I love jAlbum because the way it saves me time. I organize my picture files on my computer using folders in a structured way. I only have to add new pictures to my portfolio tree and then jAlbum automatically reflect this on my online portfolio.
However I have some large albums which cause memory errors. I altered the jalbum.ini to allow it to use much more RAM than configured by default. These days multigigabyte PC's are the rule rather than the exception. So I changed -Xmx into 1024. For performance reasons I also let it allocate 1G from the start with -Xms set to the same value. Your mileage may vary but I strongly recommend to increase at least Xmx (max RAM used by Java), especially if you have errors while generating/updating an album.
