Ripped off by sneaky rules
My hired car was broken into in Italy. A window was broken, fortunately (I thought) I paid extra for window cover to Discovercarhire. NO. Even though my Booking Voucher said Alamo Car Hire, the actual provider was Enterprise car hire. I tried calling Alamo, but they would not help me because my voucher number was not on their system. I next tried Enterprise car hire, because they were the ones who gave me the car (and another car when I returned the damaged one 4 hours after collecting the first- thanks guys well done). By the time I had negotiated my way through the maze of their website and booking numbers etc a couple of weeks had gone past after I had returned to my home. They claimed that I was not covered because I had not purchased extra insurance from them. I tried to explain to them that I HAD paid for extra insurance but their website would not allow me to upload the original voucher showing the extra insurance. After another couple of visits to their website/live chat site, I was finally told I had to go to discover car hire and negotiate with them. GREAT, progress I thought.
NO. By now a month and one day had passed since I had returned the car to Enterprise (who invoiced me as Locauto?????). I was told to by Discovercarhire to submit photos, police reports, paid invoice copies for the damage etc (fair enough I thought). I was then emailed by Discovercarhire to say that because it was more than 28 days since I had returned the vehicle and had not contacted them, that they would not pay a cent. I have tried to point out to them that I had submitted to their representatives (Enterise/Locauto) and had tried with Alamo, to no avail. They will not listen to reason. Interestingly, their original voucher for the car hire requires a magnifying glass to actually find their name.
So, Alamo and Enterprise, be warned you have some not very nice people ruining your reputation by their lack of reasonable responses.
WARNING TO ALL - Keep away from Discover Car Hire - they are rogues and should be put out of business. That's if you actually figure out that they are there in the background when you think you are dealing with Alamo to hire a car.

Horrific experience!
Horrific experience! I turned up at Barcelona airport expecting my car hire experience to be the easiest part of the trip. This is basically a cover up company for Gold Cars who are scam merchants!! I ended up having to cancel my booking and finding another car rental agency on the spot costing me a lot of money. I do feel lucky however that the ludicrous 1.6k euro deposit didn't get into the hands of this horrible company! I'll be pursuing legal compensation for the original booking.

By far and away the worst company I have ever dealt with. When I turned up to pick up my car it turned out that Discover Car Hire had never made a booking for me. This meant I had to pay for a new car then and there. Not only that but they refused to compensate me, despite me providing evidence that they never made the booking. I have had to take legal action to get my money back. Avoid at all costs.
