Fake "Free Trial"

Advertised a free trial where they explicity lied about not charging me until a weeks time. Proceed to charge me £40 immediately. This is ILLEGAL and I had to report them to fraud and block their charge on my account. Someone should investigate this company as they probably making a lot of money from fake free trials! Absolutely a scam.

Avoid - scam

I foolishly provided my credit card details for the 7 day free trial. Having done so, there is no option to cancel during the free trial and I will presumably therefore be charged £69.99 when the trial ends on 11 December.

Clicking "end my free benefits" gives me the option only to proceed with the trial (and be charged at the end of it) or the offer of a discount against the first year - there is no option to cancel at all.

I have contacted my bank...

Too quick for my fingers

The application is simply great and you can get lots of things around it...Too many maybe? So at some point you get confused: promotional advertising and other attractive items will make you click on it and then drive you to billing process. It goes too quick, specially when you already bought something and your card is already known.
In fact, they have been very kind and reimbursed me the amount paid for items that I was not so keen to have them.

nice staff but no classical music available for download?

the staff is really kind and helpful and they do respond very fast.
…but I did join musescore to have access to some classical piano songs by Mozart, Liszt and other long-dead composers. yet their notes are not available for download on musescore. they can only be looked at but not downloaded. I don’t understand why.

So it is the arranger who has the right to copyright their version by buying the rights, registering their composition based on Mozart, Liszt, etc. In this case, this is a completely new composition. I signed up for one year of a…

I signed up for one year of a subscription, but their automatic system only tells you about the next charge after they charged it. There is no reminder given! I was charged another 30 dollars untill they gave the offer with either 45% refund or an extension of my present subscription (that I did not want to pay).

Stay away!

Stay away! Same story -- I thought I was signing up for a 7 day trial and next thing I know I'm being charged 39.99 for a year's subscription. I immediately sent an email to customer support saying in no uncertain terms that I wanted my subscription cancelled and my money refunded. They responded with an "offer" to either refund 25% of my money or extend my subscription by 6 months. I replied saying I did not want a subscription at all and wanted my refund. It's been a week and no response.

Be careful of what you subscribe to!

Be careful of what you subscribe to & the fine print. I clicked on the Free Trial, but somehow i ended up with a charge. Musescore said that i had opted for a different plan (i dont believe i knowingly did) - after a few emails, i did end up with a full refund.

Wide variety of sheet music

I also thought I had signed up for a 7 day trial but was billed $39.99. I emailed the company and also offered small refund or extension after a year.

I am re-learning the piano after 40 years, and I love the choice of all the music to choose from. Also I am interested in their tutorial program if I don’t have to pay extra.

I'd give a minus 5 if I could

I'd give a minus 5 if I could, cancelled auto renew 3 months ago as I realised it was up on the 2nd of December, I made 100% sure it was cancelled and on the 2nd they took 39.99 I immediately contacted them explain the situation and they offer me a 45% refund and extension I explained that I cancelled and did not want it and only refunded me 30 claim 9.99 was for December even though I previously cancelled stay away this very devious ane dishonest company.

I wouldn't trust Musescore as far as you can throw them.

The very low rating speaks for itself. Even more incredible is Musescore's jaw-dropping replies. They see nothing wrong with how they conduct business. It's really no surprise considering that MuseScore relocated its headquarters to Cyprus. Interesting choice. Cyprus is known for its beautiful endless stretches of golden sands, secluded bays and rocky coves. A tourist's delight indeed. It's also known for human and drug trafficking, counterfeit goods, smuggling and favored by Russian oligarchs and other wealthy people and businesses to hide their often ill-gotten assets. Just saying...

Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague. The ‘start free trial’ / ‘try for free’ buttons are a total lie. When I tried to cancel 24 hours later 1) it’s not easy to find out how to cancel and 2) I found I had been billed €39 and they refused to refund me more than 25% of this.

When I threatened action through PayPal they refunded me 30€

This is the sort of service which gives the internet a bad reputation.

No free trial but charged

They offer a free trial but you will charged immediately.

If you send them a mail it can take 7 days before they respond.

Also the headquarters is in Cyprus so I don’t trust them.

But after reading all the other reviews I’m not the only one.

I didn’t manage to cancel my…

I didn’t manage to cancel my subscription and the company charged me for an annual subscription. I emailed them the day that I was charged and they were refusing to give me a full refund despite what it says in their Terms of Service. It was either 10 months off or 25% discount. I slapped them back with their Terms of Servive and never got a reply or refund. Stay away from this fraud and scam of a company.

Like many others who have written…

Like many others who have written reviews here, I signed up for a free trial and my credit card was charged immediately and I was not allowed to cancel. I really don't think all of us were so unaware that we signed up for the wrong thing, which is what Muse Score would have us believe. I received the same 25% off offer, which I have refused. I have American Express investigating them now.

Designed to trick you with "Free trial" offer

Like everyone scammed by this company, I was tricked into signing up for what looked like a free trial.

Within minutes, I realized the service would be completely useless to me and went to cancel the free trial, only to find that I had a charge for $39.99!

I contacted them to cancel, and I received an offer for a 25% refund. Unbelievable! No! I will not pay $30 for something that has zero value to me! Do the right thing and give me my money back!!

Edit: Beware Musescore's replies. It seems like they are trying to make it look like they will give you a refund, but they actually only offer a partial refund. At this point, after wasting a ton of time and effort getting the money back they scammed me out of, they gave me $30 back. This is absolutely unacceptable. I will do whatever it takes to get the rest. Next step is credit card chargeback.

Obviously, these people know they are scammers because they designed their system to make people think they're getting a free trial, then charge them for it. And even if that had been a legitimate mistake, any legitimate company would fix the issue when they see that thousands of people are complaining that they got charged for what they thought was a free trial.

But this is not a legitimate business. It is a scam operation.

Musescore is fraudulent and predatory

Musescore promised me a free trial and immediately charged me almost $70. After reading online, I see that they do this regularly. They have no way of talking to a representative, and make it very difficult to know if I have even cancelled my subscription properly. This is a fraudulent company, and I am exploring legal options.

Good service and support team

Well, I think I encountered the same problem with some users - I forgot to cancel my subscription after a 7-day free trial, and Musescore automatically subscribed for one year. However, upon reaching out to their team via email, they promptly assisted me with two options to reduce my loss, and I chose the Free 10-Month Subscription Extension. They quickly respond to my request, and I greatly appreciate their time and understanding.

Charged extra when cancelling subscription; refunded quickly

I visited the website with the sole purpose of ending my Musescore PRO subscription.
After I had done this - or so I thought - there was a screen suggesting I had taken another subscription.
I clicked "downgrade" twice to correct this.

To my surprise, immediately after that, I received an email and a payment confirmation for € 21,06, and a yearly subscription confirmation. It was not my intention to pay any amount or to take any other subscription.

I sent them an email claiming my money back. They responded very quickly and refunded the money within 2 or 3 days to my credit card.

Initially I gave them 1 star because the whole proceeding on the website was very unclear and looked fishy to me. Since they responded and also returned the money very quickly, I have now upgraded them to 4 stars (1 star missing because the extra subscription and money deduction shouldn't have happened in my opinion).

BEWARE – SCAM - No Free Trial – MONEY TAKEN WITH ONE CLICK!o have written…

As so many others who have written reviews here, I believed I was signing up for a free trial but my credit card was charged immediately and I instead found myself with an ‘upgraded subscription’ to PRO+. I immediately tried to cancel and asked for a refund but was unable to. It is clear from the number of people having the same problem that the fault lies entirely with MuseScore. Instead of refunding my money, MuseScore instead attempted to negotiate and I received the same offer as others - an extra 6 months subscription or 25% off. I accepted neither and sent a second email informing them that I am not interested in either option and expect a full refund (£39.99). Quite aside from believing I was signing up for a free trial, I believe I am due this under my Consumer Rights and the cooling-off period. Plus, their website said you can cancel at any time. I have now been told that £30 will be refunded in the next 10 days! So they’re keeping the remainder!! This is downright stealing and as well as sending a third email demanding the final £9.99, I am asking my credit company to investigate the company for fraud and entrapment. To date, there has been no further response from MuseScore to my latest email.

No Such Thing As A Free Trial - don’t fall for the scam

Signed up for 7 day FREE trial via Apple Store, only to find MuseScore charged me £99.99 for a year subscription! This was not what I signed up for. Subscription renewal immediately cancelled and put in via Apple (because MuseScore do not refund if via Apple Store) for a refund.


This company is a complete scam and con people into thinking they are getting a free trial when you are not. Steer clear of them.
