My wife recently had four tyres fitted at Golden Barn Garage and spoke very highly of the experience. She found the staff professional, helpful, and thorough, particularly when advising her about some issues with her discs and brake pads. Based on her experience, I decided to use them myself for four new tyres on my own car.

I had recently spent a significant amount having my alloy wheels professionally refurbished, so I was very careful about where I took the vehicle. From the outset, the experience was excellent. The girls on reception were extremely helpful and accommodating, doing everything they could to fit the car in early and ensure it was ready for me to use the following day. Communication throughout was polite, professional, and informative.

However, after collecting the car and washing off the tyre fitting residue at home, I noticed damage to one of the recently refurbished alloy wheels — specifically a scratch and chip that I know was not there beforehand.

I contacted the garage, and to their credit they responded the following day, stating they would review CCTV footage and speak with the fitters. After doing so, they concluded that no damage had occurred while the vehicle was in their care and considered the matter closed.

What disappointed me most was not just the outcome, but the handling of the situation afterwards. I felt the concern was dismissed rather quickly. Given the condition of the wheels beforehand, I remain convinced the damage occurred during the tyre fitting process.

It’s unfortunate because up until that point the experience had genuinely been very positive. The customer service from the office staff was excellent and the tyre fitting service itself appeared professional. But ultimately, the unresolved damage to the wheel and the dismissive response afterwards left me with a negative final impression.

For that reason, I’ve left a one-star review.

Thanks to National Highways, back in January, I was forced to make a trip to Golden Barn Garage for a new front offside tyre and wheel alignment after hitting a really nasty pothole.

I called them first thing in the morning and GBG was excellent, They sourced a new tyre and fixed the car the same day. Amazing service on a Friday as I was due to travel that evening.

I’ve been successfully dodging that pothole since. Until last night. When I inadvertently hit it again.

I’m now sat in GBG whilst they fit a new tyre and conduct a four-wheel alignment.

Either GBG sponsors that pothole or National Highways are not fixing what I’ve reported to them.

Hitting the pothole a second time left me deflated. Ruby at GBG was excellent on the phone this morning to ensure that my car was back up and running with minimal delay.

I can’t recommend GBG highly enough. This is by far the best independent garage I’ve visited. And I’ve known some good ones. I have no hesitation in recommending GBG for servicing and repairs.

I am very pleased with the new tailgate fitted on my Nissan Elgrand; the work has been completed to a very high standard. Louis and his colleague are not only highly professional, they are also thoroughly honest and decent men.

Cheerful staff that want to help. Problem fixed promptly. Drove away with confidence in a clean and working vehicle. What’s not to like!

I came into this garage for the first time to have a MOT on my BMW. Their customer service was amazing, right from the start when I spoke to Dawn on the phone who booked me in. Nothing was too much trouble - the service was excellent - and Keith went above and beyond to fix my BMW spare key...saving me hundreds for a new one!! And if that wasn't enough...when I came to pick my car up it was all shiny and clean!! Thank you.

I highly recommend this garage & the Team at Golding Barn Garage. They have always been courteous, knowledgable & professional. Their customer focus is exemplary, always offering a courtesy car during services, MOTs & repairs & carrying out work to an excellent standard. Having recently moved to a different county, I know It’s going to be difficult to find a comparable service. Thank you all so much.

I was really impressed with the service and helpfulness of everyone I dealt with here. . It was my first visit after many years dealing with a trusted garage which has now changed hands. I was nervous about going somewhere new, but these guys were great. I was given a courtesy car and kept updated . They were very helpful and courteous and I would definitely recommend.

These guys were excellent. My daughter was very badly treated by Halfords when taking her car in for its MOT ( which failed). We did not want to continue dealing with them so contacted Golding Barn which is more local to us. They couldn’t have been more helpful, polite and professional. We will definitely use them again and do not hesitate to recommend them .

Fantastic service from the team at GBG. We have been taking our much loved older classic Ford Puma there for years and they are always friendly, fun and give us great advice. Best garage in the area without a doubt. Very happy 😁

I took my classic car down to Olly at GBG for it's MOT as I've always struggled to find a trustworthy garage who would look after my car and respect it as they should. The guys there did exactly that and are those who appreciate the older engineering designs and criterias as well as the modern day standard. Highly recommend GBG for all types of mechanical work and bodywork, some of their completed projects look incredible. Many thanks, I won't be using anyone else! Daz

GBG did a fantastic job repairing my car which included repainting the tailgate and replacing and repainting the rear bumper. I’d had a terrible experience with an insurance appointed repairer that failed twice to complete the work satisfactorily. I chose to take it to GBG having used them previously for regular servicing. I was delighted with the quality and finish of the repair and they were a pleasure to deal with throughout, as always. Highly recommended if you want a garage that take pride in what they do.

I first used this amazing garage after buying a second hand car and wanted a professional opinion, they advised me extremely well about the car I had brought and helped by getting the original garage to pay for the stuff that was wrong with the car!!! How amazing is that! These guys are honest, trustworthy, professional and always answer and any questions in a way you can understand. They also give you a car while your car is being worked on!!!!! Their customer service is just outstanding! I will never go anywhere else and have used them several times now and have just been wowed every time (and I’m a fussy so and so). Stop reading this and just use them, you won’t be disappointed

Every time I have a problem with my car or my van , they never fail to be ready and able to deal with the problem - from mechanical to body work or the dreaded MOT... I will always drive away from this garage feeling safe and secure ... Unratable service with friendly and skilled staff ..
