More Failures. Since owning our caravan for four years we've had to replace the high power water pump, the hosepipe, the O rings and the Intelligent Controller twice.
The new water pump also failed because the end that fixes to the socket part had not been secured properly. To their credit Whale did fix this under warranty and it's been good since.
This is the third Intelligent Controller which, for an eight year old van is too many.
The hosepipe that came with the van simply burst the first time I tried a full service pitch. The brand new replacement hose did exactly the same thing, but I was able to get my money back for that. A fellow caravanner had exactly the same trouble with his Whale hose last week. They're simply not up to the job.
Whale need to do something drastic to improve the quality of their products, or their quality control, but probably both! These components work well normally but they should not be failing at the rate they are.

Diagnosed my problem and sent me instructions to resolve it. Wife can have a shower now - happy wife happy life 👏👏👏

Very disappointed-Warranty not honoured
Whale pumps was installed in my shower, and after only 13 months it stopped working. As a result, our bathroom floods and we cannot use the shower at all.
According to the paperwork provided, the pump has a 5 years warranty. However, Mr Morrow from the head office has avoided responsibility and is denying the warranty

Nothing but problems with the water heater , error code after error code and then the space heater, exactly the same. Ripped the space heater out and replaced with a diesel heater. Looking at a water heating system now.
Don’t waste your time or money with Whale !

I've just been given the best technical help and customer service by Gavin Moore from Whale Pumps (Navico Group).

I'd brought my caravan out of storage for it's next outing, only to find that the main control unit wasn't working. Consequently I had no heating, hot water or running water, so my holiday was in jeopardy.

I contacted Gavin via the technical support number (+44 (0)3459090911). He listened to me explaining what I'd already done to try and diagnose the fault, then he suggested other actions to definitively prove the fault. After performing the checks he suggested I was lucky enough to speak to Gavin again. He quickly managed to send me a replacement unit, it arrived the next morning.

After fitting the part, everything worked once again.

Holiday saved!!!!!!

Less than two years old motorhome the heating and hot water systems have failed. Tried talking to Whale but not very impressed. It’s with the dealer for repair who have advised at least a two week turnaround. Why Auto-Trail fit such an unreliable untrustworthy system is a mystery. When the time for a motorhome replacement comes I will make sure I don’t buy anything with a Whale system.

bought a FW 1215 B
2 years and 3 month ago. It has run for less than 2 hours in that period. Salt water pump i sailboat for pantry.

Now it has melted and almost court on fire on my boat. It has a design fault. It was mounted with a 7,5 A fuse and still it got hot and melted. The wires were not hot during the meltdown. The pump was more than 100 degrees C cause it started to cook the water in the pump. It was the “sound” of cooking water and the smell of burnt plastic that made me discover the meltdown. Luckily I was on the boat when it happened. The pump was not used 24 hours before the accident. It was ON with pressure on the water tap.

The meltdown took place over several hours- before it got so hot that it started to make a noice. Before that, it was a rising smell that was noticed.

Maybe it would be the right choice to recall all of those pumps, before a boat goes on fire and lives gets lost!

Whale contacted me and askes for more information, I ripped the pump apart and took pictures of all components inside, I even wrote a little rapport about what the problem are and which bad component they put in the pump. Whale promised me a new and improved pump, for my trouble. Now long time after, they apparently have forgotten all about me and the dangerous pump with cheep motors. :-(

Now 6 months after, still no new pump from Whale, they are not to be trusted- don’t bye there products!!!!!

Phone number for customer service 08450694253 cost me £8 for a 7 minute 10 second call. Absolutely disgusting... furious. This scam like behaviour alone is enough for zero stars. Avoid.

First of all, Whale hot water tanks are among the most expensive and were supposedly highly rated but when a tank lasts less than 2 years, that is not acceptable. We purchased 2 hot water tanks less than 2 years ago for our boat, placing one on top of the other. They come with a 2 year warranty, which is a joke, because you have to ship your old tank back at your cost (almost $200), then they will determine if it's actually covered. There"s very little that is actually considered a covered problem. Then, if by some chance it is covered, you have to pay that shipping again for a replacement tank! For that price, I could almost purchase a new tank! We spent weeks going back & forth with the company over this, but to no avail! My suggestion is buy a cheaper tank, it will last just as long and you can skip the headaches!

I’ve had a whale duo control space/water heater in my campervan for 2 years now and I’m truly sick to death of it. The van was 2 years old when I bought it. It has been the most unreliable system I’ve ever known. Whenever I try to switch it on it often takes many attempts before, if I’m lucky, it finally works. Today the water heater is working but the space heater isn’t. The fault code lights indicate insufficient gas supply yet I’m on EHU and have full gas. The control panel won’t reset so I’ll have to switch it all off, wait a while and try again. The Heater has been to Propex for repair twice already and I’m simply fed up with it. I could never recommend Whale heating systems to anyone!!

Dreadful product continuous failures faulty components - which they argue are even possible ! Two vans fail within a week costing time stress and money
Out of pocket and basically the company who helped us out tremendously are being called unscrupulous

Absolutely brilliant customer service. Have had Whale Henderson Mk.5 pumps on our boat for years, an excellent product. But the special rocker arm nuts failed and these are not included in the service kit. I phoned an extremely helpful man who sent me the nuts within 24 hrs at no charge. Thanks, Whale!

Terrible product, temperamental and inefficient. Not fit for purpose.
I really don't know how this company remains in business and why any motorhome manufacturer would install such poor equipment!
Constantly goes into fail mode and has to be reset. Rubbish 😡

Terrible product. We run two motorhomes with these in and they are constantly going to error. We manage to reset them eventually but there doesn't seem to be any reason it errors in the first place. Customer service is terrible, they just tell you to press the reset and if that doesn't work then they just say go get it fixed.

Terrible customer service. Our water heater cracked resulting a replacement being required. Spent £700 to discover that there are different models albeit they look identical but not compatible with our control panel. Whale are unable to supply a replacement and unable to say when they will have one. This despite being told the week before that they had them available.
No one answers the phone and when I finally did get a call back to my second email, they were less than helpful.

Absolutely terrible service from a rude lady, she didn't understand the product and hang up twice... I will return the product as she could not answer simple questions... If I were the owners here I would be listening to call and training staff here.

I emailed customer support looking to replace a part on my caravan water pump system, Paula D got back very quickly explaining that the part I wanted wasn't sold as a spare, but if I sent my address, she would source the part for me ... I expected another email telling me where to get the part from, but no, the next day a small parcel turned up with the part I needed in, what service!
