Scam Company that steal your…

Scam Company that steal your information and delete your accounts without warning or evidence.

Proton mail will continue to only receive terrible reviews from their 'customers'.. wonder why!

Please avoid at all costs. Any positive review are from fake/paid customers.

They will 100% lock your entire inbox…

They will 100% lock your entire inbox if you miss an invoice but offer literally nothing compared to free services like GMAIL. Do not do the same mistake like me (using proton mail) because losing access to all of your registrations is very much a reality with proton.

!Your Proton account is currently suspended. After 28 days, emails will no longer be delivered to your inbox, your Drive sharing links will be blocked, and you will not be able to upload new files. To resume normal service, please pay any overdue invoices."

This is a lie. Your inbox is 100% LOCKED only 7days after the first un-paid invoice.

Useless

Useless. I have paid upfront for a longer period of time due to a deal and I am so sorry I did. What a mistake.

The emails go to people's junk folders so I have to email from my Gmail to say that they should check junk. Utterly useless.

The drive system - you can't share anything other than by a link which makes multiple people accessing documents useless.

The calendars cant be shared...again useless.

Also, the cancellation period is 30 days but I didn't understand most of these issues until after I had been using it for a while. So now they won't refund me.

The only option is to have credits for another subscription. Another subscription to a service thats useless.

Protonmail asks me for a verification…

Protonmail asks me for a verification code every time I try to use it. The code is sent to another email address I have but it seldom shows up in the inbox. It is now unusable.

Can you please clarify if you are referring to using 2FA when logging in your account? Do note that if you are using this feature, the 2FA codes are generated in the authenticator app that you had used to set it up.

Love it

Love it. I feel secure!

Most of the bad reviews are for non-paying customers but I have been a paying customer of the Proton products since 2018.

I use ProtonVPN all the time as well.

Too good to be true

The customer service of this company is extremely slow and poor. You can only contact them through ZenDesk e-mail and the responses are slow if you receive any at all. I will be leaving this service as soon as I can.

Don't ever use this service for time sensitive e-mail.

What a disappointment

What a disappointment. I paid for an expensive annual subscription only to find SEARCHING FOR EMAILS DOESN'T WORK, it takes on average 10 SECONDS TO OPEN AN EMAIL, ARCHIVING IS BROKEN, and emails with EMAILS WITH ATTACHMENTS AREN'T SENT. I submitted support tickets for these issues and can provide evidence in the form of videos and photos.

If perhaps you are referring to the mobile apps, please note that you can use the search option to find a specific email by subject line, sender, recipient, and the time of the message. Unfortunately, while available to paying users on the web client, searching the content of the messages using keywords is not yet available in the mobile apps.

We would also appreciate it if you updated your review with your support request numbers, so that we can track your cases internally.

Horrible (The worst) e-mail provider

My proton mail account and the e-mail which i have been using mainly for a lot of my important stuff has been disabled yesterday out of the blue because apparently I got reported (never done anything illegal with it) btw, but it seems that one report is enough for Proton to disable someones main email and never let them access or view any incoming e-mails or back up older ones. Horrible and disgusting e-mail provider, can't actually believe I recommended them to some of my friends, told them right away to use something that is actually good like Gmail or Mail.com which is my secondary e-mail and works perfect, oh and btw they don't permanently disable your account without notice just from one stupid false-positive report. My case number (1835520).

deleted my email without reason

They deleted my email for no reason.
I wrote to their support mail and never got a reply.
I had work in that mail lost forever.
Absolutely not recommended.

Tried all the recover data possible,nothing has worked

Proton as i cannot reply to your review,will write another one.I have followed all the steps you require to unlock my data and none of them work,spend time to try each one of them and my data is still locked,have activated the famous keys my data is still nicely locked..Never seen this type of ,,protection,, and hopefully never will again,your methods could actually ruin someone's life if they lose important data,maybe change something in the way you are trying to ,,protect,, because you only do worse,and you methods to recover data,not working,well not for me.However,keep in mind and surely you might know,mails can be decrypted by hackers,oh what a method!
Interesting how you do not even bother to answer to the mails you receive but yet you make time to answer to reviews.I opened ticket some weeks a go,and have gotten only an automatic response.The way it goes,my data says: farewell

Have in mind that if you have not generated and saved a recovery phrase or a recovery file while you had access to your account, you will not be able to use these methods for recovering the old data on the account. The recovery phrase and the recovery file do not work retroactively, which means that they will be useful only for recovery attempts after a potential password reset in the future.

Great Product - Terrible Support

The actual app is great but the support is so hostile that I wonder if it is a purposeful policy to discourage customers from 'bothering' them.

If I can find an app with similar privacy features and better support/more features, I'd switch in a heartbeat and pay 2x as much.

The actual email interface is wonderful - clean, well designed and uncluttered compared to Google.

How to turn friends into SPAM: Subscribe to Proton

For the third time, ProtonMail is suddenly routing email from long-time, trusted contacts into SPAM.

I contacted Proton after the first incident about a year ago. They researched message headers etc. but came up with nothing.

Now this fall I've had Proton cause me to totally miss numerous messages from four long-time trusted contacts with no change in their email addresses.

ProtonMail -- Great way to lose friends and annoy people!

Customer Service is a joke

I pay for Protonmail annually, there was a problem with my payment so I paid direct. Despite taking my money they shut me out of my account for non-payment and I have no access to any of my email.
Their customer service fail to respond to any of my questions except asking for a screenshot of the payment - supplied now 5 times and still nothing.
Stay well clear of this company because it would appear they are taking money and providing no service.
The reference was 1781822 for you to investigate further.

Pretty good mail service

Pretty good mail service, been using it for years now, and never had a problem.
A dedicated Family plan is missing in my eyes, apart from expensive special offers for the old Visionary plan.

Well above the rest

I have been using Proton Mail now for almost 5 years, not one issue. Privacy on the internet has never been of much importance to people but it is to me, this is a major step in the right direction. I have a free account, I have a paid account. These people put out great products and I couldn't be more excited for whats in the pipeline.

Very disappointed with Protonmail and…

Very disappointed with Protonmail and regret getting accounts. Had two accounts and have been ousted from both and unable to access.
The writing window to construct emails is also stupidly small (on a regular size laptop). Though mostly the frustration lies with loosing access to two email accounts and all stored information there and important emails.

They block me and I get my logins locked. Freedom they say.

Proton, the company that says "privacy and freedom comes frist" has unilaterally suspended my account without prior notice due to what I can say a small mistake on my side at most. I found myself locked from accessing other sites I signed-up using Proton mail address. Where is the freedom? They put me in a jail.

(No need to say that I totally discourage anyone to open an account or rely on this company, you better move to other providers - do your own research for a privacy vs flexibility tradeoff alternatives)

I lost 2FA and there was no way to…

I lost 2FA and there was no way to recover my account. I sent support all documentation to verify my account and never regained access. I spent an entire week emailing their support and only got legitimate interest in support when I disputed the charge to renew an account I couldn’t access. The email platform is decent. I would consider their support garbage. Having spent hours trying to recover my account and hours changing all my accounts I do not recommend their service.

I'm very satisfied with protonmail/VPN/Calendar/Storage. I've been using it daily since it was launched. Security & Privacy feels like something they prioritize highly. So in my opinion it's a service worth paying for. I love it !

poor customer service

Proton proved very difficult to work for me..So i cancelled my account 3 months ago. And they continue to charge my credit card...Haven't een able to find a way to communicate w their service dept if one truly exists...Now i will be forced to cancel that card ...and renew w all other Valid sites...a giant pain in my a..! Dont purchase this system!
