Packaging meant to keep you out…?

First time buying a meal out of King Soopers. The instructions state to remove a corner of the plastic covering to vent the food. Problem was, the plastic is superglued to the tray perimeter and tears/splinters of the plastic ended up in the food while trying to remove it.

Extremely misleading meal kit…

Extremely misleading meal kit descriptions. Their "Oven-ready" line is NOT oven-ready. It's ingredients you will still have to prepare and cook separately. Oven-ready simply means the last step will be cooking in the oven. Impressive legal lying on their marketing department.

So far so good

So far so good. I received my first box, and there were three meals inside for two people, all insulated well with cold packs to ensure everything was kept at correct temps. I made the lettuce wraps with the requested upgrade to shrimp, and it was excellent. If the quality continues at this level, we will remain customers. If boxes start showing up without proteins, as others have posted, I will amend my review and cancel the subscription.

I am so happy!

I just received my first order and I am very impressed. The meal kit was fresh, the meal was easy to prepare, and the quality and quantity of the meal kits ingredients were more than I expected. Delicious and fun to prepare. Took all the time and effort out of figuring out what to eat and saved me tons of time in a grocery store. Truly happy and feel like the price was right on target. I have been searching for some time for a meal delivery company and have been very disappointed in the past. I have found my company!

Not good at all

Not good at all. They use so much packaging, the quality of the ingredients is not good and 66% of the meals we tried for 3 weeks were just not good flavor-wise. They send precut veggies.. Instead of sending whole vegetables for us to chop,they send it already cut in a plastic container or bag. Which lowers the quality, makes them mushy, creates extra packaging and is just unnecessary! We have tried blue apron and hello fresh and both were far superior to home chef

Food great, but delivery issues

Their recipes are awesome and spot on. Have never had one we didn’t like. However the delivery has become very lax as of the last three weeks. My food has been a day late for two weeks in a row now. This is difficult because I depend on the food as I am 24/7 caregiver for my mother and can’t leave home easily.

Family Member

This company came recommended from a family member. We placed our order, and meal planned for the week. Package delivered 4 days late- had the joy of squeezing in a mid-week grocery store visit and meal planning on the fly with busy parenting schedule- joy!

When we requested a refund, we received a $10 shipping credit, when we pressed them and pointed out the package is only rated for 24 hours and the box had been lost for 4 days in 90 degree heat, they processed the full refund, and offered little more for the inconvenience. Glad I found a new way to waste time. Thanks home chef!

I have used Home Chef every week (3 meals each week) since February, 2022, and have never had a bad meal. I think the delivery service might be to blame for some of the problems people talked about. I have learned new methods of cooking and used more spices than I ever imagined I would in my cooking. The flavors are amazing. The support team is very helpful. There was one time when the shipper did not come on the allotted day. When I called Home Chef they contacted the shipper and said the box would be one day late and they gave me credit for the entire 3 days worth of meals that were still fresh when they arrived the following morning. So I give the food and the service from home chef support 5 stars!!

home chef is terrible

home chef is terrible. i usually don't leave feedback like this but this company is like a scam. First i signed up for the first week, NEVER know that it's a AUTOMATIC subscription and they charge you automatically every-week. I got my second food on a sunday and they don't have customer support on sunday, what a coincidence. even if just talking about the food, it's too small portion and meat is not fresh. I strongly advise anyone to not use it.

I like others am experiencing a shitshow when it comes to this company's service. In the last couple of weeks the quinoa was missing from the QUINOA bowl, and the chicken was missing from the CHICKEN tortilla soup. If you can't even provide the ingredients that are in the title of the recipe, don't sell it - and if you realize when it comes time to ship that you're short something, offer a replacement MEAL and/or refund instead of recipe kits with gaping holes in them!!!!!

Home Chef Scam Operation

Corrupt horrible company. This company is operating a scam with false advertising of free meal promotion and gift cards. Their system treats gift cards as a discount which they then allege you cannot use the gift card and the promotion. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint which they treated with misdirection, failure to respond to the issues presented and complete disregard. When I persisted, they assumed a hard stand and refused to address the issues. The BBB complaint filed is Complaint ID # 19380978- Home Chef. I will continue to pursue this through law enforcement and judicial avenues. Steer clear to save yourself a lot of grief.

Save your money

Box was late, veggies were sad, old and wilted, had missing ingredients and incorrect ingredients. Recipes are also bland and lack flavor. Hello fresh is a WAY better option. Home chef is not worth it at all.

Misleading Meal Prep and Can't Cancel Subscription

Thought I was signing up for one meal delivery. "Seems" I was signing up for weekly. Were advertised as "just heat and serve" basically...with maybe a little prep. Tried to cancel subscription (which I never signed up for) but only option was "pause subscription." Emailed company that my subscription must be cancelled.

There is a problem with every single order

I’ve been a Home Chef customer for a month. That is four weeks of meals. The first two weeks the box with my food was damaged and they couldn’t deliver it. The third week, they sent the wrong ingredients and only partial ingredients. The 4th week, they sent an email that they ran out of ingredients and there would be a 2 day delay. I’ve never worked with a company where I’ve experienced so many problems. I give them 2 stars because they do give refunds very quickly when there is a problem, however, I shouldn’t have a problem every single week.

Don’t order

Don’t order. First box late a day and the fish package was leaking, veggies were slimy and soggy. The most hilarious part of it was that the Mahi Mahi with lemon burre blanc sauce had no beurre blanc or even vinegar to substitute. It ws lemon butter, water, and mayonnaise. Hmmm?! Maybe they found a guy named beurre blanc and asked him to make a mayo/butter sauce🤣🤣🤣. I got a refund. Same reason I left hello fresh, meats came punctured with blood all over the place. Food poisoning delivery to your door. Save your money and order Chipotle. Probably safer and cheaper in the long run.

Garlic and Herb Chicen Review

I bought a garlic and herb prepared chicken at my local Kroger. It had no flavor. I couldn't make a sandwich because even adding sauce like Chick-fil-a made no difference. Even trying salad dressing with chicken cut up into a salad didn't help. I threw it away..never again.

THE WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!

Hands down the ABSOLUTE worst home meal delivery service there is. If I could give them a big fat 0, they'd get it. They sent me the wrong kits and/or ingredients 3 weeks in a row!!! I told them this next delivery (after my discounts due to their incompetence) will be MY LAST! So, wouldn't you know...they screwed up THAT delivery too with wrong ingredients AND a wrong KIT! These people are absolute morons. I don't even have the energy to complain about my final delivery from this company that apparently can't get an order right. I'm a nurse that works away from home...I don't have time to deal with such incompetence. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!

Borderline scam

They only offer 2 oven ready meals, all 'meals' are double portions. Advertised price is per 'portion'. You have to give your credit card info to find this out and canceling your subscription doesn't cancel the first order, so they charge you and send you a bunch of random groceries.

Delivery is awful! Haven't received 3 orders in a row...

I have ordered 3 times and have not received any order as of yet. All of my orders get thrown out at the shipping department because they are not shipping them in a timely manner. After reading other reviews it seems as if this is not a good option for helping meal plan at all. 3 weeks of having to figure out new meals because they never came!!!
