Rude and Discriminatory Treatment at Edeka Markt Schwaben over a child eating an apple

Incident occurred today at Edeka Spitt, Erdinger Straße, Markt Schwaben.
My two-year-old child ate an apple inside the store before billing. At the checkout, I already had two apples and clearly told the cashier to charge me for an additional apple that my child was eating. I fully understand that items should be paid for before consumption, and I made no attempt to avoid payment.
However, the cashier’s behavior was completely unacceptable. She was extremely rude, uncooperative, and behaved as if I had committed theft. Her attitude was aggressive and disrespectful, and as someone who is not from this country, her behavior felt discriminatory and racist.
If a person is working at a cashier counter, they are expected to handle such situations professionally, especially when it involves a small child and a customer who is clearly willing to pay. Instead, I was treated with hostility and humiliation. This was a very bad experience and reflects poorly on the store and its staff.

scam

I bought a sim card in this store. It was not written on the package that it cannot be used by Bulgarians, only by Ukrainians. They deceived me, because I am Bulgarian, I cannot use this sim card. I wrote several times to get my money back, but they refused. I was deceived by a large German chain. I pray to Satan to punish all of you. I do not recommend your company to anyone

Today I was at the checkout for a snack, I was with two small children, one in a stroller and I had a blanket, the woman at the checkout told me to take off the blanket, to see what I had. I'm not a thief, it was a very bad experience, I felt like I was in prison. I sent an email and they didn't return anything. I'm never going there again.

Edeka,HUMA Sankt Augustin

Edeka,HUMA Sankt Augustin
Treated like garbage at the cheese counter. First, the lady at the counter ignored me then barked „Wait!“ when I asked for help and turned her her back ignoring me again. I was the only customer there. Hard to believe… still in utter shock. Loss of 150€ revenue each week. Never again will I go there.

Sprengelstr. 37, 13353 Berlin is the worst place I have ever shopped.
I went to checkout and my groceries were rung up with such a "I hate my job" attitude. Then after that my card decline because I configured my bank app incorrectly because of the negative atmosphere. In German the cashier yelled so loud declined and slammed the paper on the counter. I reconfigured app then paid successfully. I don't speak much German but you still shouldnt treat people like that in general. What a ugly show that place is and also closing 20 minutes early while avoiding customers who need help finding things. I'm boycotting Edeka.

Uuuund tschüß!!

As always, the aisles are crammed full with wagons overflowing with merchandise to be put on the shelves. you have to be careful trying to squeeze by to get what you need. the shrink wrap is carelessly dropped and spread all over the floor. i witnessed a child fall because of this. the employee that was right there was absolutel rude and just kept telling the mother tha isnt a playground and no running no running. the mom left
her wagon right there.the child wasnt running. she tripped on the plastic. i also left my buggy of stuff. outside she offered me a ride to penny. i spend between € 120 and €250 a week. not anymore, and even though edeka on the verdistraße is only 2-3 minutes to foot, i will walk the extra distance to penny. i am sure the woman wont be back either. to top it off, is cheaper and has fresher fruit and produce.

1st of all its extremely expensive then they send magazines with discount to our homes, when we go to use them they tell us these are valid at a specific branch! Then they should only sent these discount coupons to people living near that branch instead of people living closer to other branches. Senseless!

Selling spoiled meat at butcher counter

I purchase ground beef and roast beef on Tuesday evening to make burgers the same night and the next day, beef stew. Wednesday morning I had diarrhea and strong headaches which I recognized as symptoms of food poisoning. Knowing I had not had much to eat on Tuesday until dinner, I inspected my ingredients and found that the ground beef was 80% gray brown in the interior of the ball and 20% red on the exterior. I also opened the roast beef package and it had discolored tough patches and was sour smelling. This is very disappointing because it has been less than 24 hours since the purchase and this meat was spoiled. I have a background in food handling and food pathogens from my work with non profit food rescue and restaurants. This is unacceptable quality to sell to customers because the sourness and discoloration indicate bacteria had already affected the meat and toxins have formed. Even if you cook the meat to rid the bacteria, it cannot remove the toxins. Hence, my food poisoning symptoms. At a restaurant, we would never conceive of cooking this meat to feed a customer so it is shocking that Edeka deemed this good enough quality to sell. Today I went to the same store with pictures to tell them about this experience. My main concern is that others can get sick and be in danger if proper food handling practices are not happening and date labeling is not accurate. Without even letting me finish explaining, the customer service staff member was defensive, cut me off several times, and kept telling me what I did wrong. She said it is normal for ground beef to be discolored because it doesn’t oxidize. Is this the best quality you can offer customers? When I told her it shouldn’t make me sick, she cut me off again and argued by saying meat always needs to be cooked the same day of purchase. I calmly said (once more) I did that for the ground beef. She finally just says she needs to see the meat in order to take action. Why would I keep rancid meat in my refrigerator or my kitchen and contaminate my food and compromise my health?? That is insane as an argument and not possible when customers have work or classes that begin before store hours open. As a weekly shopper at Edeka, this was completely insulting. I never mentioned a refund or that this was a 22€ purchase just for the meat. I came on the earliest day I could because I am a university student and have weekday classes. The weather was horrible raining cats and dogs and I walked there arriving soaked from knees down. This was not about monetary compensation; it is about food handling and public safety. Until now, I have seen the butchery staff wipe their runny nose with the back of their gloved hands and continue to help customers with the same gloves. I have seen them not always change gloves when going between handling different meats and typing on the scale. After this terrible food poisoning experience and 1.2kg of useless spoiled meat, I get the impression that health and sanitation is not very important to them. Moreover, my health and weekly support as a customer is not be that important either. I hope this review gets read by management so they will be more careful with their food handling procedures and staff training. Don’t sell things that are spoiled and tell us it’s our fault! For the time being, I am completely insulted and deterred by this experience from going to Edeka again.

EDEKA horrible experience

We are first time tourists to germany. Went to Edeka EVERYDAY and our bill has always been 150+Euros. As usual we went to the orange juice machine and after squeezing 1/2 orange the machine broke down. Since there was some residual juice my kids drank and and gave the bottle back to my husband who was waiting for the machine to be repaired so he can have his bottle of juice to fill up. We did rest of our shopping and went to check out counter. As we paid and were about to leave a very punk looking guy approached us claiming hes a CID and theres a criminal act committed by us and we need to hand in our passports to make a police record. Horrified and confused we asked the counter lady if thiz person works for the store she flatly refused and said she has no clue. The store manager arrived at scene and confirmed that this guy is a 'Store CID' and we commited an act of theft. When asked what did we steal he mentioned that drinking the residual orange juice and not paying for it is considered as theft. I said ok we did not know this and am happy to pay to finish this matter. Paid €10 and now banned from ever entering Edeka stores. Thanks Edeka for this embarassment and showing your immaturity as you do not know the difference between a store thief and someone who made a genuine error. Shame on you!

Edeka Müllerstrasse 12 Berlin 13353 AWFUL EXPERIENCE

Edeka Müllerstrasse 12 Berlin 13353 has terrible staff. I went to buy groceries this morning and a staff member made a comment that I did not appreciate. I gave feedback about how I had found my experience in the store so far (the price per kg was written in such a small print, and combined with the lighting, made it very difficult to read). This offended him and he called security. The staff then followed me through the store and threatened to call the police. I told them to do so. It was such an over reaction! When I went to pay, they turned off the self service check outs which made me go to the staffed register. He was told not to serve me and they took away my food items. They all then refused to give me any of their names as I made it clear that I would be making a complaint about their behaviour. One female staff member even tried to take my phone from me when I had it in my hand to make a note of their names. I have never been so mistreated in a store before! 😡
