Excellent service, advice, and support.
I am taking a 12-24 month assignment in LA and needed to buy a futon. Chris was extremely helpful and polite in helping me select a good quality, reasonably price futon, mattress, and mattress cover.

YES THE PHONE ORDER DID SEEM FINE! BUT WHEN I RECEIVED THE COVER SHE HELPED ME WITH, IT WAS NOTHING LIKE I EXPECTED.
I specifically told Susan I never ordered a Futon before that is why I was ordering a set.
My appreciation for her help in choosing a cover was mistaken, I asked for a light one and like the one I saw in their advertisement. She obviously wasn't as knowledgeable as I thought for now that I went in to see what the error was, the one she helped me with was very dark and not the one in their ad.
So here we are with the wrong cover and at first they wanted to charge a restocking charge! Than the fellow who answered spoke with someone and they said they will just switch to which ever I wanted, but the transport fee BOTH WAYS would have to be charged to us! Susan was asked if she could help with the return fee and she said," No"! If I were the only one responsible for this error I wouldn't mind!
It would have been fair if we only had to pay the fee one way!
SO you see It is a must to cancel my 5 STAR rating! Thank You for your time and effort to delete my rating! Susan was very anxious for me to rate them right away. Now I know WHY!!!

Organic futon started emitting strong rubber smell after 3 years
I bought the queen size firm organic latex wool/cotton futon 3 years ago. I'd like to report that the firmness has held up well, and the futon continues to be extremely comfortable. However, this year it has started emitting a strong burnt rubber smell. It gets worse when the warmth of my body at night warms up the futon, and the smell even wakes me up coughing and irritates my chest. I didn't notice this smell before now. I understand that latex foam can have a rubber smell, but it's bizarre that the futon was not emitting any odor until 3 years later, which makes me think there's a problem with the stability of your latex foam. Maybe The Futon Shop should contact the manufacturer and see what's up. It makes me sad, because I was so glad to have an organic futon, and it's otherwise very comfortable. I guess I won't be getting latex or any foam any more.

Great Store!
Paul went out of his way to help up, even coming in on his day off. KC was very kind to help, too. I really like the sustainable frame and fabric materials they offer, in good selections. We are awaiting delivery and eager to start using our beautiful, new futons!

They have great quality products and they don't try and sell you something you don't need or want. We purchased a great looking futon and cannot wait to enjoy it in our studio!.. Thanks for the help!

Excellent service and incredible one on one help.
My boyfriend's mother and I came in at around 7:30 (half hour before closing time) to check out the wares. She is staying with my boyfriend and I and wanted to buy us a house warming gift so we asked her for a fouton that we could use as a couch most of the time and that way she would have somewhere to sleep while she was visiting. The man, Paul, who helped us was immediately helpful even though it was near closing time and he gave us his undivided attention for as long as it took for us to shop. He gave us all the information we needed to get the best combo of items for the best price and threw in free pillows for completing this review. We ended up buying a beautiful lamp as well. The prices were fair and he explained everything to us so we never felt like were being "sold to". It was a great experience and I would definitely reccomend it to people.

Great idea!
I have been struggling with adding sleeping possibilities to my new art studio. I looked at beds, daybeds, sofa sleepers and even chair sleepers. The futons you offer afford the opportunity to sit comfortably without sacrificing most of my available space to the non-usable armament of a sleeper chair or sofa. I am very happy with the easy setup so I can flop when the painting isn't going as I would like or visitors can settle in without a huge fuss. My salesperson was pleasant and competent and there were plenty of workable options to choose from. All in all, a very good experience.

Staff person Paul was helpful and patient with us.
The store was well layed out and our 2 grandkids loved checking out all the chairs and beds, especially the beanbags! Paul was very knowledgeable about all the furniture. He showed us a lot of different styles and options to meet our needs.
I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for futons, sofas, beds, chairs, etc. A great buying experience.

Great Furniture and Mattresses.
Just bought a futon today at The Futon Shop in Sacramento. Great service, great futon, and wonderful mattresses. I've got 3 beds with the organic spring mattresses and love them. The futon will be for guests in the living room, and for guests to sleep on. Would highly recommend their furniture and mattresses.

Best Futon Shop around!
I bought a fouton 15 years ago from here. Still in excellent working condition. I get many compliments from people and ALWAYS asked where I got it. Just bought another futon cover for it, nothing wrong with the old one from 15 years ago, just wanted a change. The staff are very nice and helpful.

Great service, great product, great price
Futons are not what they used to be! I just bought a loveseat that opens into a double bed. It's perfect for our office/guest room. Plus it is so comfortable! The mattress is thick and cushy. The Futon Shop has lots of styles, fabrics, and mattress options for all price range. The sales person was very patient and straightforward. He explained the pros and cons of all the different types of frames and mattresses until I found the perfect one for my needs. I can't wait to have house guests so they can try it out!

Excellent Service
Stopped by the Futon Shop on Arden to buy a replacement cover for my futon. The store was clean and well organizd. The sales person was extremely helpful and went out of his way to show me all of the options available to me. Definitely will shop there again.

Could not have had a more perfect experience!
The Futon Shop was the embodiment of everything I was looking for; a company who takes an intelligent, responsible, organic approach to what they are doing, and offers a broad enough selection that they can be affordable too.
I recently moved to the area and was in desperate need of a bed of my own, and thanks to The Futon Shop's selection and affordability, I didn't have to compromise on anything to get what I needed.
Scott was informative and intelligent, tailoring what The Futon Shop offers to fit what I needed and could afford, he was also paitent as I sat or laid on nearly everything in the store. A true gentleman. I highly reccomend anyone looking for a futon to check them out, everything was perfect!

The Futon Shop is the ONLY store I trust...
...I am on my fourth futon, having lived all over the world and bought (and left) the previous three with friends/neighbors once I moved out and on.
The Futon Shop offers the highest quality, the most value for my money and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Jen was swamped today and not only did she handle herself with grace and aplomb, she made it easy for me to get what I needed in the 20 or so minutes I had until the shop closed.
I CANNOT WAIT to sleep in my new bed, with the memory foam and organic materials.....JEN you rock! The Futon Shop rules!

Easy as pie
I drove this Sunday out to the West LA store and was able to get exactly what I needed for the right price. Jen was great helping me figure out what were the best options for my needs and within my budget. Bought a futon for a day bed and a queen futon for my bed. All at a great price, since they were having a 20% discount. I'm looking forward to my delivery next week!

I was happy with the salesperson but disappointed that you don't have the "old" wooden futon frames.
I came to the Futon Shop to find a less expensive alternative to a sofa bed. Actually, I found only sofas and mattresses that cost as much or more than a sofa bed.
What I really wanted was a futon with the old pine frame that makes into a sofa low to the floor. Inexpensive and practical. Because you did not have that, I bought the fold-up 5" foam futon without a frame. The other options would work for some but not for me.

We love our new couch!
Karin & Suzy were very helpful and took time to help us choose the best mattress, frame, cover (and even the free pillows) that best suited our needs. Everything was delivered on time, and the frame was not difficult to assemble. Now we have a roomy, cushy futon couch- it was worth spending our tax refund dollars on!

In my opinion the shop was very nice and clean. The manager helped us very much and was very kind and peaceful. Paul found us the perfect futon and worked with us ALOT. I now have no regrets about going out and finding the futon shop!!!!! I am now very happy with my futon!!!!!!

This was my first time at The Futon Shop in the West LA Store. It was easy to get to and parking in the back was a plus. I was greeted by a friendly face and felt very welcoming. I purchased my very first futon and I love it. I would definite go back.

great,accountable customer service and organic products
i am a stickler for organic products, especially mattresses, since we spend so much time on them.i ordered a king mattress a few years ago and was very pleased with the product. there were a few small nicks in the mattress (probably due to the cross country shipping) and the futon shop promptly sent me a free organic mattress cover, which solved the issue. i have now ordered two crib mattresses, and plan to order a few more items. it is good to know that their customer service team is very responsive.

I am happy with my purchase of a futon cover. It's a beautiful color, the right size, made of durable fabric. The salesperson's instructions as to care of the product were useful, and I was made to feel a valued customer. If I have a future futon need, I will return to this store. Access is easy on Cesar Chavez East.

Good and Forthright Service
Yesterday, March 39, 2013 we bought a futon from the Futon Shop on Arden Way in Sacramento, California. Even though the store was somewhat difficult to find, in that it is not exactly on Arden Way, it was worth searching for and finding.
The gentleman who waited on us, named Casey, told us about the features of each mattress, and which of these would be best for the type of futon frame we already own. We were considering the more expensive one, but Casey let us know that the mattress we eventually purchased would be better for our metal frame. How refreshing, that a salesperson did not try to encourage us to buy the more expensive product !
We also wanted to "buy American." The futons at this store are made in San Francisco from components grown in the U.S.A.. , leaving a smaller environmental footprint.
We recommend that you try the Futon Shop for great service and environmentally friendly products.

Smelly Woollen Mattress & Terrible Service
We bought a woollen mattres in the third week of February. The sales rep- Matthew did not tell us that the wool in these mattresses smells a lot. We found out when we took it home. We aired it for four weeks and the odor was awful, and the entire room was filled with the odor (even when the windows were left open). Finally, after multiple calls and discussions with Mark/Scott, they took it back but not before we paid another $25 for shipping. Since then no one has tried having a honest discussion with us about the odor in their woollen mattresses, and we were invited to pick up the replacement. We went today, and it smells awful. The sales rep- Matthew decided to taunt us with caustic remarks, and told us there will be absolutely no refunds but we can call a 800 number to try our luck. This is an extremely ridiculous and unnecessary situation as we were previously considering buying more things from this store. It is a shame that this store that claims a forward looking product line should indulge in such unacceptable way of dealing with their customers.

Owner and staff are very nice and knowledgeable people who will go above and beyond to make you happy!
I bought a futon here a few months ago and was looking to add some stuff to it and I had a whole lot of questions. Everytime I came in I felt welcomed and they were very understanding and wanted me to be happy. Carol the owner gave me a free pillow and a big discount on a mattress pad! The lady at the front desk is very nice and they carry all organic products! Will definantly recommend them!

Watch out!!!
Be very careful when you purchase anything from this store online. They charge 20% restocking fee and offer store-credit good only for 6 months for something as small as a futon cover! This policy was "hidden" in the link that never opened.
