This goes back as far as my Christmas online splurge with various companies.
I have to say Tesco was most improved (mainly going on the Tesco Entertainment section) and took the top title going by our own experience. This was based on their pricing, ease of use and delivery options.
I first ordered to the house being a bit sceptical about the store delivery when a friend reported they didn't get a good service with this option (Elgin, Moray store. Item never turned up and member of staff didn't handle things well).
However others I spoke to did recommend so I tried it. Fantastic! No problem with waiting for the Postie. Go down to local Tesco get your milk and bread and collect order at Customer Services on way out. Added to this I'd gone through an Top Cash back (online voucher company) when putting the orders in so got a nice surprise this month when I was able to claim a reasonable percentage back from these purchases. Not much but every little helps...
Tesco do get a slating sometimes but they are a massive company who are still young in terms of their online experience compared to Amazon etc (Amazon still looks better and obviously has more to offer).
With their recent bad press and statement about restructure I think Tesco are going to improve providing they do keep to their promise to invest in the UK.
Certainly worth recommending.
In all the years I've been shopping, and over the last three years this has increasingly been done on the internet, I have never experienced a better service.
I live up in the North of Scotland and had a query. Tried phoning them and thought it might take ages but call picked up quickly, spoke with a friendly and knowledgeable member of staff who was also pretty honest about my query (in relation to those dreaded, hard to get Skylanders. He explained that they had an order coming ion but couldn't guarantee the supplier would allocate the full amount. I asked about pre order and he suggested I could wait and see but cancel at any time).
This alone secured my preorder. Easy to get through to, friendly, knowledge of the product, honest and good advice. It's like I'd just phoned up to a local shop in our wee town.
Just after the pre order release date I was notified order had come in and was in process of been packed. Then another email to say it had been posted. In less than 24 hours our Postie was at the door to hand it over.
Delighted four year old also gives thumbs up!
By the way I had the same pre order in with the behemoth of online retailing (you know who) and they haven't produced on any of my orders for this particular toy/game accessory, though they have plenty advertised by third parties at inflated prices.
ShopTo should also be highly commended on not trying to cash in on the supply they did receive.
Check my account ShopTo you'll find I've just put three more orders in.
