailchimp thing.. it works perfect on THEIR end. As for the editor, I can assure you it has LOADS of issues, on all browsers. Main one is I found out the only way to minimize duplicates on all pages is to leave the page and click "Save". If I do it with the bottom menu, it duplicates whatever i created on random pages. THAT is really annoying. For Now it just creates texts fields. One of your guys replicated that. Honestly I don't care about compensation but rather that you solved those issues. I did loose 4 pages, after saving them.. but I'm not going to beg for $40 or whatever. I'd just love it to be more reliable :)
I love Squarespace. The customer service alone is worth any of the hosting prices. I had an issue with IE10 for a couple of days and Squarespace customer service replied quickly and went above and beyond in trying to help resolve the problem, even though everything worked on their end. Ultimately, my client's computer was the issue and we got it resolved. I've been using Squarespace for about 6 years now and have always been thrilled with their website services and support.
I just want to say that, as a fellow design manager and designer, I simply *adore* SquareSpace. What's so great? It's website, company, services, user interface, easy to understand explanations for everything, outstanding design and branding, thorough help and support, efficient response times, quality of care, phenomenal quality of templates, ease of use, affordable plans — and the list goes on. I am just completely blown away and so happy I chose to use you to create my personal website! Kudos to you all, what a great company. I can only see a bright future for this company - who is in the know and knows good design practice. I trust anything this company is affiliated with and recommends. Don't know about SquareSpace? Get with it! Like Pinterest, it will transform your life... for the better.
I'd never heard of Squarespace until my designer suggested it for my blog. Though I'm a tech neophyte, I've been able to set up, design and create my site - which looks FABULOUS - with the constant, prompt, extremely helpful and crazy polite 24/7 customer service.
I can't emphasize enough what a great experience working with Squarespace 6 has been. This is my design guy's first time with it as well and he's sooo impressed. Everything is so easy and so logical and if I don't get it, I just ask. I receive, in usually a matter of minutes, very clear, easy to follow instructions with screen shots! I love it!
I already tell anyone and everyone about how great Squarespace is. I don't know why no one's heard of it or why anyone still uses anything else. I have another site on Wordpress that I have to update and frankly, I'm dreading it. I may have to bite the bullet and move the whole shebang over to Squarespace.
What else can I tell you? Based on my own experience, I would recommend without reservation using Squarespace for your next project. They have seriously been a pleasure to work with.
Squarespace is one of those rare services where you actually get everything you think you're going to get, then it just gives you more, there's no betraying small print or false advertising. (which is honestly, if not rather depressingly, a refreshing and welcome change) The customer support is the main reason I felt compelled to write a review though, I had a bit of confusion with one of the features so sent them a quick e-mal and within minutes I had a completely hand written and personal response which resolved my issue, it was fantastic.
I can't recommend them enough, beautiful, professional service with a tonne of creative options to work with and a staff of genuinely helpful and charming people.
