My GMX account has been blocked for error

My GMX account has been blocked for more than three weeks without any response from support, despite multiple contact attempts through all official channels. This is preventing me from accessing important professional correspondence.

Purpose with spam

Yes, it serves its purpose of sending you emails.
But it's very slow on the web, and it also sends you extra spam emails about its own advertisements.
It's probably not the worst email service, but it's definitely one of the worst.

Shambles

Set up a new email account with them. Thew next day it was blocked for 'irregular activity'. I contacted them to understand this - the reply said my account was blocked because it was inactive for 6 months. I had only just opened it. A shambles.

No Premium possible

I want to upgrade to premium and it does not work. Why? I do not know, there is not even an error message.
So, they want people to upgrade but are too incompetent to provide a working way to do so. Support does not exist. Of course there is no email support only an expensive hotline which as we all know does not mean that competent people work there.
Their app also does not work anymore on iPad, it is known for months and they do not care at all.
Tried to contact them via LinkedIn but even there it is only a dead mailbox.

Don't risk and don't trust GMX

Don't risk and don't trust GMX
After ~6 months of using mail without any problems I got banned for no reason. Problem is that I kept migration service documents there and now when I lost access I have to re-apply for residence permit. 2 years lost because of the GMX. Support is neither answering, nor trying to do anything for months.
They can't even do email forwarding to my other e-mail. Tried calling to gmx.de support but was directed to use gmx.com support.

gmx.de and gmx.com are different companies but they are part of the same group. I'm just broken that one simple company can ruin your life without even trying to help. If God is real please help.

It's been hell recently

It's been hell recently. I've been a customer for 15 years with multiple email addresses. I have lost access to my oldest one as GMX decided to lock my account, perhaps they didn't like that I'm using a VPN.

I have been unable to regain access to said account because my name that I entered into the GMX personal info form did not include my 2nd and 3rd name. So the entire ID verification thing fails. Customer service can't help me.

Now with another email account that I have with them, they have started to block my outgoing emails. 7 outgoing emails have been marked as spam.
I'm using the email client on my iPhone.

I switch to the GMX web UI, that has worked for a couple of times. UNTIL TODAY. I'm no longer able to send emails. Again, I assume they don't like that I'm using a VPN (which I have to for security reasons).

I'm trying to leave GMX. I hate them now.

Bad in every sense

Emails are always landing in spam, even from gmx to gmx. Some emails are not showing, some are not sent and worst of all some are disappearing!!!!

Worse than dreadful.

If I could put a minus star rating here, there wouldn't be one low enough! I so wish I had read a few of the reviews on here before I even considered using this as an alternative email for freelance work.

In simple terms my account has been locked and clearly I have been hacked. Absolutely no response from GMX customer support other than an email stating that a ticket had been issued and someone would look into the situation and get back to me. Probably sent by hackers.

I suspect someone will soon be in touch to ask for payment to unlock it.

Thankfully I have only linked this account to a few people as I have not had it very long.

Just don't touch it - appalling company

Screw you GMX

Screw you GMX. When I open your webpage it's full of ads, when I open my mailbox it's full of ads and spam, which my adblocker cannot do anything about ... but you still force me to watch a stupid ad because my adblocker prevents you from getting cash for ads .... this is harassment. You either offer a free service or you don't.

more than 5 MONTHS LOGIN IMPOSSIBLE - account disable and data remove after 6 months!

March 3rd, evening.

We are moving towards 6 months no access to my account and my account being deactivated and my data being deleted.

I still can send emails and the account receives them. Recently I heard, that a friend of mine tried to reach me via email several times and wondered why I don't respond! I still can't receive or send emails through the account since Sept. 22rd 2022 !!

Report to GMX ends in default messages and default "no" replies to "was this helpful" in the email. You need an email address from a separate provider to get in contact with GMX to solve issues with an email provider and they don't even care about reports you send. More than 5 months no access! Not with the client, not on the website. Not thee only one to complain! No changes. Not upgrades, not passwords, not settings. NO CHANGES! Just login not working.

THIS IS A SCANDAL! One of the most important communication tools these days. More than 5 months no access and no response to LISTS of reports on the issue. GMX, you should be ashamed of yourself! Do you seriously think, someone is EVER going to pay you for this crap service, if even free doesn't even work properly? LOGIN? One of the most important and most BASIC functions?!?!? Look into tons of reports on service disruption reporting websites. Look into form messages you reply to automatically instead. You've probably received THOUSANDS of reports on login issues at this point!

Rejects legit mails if you are not a "big-corp"

Blocking mails "server-side" because of Reverse DNS is not the right way to fight spam.

Be aware, this review is very technical, but if you are a user of GMX (or any other German provider that rejects mails based on rDNS) I would suggest finding an alternative mail service where you at least can see the spam mails and review if they are actually spam or not.

So why is this rDNS blocking a problem? Well, IPv4 addresses are a sparse resource, which means many of us have to reuse a few and/or single ip-addresses for multiple purposes, but this shared ip address can only have one rDNS entry, but to satisfy GMX you will need to buy an expensive (monthly fees) IPv4 address for each domain and have the relevant rDNS pointers (more fees) set up, way to go in blocking off small businesses and only supporting big-corp!

And before any of you more technically inclined peopel ask; yes, the domains in question are fully compliant in regards to SPF, DKIM, DMARC, TLS and secure DNS, but since there is a slight difference in the rDNS the mail simply gets rejected by GMX and the end user will not even know this has happened. Because of this i have to manually parse these mails through a GMAIL account. Not even my Hotmail account is working (properly because my hotmail address ends in hotmail.dk but i would guess the rDNS pointer states hotmail.com).

And just as a side note, my mail system is fully IPv6 compliant including rDNS, but gmx.de has no AAAA record...

Unfortunately this problem is persistent on most German mail providers, but using this practice is bad for all small providers/businesses as long as IPv6 is not in widespread use!
Please consider using this rDNS practice only as a secondary check if a mail looks suspicious. All other mail servers outside Germany seems to be doing it just like that.
