Disappointing

The day care staff themselves are fantastic and the detail and quality of care they provide when they are present is genuinely brilliant. Unfortunately, this is consistently undermined by poor management and time management. Care visits are frequently changed or delayed without notice, communication is unreliable, and issues are often only addressed after families are left chasing answers. The frontline carers deserve real credit, but the ongoing problems clearly sit at a management and organisational level and urgently need improvement.

Anglian care

My mother had these as carers sent to her from the hospital at the begining of a hospital discharge, to begin with they were great but a certain male carer who should not be a carer! because that was the last thing he wanted to do on most occasions he just came in went straight to the toilet then sat on the sofa on his phone ignoring any questions. My mother is diabetic and has to have food at certain times. She was taken to bed at 7.30 then was not seen until 11am the next morning, when asked about this they said sorry we have a time sheet,
That's not an excuse!

When my mother passed away they never…

When my mother passed away they never even offered thier sympathy - just an invoice! One of thier employees illegally recorded a conversation between my mother and I and proceeded to play it to others (nothing to do with my mothers care) As usual, this company is a cash cow and is totally oblivious as to what the word "Care" means. To be fair, the carers are "mostly" competent, but like so many other care providers - the most important thing is the bottom line.

Only 5 stars because I can't give 6

There is a million miles between Anglian and mums previous care company. In three days with their wonderful carers mum has had more kindness and attention than she had in the previous 8 weeks. They are so thorough and do everything that they are supposed to without being asked. They never rush mum and I can see the difference straight away. Where she used to be urging me to cancel their visits she now looks forward to their arrival. And the times of the visits are perfect.
When they took over they told mum they would send different carers at first so that all of their team could get to know mum, this is really good as she now knows all of the team and she likes them all. There are some really bad care providers out there - I am so glad we found Anglian.

27 different carers in 30 days

We went with these because they promised a core team of carers (typically 9 or so) with constant Covid testing, flexible times for visits. This was all promised verbally but NOT in the contract we signed.

27 different carers in 30 days (we gave up counting).

Most of the carers were good and I can't knock them at all. Some were very good.

One particular carer was a bit "loud" for the client.

Another really was not suitable for the patient at all. We watched her on her phone, ignoring the patient when she tried to start a conversation and generally be offish, and to be honest, it probably wasn't her fault, she was young and probably didn't understand the clients needs. We asked if they would refrain from sending her around and again they promised not to. She still was still sent.

When you want to change the time of the visits you have to give a weeks notice because "the rotas are done for this week already". When they get the requested times wrong, again you have to wait a week to fix it and put up with them coming an hour late in our case.

When you cancel the contract you have to give 30 days notice and you still pay for the scheduled visits. In hindsight we should have reduced the visits to say once or twice a week and then cancelled, saving hundreds of pounds.

So after we requested the contract cancelled the next carer that turned up was another new carer (several months had passed). We turned her away. She must
have reported it as the client refused entry. The client cant even get to the door. {The carer that we requested NOT to send and was due later in the week, and seemed to be on the rota quite regularly for the cancellation period!}. We received a phone call asking if we were going send ALL carers away and do we want to cancel them all? Obviously they wanted to double book a carer and get paid from us and another patient for the same carer.

As a positive the 95% of the carers are good with the client. On time. Many bringing things to entertain her (one lovely carer brought and made sausage rolls with her).

Reply from Anglian care

Hello,

Thank you for your review of our service.

We have requested more information so that we are able to identify the person that we cared for and ensure that we can look at the amount of carers and the issues you have raised, unfortunately this was declined.

We do not have one person that we care for whereby there has been 27 care team members in 30 days as this is not possible with the amount of staff we have in each area. Anglian Care is happy to provide continuity reports so these figures can be analysed.

Here at Anglian Care we always strive for a quality service with continuity of care. The 28 day notice period is to give a transition to future care provision, throughout this time we actively engage with the care home or other healthcare professionals to ensure there is a smooth transition. We do engage with advocates and family members when the care team are refused entry to ensure that the person that we are caring for is well and their advocates/family are kept informed.

Unlike many social care companies we do run a time crucial service. This means that we do ensure that those we care for have regular times so they can build a routine. Naturally if we have a time scheduled and you would like to change this, this will take at least a week. When we start caring for someone we ensure we have that time each day for them, so when this is changed, we have to reorganise our care teams schedule.

Thank you for your kind words regarding the care team!

If you would like to discuss any aspects you have mentioned in your review call us on 01268 795800.
