I have been using home chef for about 6…

I have been using home chef for about 6 months. It just keeps getting worse and more frustrating. Their latest move is to engage some cracker jack shipping company that has not delivered on time yet. I have email customer service and only get a return email letting me know they recieved my message. They have not bothered to respond. I am now officially canceling as this service is just too unreliable. And frankly, they just don't care. To many others out there who do what they do. I will give them a shot.

Disappointing

We have had three Home Chef deliveries, a generous gift from my brother, who loves this product. Our meals have included "ranch steak", pork chops and pork tenderloin, all three of which were so tough that we had to throw them out. Salmon was fine, as were ground beef entrees. Just nothing special. Good vegetable sides earn this review an extra star (from just one star).
I have contacted Home Chef requesting a refund for the remaining gift balance of nearly $200 since there is no way that my husband will agree to try another delivery. No reply from HC so far. An aside: sodium content in the stratosphere. Buyer beware.

Overall the meals have been really…

Overall the meals have been really great! We've really been enjoying the meals and there's such a wide selection that anyone can find something they like. Their customer service is also exceptional! There was a forgotten item in one meal and they got back to us right away and credited us for the whole meal! They are also the only home boxed meal service I've found that provide a discount to healthcare providers and first responders. So important to have that small acknowledgement.

I had a subscription for a few months

I had a subscription for a few months. Loved the meals. Site was very easy to use and make modifications to what we wanted. They were very easy to make and tasty. Just needed to cancel for now which also was very easy. When I am ready to go back to this type of service I would defiantly come back to Home chef.

Completely unreliable

2 out of my first 3 orders were missing ingredients. The 4th order was supposed to arrive two days ago but still has not been delivered, which Home Chef told me means the food will need to be thrown out once it does arrive. What a horrible waste of food! According to the tracking information, the package arrived in my city the night before it was scheduled to be delivered - yet 3 days later it is still not here! The customer service rep blamed it on COVID, which is just ridiculous. Every other company I order from is able to deliver packages on time, despite the virus.

Unreliable

Subscribed for two months. 25% of orders either have had meals removed (wasn’t charged but informed after meals had shipped), or in latest incident food (containing fish and shellfish)was stuck in transit for extra day. Home Chef is completely unreliable. Look for alternatives. *** Edited*** as I forgot about the recent security breach that I was not notified about and only discovered when on home chef website looking for customer service number. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Hangry in WI

To limit my exposure in grocery stores, I signed up to use Home Chef again. This is week two and yet again my delivery was late. Last week it came two/three days late and I had to throw it out. This week it was supposed to deliver today and it’s still in another state at 9pm. When you expect a meal to be delivered on the date that it says it will, and you don’t get your groceries another way, you are left feeling angry and hungry. Not dependable.

Security Breech

I was also notified of a Security Breech! I wonder how many people that don’t have a notification system are getting their Security Breeched and don’t know about it. I never have ordered and never will, from them. On 12/3 I was notified by Home Chef to call them to straighten this out. I did and all my information was deleted, so they say. However they should have never breeched my security, in the first place.

Security breach- NO notification

Ordered from home chef once about 2 years ago. Yesterday, in 2020, I was notified that they had a security breach. I immediately had to change my email password. I also contacted home chef to delete my information completely from their site. Unacceptable that they did not even bother to notify their past and present customers about this breach. Never going to order from them again.

Nobody’s perfect, but they’re close

Only four stars because nobody is perfect. We actually really enjoy using HC. The user interface is very easy and the selection of meals is tremendous. The food is packaged well and usually arrives on time. Sometimes ingredients are missing or different. Sometimes there’s a recall. However, customer service (most of the time) is already on it with an email and a refund. Overall pleased and will continue to use. You should too. It’s by far the best option.

Poor animal welfare

It’s bad business to ignore customers on the issue of animal welfare. Blue Apron, HelloFresh, and Sun Basket are just a few of the hundreds of companies that have signed onto the Better Chicken Commitment. Meanwhile, Home Chef falls behind.

Love the Fresh and Easy Meals!

Home Chef's Fresh and Easy meals are so delicious. There's so much to choose from, and you can mix and match these family-friendly meals so everyone gets exactly what they want: I can have pad Thai and my husband can have a three-bean ancho chicken chili on the same night, with no actual cooking required. There are plenty of low-calorie options and everything arrives neatly with ice packs all around the meals. It's so easy to pop them in the fridge and then heat them up when you're ready for a fresh, filling meal.

I have been with Homechef for a few…

I have been with Homechef for a few years, never really had an issue with skipping or product. Recently I had skipped meals AND had the follow up email about said skipped meal. I contacted support because Homechef decided to charge me and send the meal regardless. The support person didn’t care that I had the email they send when you skip and basically in customer service condescending tone ... “oh well hope you enjoy your meals”. I did t want the meals, skipped the meals, had the email and she never asked to see it and basically told be tough luck. I cancelled the service. If the confirmation of a skipped meal doesn’t matter I do t want to do any business with a company that operates that way. Beware your email confirmation of a skipped meal means nothing to them... they will charge you and send the meal anyway.

Not gonna try it again.

My wife and I have tried several Home Chef dinners with varying degrees of success. Tonight, however, was simply a failure. We tried the Boneless Pork Chop with Dill Crema and sun-dried tomato feta couscous. It sounded delightful, and the prep was super easy. While the couscous was creative and tasty the pork chop was not fit for consumption. It was tough and flavorless and all you got was the Dill Crema. We will NOT make this a regular on our rotation and it calls into question the whole Home Chef line up. Just not impressed.

I really enjoyed home chefs recipes…

I really enjoyed home chefs recipes easy to cookI'm delicious meals however I think they have a problem with their shipping all the time because every single time we ate it my entire family got a stomach ache I would instead to make sure that the boxes were cold and they seemed cold however us getting sick is a different story. maybe if they used a refrigerated truck for deliveries rather than packing in a bunch of extra ice I don't think it stays up to temperature.

Loyal Home Chef Couple!

My boyfriend and I are huge fans! We both have quite busy schedules but we still prioritize staying active and healthy, and the meals that Home Chef provide fit perfectly into our lifestyle. I personally love that Home Chef has low-carb options, and the meals are delicious. Embarrassingly enough, I did not know how to cook before I started ordering Homechef, but thanks to their simple directions, perfect portions, and high-quality ingredients, I’ve now learned a new skill that’s both useful and rewarding! We are also grateful that Home Chef takes such excellent care of their clients, as they are always quick to answer any questions we have and provide solutions with no hassle whatsoever. my zip code is out of their area for…

my zip code is out of their area for delivery, (88345) New Mexico....guess people don't eat in New Mexico ...really??? Very disappointing since I spent 3 hours comparing Home Chef, Blue Apron, Hello Fresh and when I decided on Home Chef only to be told you don't deliver here.

Very disappointed in customer service

Very disappointed in customer service. Did not receive any email saying account was re-activated and was going to receive a shipment. When I told them it clearly was a mistake they told me I was not eligible for a refund. MIND YOU, I have countless discounts I never used and free boxes to to send to friends. All customer service (Charles) did was say, Sorry, have a good week... All OTHER meal service I have tried, Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, Purple Carrot, Green Chef, etc. They all have bent over backwards in making their customers happy. NOT going to be a customer anymore.
