sellers beware

Only just started using eBay for selling. First few sales went well then someone demanded a refund For something ridiculous (won’t bore you all) so spoke to eBay for the first time for help and they said I HAD to accept the return and refund all cost including postage there and back. if not they would just deduct it from my account! WTH??? The no returns option is a joke as a seller as that couldn’t be further from the truth. Got a few items running this week then closing my account Once done. Tara eBay.

WOULD YOU BUY FROM AN EBAY SELLER WITH…

WOULD YOU BUY FROM AN EBAY SELLER WITH 1 * ? SO WHY BUY FROM EBAY THEMSELVES WHO ONLY HAVE 1*
BEWARE ! DO NOT SELL ON EBAY!!!!!!!
I have been Buying and selling on eBay for 15 years ! The final nail is in the coffin for eBay as a seller &buyer .

99% of the stuff from China ! Also states sent from UK ! The market is filled with hackers and crooks and fake clothes .
Absolute crooks .Last year I advertised a car , honest with the listing , bits of rust etc, bare in mind the car was 30 years old ! Some young hilly billy bought it without looking at it !drove to collect the car (4 hour drive )with his hilly billy dad ! Hilly billy dad was clueless and making excuses not to buy the car , don’t think he knew what he was doing ! Cut a long story short they asked for petrol money and the insurance money back !! I politely told them to f &@£ £&@!!
I get bad feedback and I can’t leave them any feedback .

Final straw ! Just sold an iPhone X ! User used another account to message me to send it there , the so called eBay fraud team can’t do anything ! No seller protection and I’m £300 .00 out of pocket .
There’s been other cases like paypal holding your money ! Just look at eBays overall feedback , say no more !

Never will I sell on here again.

Never will I sell on here again.
After many years and excellent comments on every sale, I sold an item that the buyer falsely complained about and tried to get for half price.
My sales record counted for nothing but the buyers apparent, extensive knowledge of eBay did.
Buyer seemed a scammer who tried to get me to sell item for half price several times.
Buyer time wasted so I missed dates. When I realised buyer offering false info eBay had washed hands of case and refused to even assist with items return.
Finally got item returned 10 weeks after they purchased. Organised all sorts of courier services.
The item was as described so a refund should never have been issued. The stress caused was huge.... The item was valuable.
I consider myself lucky to have it returned but only after extensive research to successfully complain about the buyer ensuring its return

Fast becoming the “MySpace” for selling!!

I’ve been selling on eBay a long time but it’s ever so slow sales wise lately, things just sit there for sale for weeks. I’m increasingly finding I’m ending items on eBay because they’ve sold through Facebook Marketplace first. I think ebay have shot themselves in the foot with all their petty rules and regulations. Nobody in their right mind would use this platform for serious business. Users cannot run a business successfully when eBay (wrongly) impose silly listing bans and ridiculous restrictions on your account, it all feels a bit like you’re a naughty school child and it’s pathetic. eBay are far from fair either, I’ve had items removed where others are selling the exact same item without a problem and I’ve been told not to relist these items as they don’t follow eBay rules, that’s all well and good if you impose the restrictions on every seller, singling one seller out and not others is in my opinion nothing short of discrimination. I can see items I had removed for sale, on sale right now by other people on eBay and they’ve been for sale ever since I had the same item removed?. I spent almost 3 hours on the phone to customer services recently, and it’s the same scenario every time you ring them. You wait forever to get through and when you are connected you are met with a stone wall, they’re right and you’re wrong. It’s terribly frustrating trying to get any sense out of them. I recently had to ring them 3 consecutive days with the same issue and I was given vastly differing information about the same issue by 3 different operators, I think you have to guess which is the correct answer? My advice to anyone thinking of selling on eBay is this... do not lay all your eggs in the eBay basket, you will regret it. Look also at alternatives such as Amazon and Facebook Marketplace - Sure, Facebook is more localised but it’s busy and I recommend it - no fees, no fuss and the item is usually collected, no messing about for you! I’m still selling on eBay for now but my plan long term is to ditch them completely, I think they’re a bit “MySpace” nowadays, if you know what I mean! Similarly eBay was always my go-to for buying bits and pieces but having being put off time and again by their shocking customer service I’m loathe to buy anything on there lately, thus making them even more profit, I tend to look outside the ebay box now for online purchases. Overall I’m less than happy with eBay.

The worse platform ever

The worse platform ever. I pay over 2k monthly and I have no protection. Buyer can use item, for a couple of weeks then claim that received faulty! They will make a decision automatically on buyer favor. I cannot wait to set up my website and close the account on eBay. Customer service will repeat the same ridiculous rules every time! The only what they care about is how to rip you off!

Disgusting platform

Disgusting platform. I've been on eBay for 8+ years, it used to be a great marketplace. Now all "new" phones are chinese refurbished items. Everything I sell turns out to be a scam of some sort. Most recently I sell a phone clearly stating (and showing images) of the screen being broken. Customer receives it, opens a dispute because "phone screen is broken" and now I'm being forced to pay return postage as eBay sided with the buyer. Incomprehensible how awful & disgusting your trading practices have become.

eBay sucks

eBay sucks! A buyer, Dee Nee from Wales, ripped me off. She received my delivery and lied about not receiving it. I submitted the proof of purchasing the padded bag and postage to eBay. eBay refunded the buyer without questions. This is awful! I am going to cancel my account.

I had a buyer purchase a dress from me…

I had a buyer purchase a dress from me back in January which she wanted for her holiday dress was sent 6 weeks later she is back with a return notification stating the dress was ripped and hand sewn and she had been on holiday when the dress was delivered, the return was rejected due the time involved in reporting the issue, and may I point out the dress when it left me was in excellent condition This morning I have now received negative feedback from her I have rang Ebay to remove this but as usual they declined they never ever back the seller The person concerned has not been on holiday all this time as she purchased two more dresses this month which leads me to believe she is telling fibs I would like to point out that I do have excellent feedback until today

Unbelievable

I have just sold an item for £350 on Ebay, the purchaser paid for it immediately but Ebay have withheld the money. I got notified of this by Paypal saying I would get a message from Ebay explaining why - I didn't so called them and they said they have to make sure it gets there so it could be 21 days until I get paid. My answer was isn't that what tracking and insurance is for? I have had to pay the £11 postage out of my own pocket until they cough up. I very much doubt they will delay taking their fee!!! Once this transaction has gone through I will delete my account and never use them again. Appaulling.

Unfair Auto Bidding System

Now some will say I'm salty because I lost. I am annoyed, but not only because I missed out on an item I really wanted. Because I believe the auto bidding system is unfair.

I was watching an item which stated a starting bid of £3.50.

In my eyes that means that I have to bid in-excess of this.

Unbeknown to me someone else had set up auto bidding with maximum bid of £6.50. Clearly hidden from me due to privacy issues.

My argument is, if there is already a bid of £6.50 in the system, why was I allowed to waste time bidding lower than this?

If I take the time to physically be on my phone as the auction runs down, why was I allowed to waste bids that were going to be unsuccessful?

That's not how an auction works. If you walk into Sotheby's and take part in an auction, you have all the information needed to bid for the item.

There are no vagaries about the current position.

As I said to the Ebay customer (dis)satisfaction agent, you don't go to a store to buy a can of coke (clearly marked as £1) and then put 50p on the counter. You're wasting yours and the shop keeper's time.

If people cannot be bothered to physically take part in the auction, as it runs down, then all current maximum bids must be clearly shown.

Because it is a waste of my time if someone has put in a maximum bid of say £20, yet the starting position is £5. Most people will start with small increments beginning at £5.50, £6 etc.

Stop wasting people's valuable time.

better off giving away for free

There is no support if something goes wrong. All of EBays responses are robotic. You are better off using Facebook, Gumtree or other selling sites for selling something. After the fees and the little people are willing to pay, on top of having to take the time to package it and post it off, you may as well give your items to a charity shop

eBay for Sellers & Buyers

I have been an eBay Specialist since 2008 and have been using on eBay from 2006.

I have successfully Managed eBay business accounts for SME companies, non profit charities and my own eBay enterprise where each face their own logistical complications.

eBay is an ever evolving global marketplace which sets out stringent policies and procedures to coincide with Distance Selling Regulations and processes to create a safe, honest and trusted environment for both Buyers and Sellers alike.

In my experience, I have seen everything, from dishonest Sellers to fraudulent Buyers. Eventually all are removed from eBay by eBay but this does take time but it is something eBay is proactively working on to improve the platform.

Sellers who complain about eBay generally do not understand how to use the platform correctly or have not received the outcome from a dispute they wanted which may have simply come down to not implementing the correct structure from the initiation of a buyers issue, but that doesn't make it a bad marketplace.

Buyers who complain about eBay generally do not understand how distance selling works and that there are governing policies to define what can and cannot be done and usually expect more from Sellers than they're legally required of.

In my experience - Sellers who complain are behaving dishonestly and Buyers who complain are trying to play the system whereby both will come unstuck.

Sellers should always aim to maintain 100% Positive Feedback with 0% DSR with impeccable communication, Fast & Free Shipping and be rewarded with a Top Rated Seller badge with items qualifying for Premium Seller status.

Buyers should always refrain from randomly or flippantly leaving poor negative feedback and be open to amicably cooperating to resolve a dispute or issues with a Seller.

Your experience will only be as good as your involvement.

Advice to Buyers:
a) Read the description fully and see what is/not included
b) Base your purchase on the seller not the price.
c) Check the sellers performance / Feedback
d) Ask questions if you unsure - sellers welcome this
e) Check the shipping ETA so you know when to expect it
f) Check your name, address & contact number at checkout
g) If there is an issue, communicate with the seller to resolve it
h) If the Seller fails to help, involve eBay to step into assist
I) Buy responsibly and leave honest fair feedback

Advice to Sellers:
Ensure the you cover the above Advice to Buyers!

Not a good marketplace for Sellers

Ebay used to be pretty good marketplace. However now it has become a haven for unscrupulous buyers who want free stuff. They buy something on Ebay, then make up some half-baked claim that the item is defective. They can keep the item, and Ebay will still send them a refund no matter what!

Ebay doesn't care whether the sellers are treated fairly. Don't sell any high-end items on ebay. Buyers will keep the item and demand a refund.

Terrible Customer Service

I used to be a big fan of ebay since I was a kid after 15 years I am in the position to close all of my accounts, poor customer service and in my case no "user protection policy" , got robbed and can't do anything about it.. The phone number provided never responds, and I can't even email them or chat with them online
