Appliances Online ignore the law when goods go faulty

I brought I dishwasher from Appliances Online mid Oct 10, the dishwasher now has a fault. I called customers services to be told that they can’t help as it is over a year since the purchase. I was also told that I did not take the extended warranty so basically that is my fault that Appliances Online cannot help.

I did not take out the extended warranty as in UK legally there is a maximum of 6 years cover on white goods. That law basically states that the product should last a reasonable amount of time. Common sense says a £300 dishwasher should last more than 14 months. Even after stating that they have a legal obligation to deal with this the woman I spoke to, said her manager stated no help would be provided. How badly can Appliances Online view their customers to ignore the law? I told the women that Appliances online are forcing me to go to trading standards who will only agree with me so why not deal with this now? Still Appliances Online would not oblige their legal requirement to deal with the faulty machine.

Don't deal with this company as they are not interested unless you buy their pointless warranty.
Please Google “sales of goods act white goods” read up on it and don’t be fooled into buying pointless warranties.
Remember your contract with Appliances Online not the manufacture, don’t let Appliances Online try to fob you off with such rubbish as they have tried with me.
