Their Site was Hacked

Their site was hacked and they never told me! I only found out because I ran a security check on my phone! Apparently my credit card, location, password and bunch of other things were compromised!

So far it’s Great!!!

So far so good!! Everything I have ordered has been absolutely wonderful. I’ve heard my husband say every time... babe, this is delicious!! I’ve enjoyed making each one and I’m really not a fan of cooking. Lol I was sad to see the negative reviews. Hopefully these issues don’t happen often. Most of the recipes are easy to repeat if I wanted to which is nice for adding a variety to my options for cooking. I am very satisfied so far!!

No Meal Received, No Refund as Requested!!

The week of 2/12/21, I never received my order due to the winter storm. I have contacted Home Chef 4 times requesting a refund to my credit card so that I can cancel my account. This is not the first time I have had shipping issues with Home Chef. Their customer service rep, Lara, and her lackadaisical attitude about the fact that I rely on that weekly shipment and there was no food in our grocery stores in TX, on top of lack of power and water, is the straw that broke the camel's back. Now Home Chef has added a credit to my account, for a future order, when I made it clear to Lara and in subsequent requests that I want to cancel my account . It's apparent they are attempting to strong arm me into keeping their service. I am beyond over it with them. As it was too late to stop my 2/19/21 shipment, I received it and the bell pepper they sent with one of the meals was moldy. As other reviewers have stated, the recipes started being repetitive. I have been a customer since late 2019, but I am no longer interested in giving this company my money.

UPDATE: Called HomeChef and sat on hold for 10 minutes before hanging up ... no warm body, nothing. I will take my credit for one final order with them and then cancel my account. Bye.

I have used several meal delivery kits…

I have used several meal delivery kits and home chef is the worst one.They switch out the ingredients in the last minute and are way to costly for the portions they supply.Waited until 8:30 pm for them to deliver, which is way past dinner time then decided to find something else to eat since they didn’t deliver.I signed up to get text notification and they could have at least given me a courtesy text.Will not use home chef again or recommend it to anyone😡

Costly membership a must before you can peak at meal kits.

This, like almost all other meal kit companies, require a paid membership before anyone can check out the types of meals offered.

I don't get it because we don't need to pay to browse online, we don't need to pay to browse in a supermarket. So why do we need to pay to browse on these meal kit companies.

And canceling is no pleasure.

I'm sure the food for those who want to spend their evenings chopping away to eat 700+ calorie meals is good.

For me, it would have been easier if there was a simple option to just see the menus for the next few weeks. Decision made much more quickly.

Geat food, hard to use website if cancelling

Food quality is great, I like the little packages which make a fairly interesting meal without lots of left over odds and ends. But: I ended up being re-ordered on more food when i didn't want that. One of the meals was far far from my taste preferences, I have no idea how these got ordered?? !
And the website almost doesn't allow you to cancel your subscription or put it on hold. I felt like I was trying to break up with someone who was waaay clingy. I kept getting asked why and I never did find a simple cancel til further notice option. I ended up phoning their support number. I hope to use Home Chef again but only because they have a phone number I can call when I want to stop my ordering. I'm almost afraid to use their website. Ok understated; I am afraid to use their website.

We had a really good experience with…

We had a really good experience with Home Chef. We really like how everything is packaged and delivered. The meat is in a separate bag which is nice. Especially to just throw in the fridge. We did have a few missing recipe cards (it appears we received someone else's cards because we didn't have any of those recipes in our bag) yet the recipes are super easy to print off and keep things moving. People have some grace with other people these days, we live in interesting times! We were missing asparagus in one meal yet we were still able to cook it and eat. I grabbed a quick bushel at the store and Home Chef corrected the error. It's really easy to follow the recipe cards, cook and clean up. Sometimes I feel I'm using too many pans yet it's likely me because I'm so finicky about mixing certain things. The only reason we stopped using Home Chef is because I wanted to use a company that had the option of organic meat or no antibiotics/no hormones in the meat. If this were an option in the future, we would certainly consider coming back. We understand there would be a little bit of an increase per serving if it were an option yet would seriously consider coming back. We have no complaints!!! The experience was great!!!

Missing meal in our first box.

We received our 1st Box and threw everything into the refrigerator because we had an appointment that we had to get to. When I went through the menus of the different dishes, we chose the barbecue cheddar meatballs to have for dinner that night. That dish was not in our box.

I am happy to say this problem has been successfully corrected with the help of Mason M. from Homechef.

I have repeatedly tried to contact you, cannot reach you by phone (tried 2 days-recording only) or by e-mail.
Have gift for 3 meals 2 weeks and cannot place order, asks for MY credit card #, also will not accept my son's gift #. HOW can I order ??? You are NOT user friendly.

Avoid

Avoid. Our fourth experience with incorrect meal prep cards sent with order. Company claims disconnect with supplier. Beware of self-renewing feature and sketchy refund policy. Mis-matched ingredients. Shop elsewhere. Extremely disappointed.

Exceeded My Expectations!!!

I have been so happy with this service. In fact, they have exceeded my expectations. The meals have been wonderful! All of them! And, they also provide you with the recipes if you want to make them on your own in the future.

The process has been so simple. You can pick and choose whatever you want and then even customize it if you want. The quality of the food has been fantastic as well.

Thank you Home Chef for giving me the variety that we have needed.....especially during Covid!!!

Wrong instructions for the ingredients…

My husband and I received home chef for a Christmas gift. Our box for this week just arrived with our ingredients for Chipotle-tomato Shrimp Tacos as we ordered. But, the instruction sheet with it is for Fried Mushroom Tacos so we have no instructions on how to prepare the Chipotle-Tomato Shrimp Tacos. Could you please email me the instructions? Beware if you just want to look!!!!

My Wife and I just wanted to check out the service and didn’t realize that it charges the first order automatically. And of course right in their notes it says if you want to cancel the first order cannot be canceled. So my wife and I spent over $100 for some meals that were not even sure we want. It might be a good service but it sure feels like they are scamming you right off the bat.

Crappy customer care

Crappy customer care. I contacted them regarding a mistake packaging of a box (wrong recipe card). The initial response was diplomatic version of "to bad so sad. Here's how you can spend your time and money to deal with it so we don't have to!" When I responded that was unacceptable and remind them homechef says the recipe card is part of the package and I should have and want it, I was told it would be sent. That was early October. Still haven't received it.

Edit: reply to HomeChef. Your response is a complete and utter lie. I have contacted homechef twice and gotten the same response. HomeChef DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CORRECTING ITS MISTAKES. Apparently homechef is okay with losing hundreds of dollars a month over a recipe card. Pretty darn sad.

Gone to Crap

My husband and I had been using Home Chef for a year, but just cancelled our service. The service started off great even when the recipes started getting remarkably similar and the vegetable side was too often squash. Over the last few months, I found myself contacting them at least once or twice a month with issues that they don’t seem to care about. Due to the lack of care when packing our box, too often was there a puncture or tear in a package of meat causing blood or goo to get all over everything. Sometimes we paid for a fancier meat like filet mignon and didn’t get it. Other times, vegetables were soft, wilted, and the issue that caused the cancellation was that we received a garlic clove that had mold growing on it! The quality of ingredients has gone completely down hill and it’s no longer acceptable considering this isn’t a cheap service. If you had asked me a year ago if I recommend, I would have said yet, but now, heck no!! Do not waste your hard-earned money for crap ingredients and poor customer service.

I immediately changed my mind and did…

I immediately changed my mind and did not think I had completed my order. But when I went back in to check and they had put the order through. I have spent the last 6 hours trying to cancel the subscription. I was on a different seller of these kit and it was immediately apparent. I didn't realize how good the other one was until I tried this one and saw the comparison. I'll probably get stuck with an order because it's the weekend and I also can't find a way of talking to anyone before the order will be officially submitted. I am upset and frustrated.

Meal was delivered to the wrong address…

Meal was delivered to the wrong address TWICE and home chef said that they could only credit my account once and claimed I was getting “free” meals. Still have yet to receive any meals from home chef. Poor customer service, long hold times for no solution.
