Not even one star-they are a fraud!

Not even one star. Booked 6 passes, then bought the “Travel Protection Plan” which promised a refund no questions asked the first time. (Additional $138.00) if canceled.
Then my 77 year old husband was suddenly hospitalized with a serious condition 4 days prior to our trip start date. He was released a week later, 3 days before Christmas, immediately after the holiday we contacted Rail Europe to cancel. This was still several days before our trip would have ended had we gone, 3 days we could have still used the passes. They said the passes had to be sent back by traceable mail. Ok, did that, another $38.00 out. Then I get an email stating that the passes had to be returned 3 days prior to our trip start date (we were in the hospital), so I could use their rejection to file any other travel insurance we might have. I am livid. They are a total fraud! DO NOT BOOK WITH RAIL EUROPE!

I do not recommend this company

I purchased their train passes and then saw all these bad reviews and wanted to go with a different company. Thankfully I had purchased the protection plan so I knew I could get my money back. Wrong. They are not giving me my money back. I was on hold on the phone for over an hour and then they shut it off. And finally they responded to my email saying that they would give me 78% of my money. But that is over a hundred dollars in loss which I can't afford to lose on a budget trip! The protection plan promised a full refund. So very disappointed!

Booked and reserved seats

Booked, reserved seats and paid online. Departure from Salzburg connecting at Vienna enroute to Budapest delayed by almost 2 hours. Ticket office recommended to get on the next direct train to Budapest to avoid missing the connecting train at Vienna which resulted us sitting on the floor of an over crowded train.

This place is a rip off

This place is a rip off! I bought my tickets for Paris to Lille today for a trip in December and realized within an hour that I booked them a week early!! So I contacted the company regarding the issue via their chat system (SINCE THEY DO NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER) and was told that because of the type of ticket I bought, which was the early bought ticket, they cannot be exchanged or refunded!!!! I seriously only needed them moved up a week! I would have paid whatever difference it made but no! She said that the rail insurance would have taken care of it!! The cost of it was the cost of the first class tickets I bought!!! are you kidding me!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! THEY PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR THE FIRST SPOT ON GOOGLE SEARCH WITH MY MONEY THAT THEY RIPPED OFF!!!!!

WORST COMPANY EVER

WORST COMPANY EVER

I received an email from RailEurope about strikes on the date of our commuting from Amsterdam to Paris. We had nice first class train tickets. They advised us to cancel the ticket and not travel on those dates.

I emailed the company through their website that we want to cancel the ticket according to their advice.

On the train station in Paris we asked how to arrange the cancellation besides the email. They couldn’t help us with this.

Instead of the 3 hour first class train ride we took an 8 hour bus ride instead. (same time as the train ticket we had)

I have been emailing back and forward with RailEurope for over 3 months and just received an email that our cancelation request is rejected and we won’t get our money back as our e-tickets aren’t stamped as unused.

How is is possible that such a big company is sending out emails telling their clients to cancel their tickets but refused to give money back.

Big Scammers!

Big Scammers!
I thought I was being routed to RENFE (Spanish national train service) BUT IT TURNED OUT THAT THIS OUTFIT OPERATES OUT OF MUMBAI AND THEY ARE JUST VIRTUAL SCAMMERS. I TRIED TO OBTAIN A REFUND ON MY 180 EURO PURCHASE BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM.

Total rip-off - you should always seek out the country's national rail booking site

Total rip-off - you should always seek out the country's national rail booking site.

This site charges MORE THAN DOUBLE the fare charged by national train booking sites (e.g. Prague to Vienna €74 on rail-europe v €34 on Czech trains site). It's a non-service and total rip-off, cynically taking advantage of travellers who might feel nervous about navigating train services across different countries.

Almost all national rail websites offer English language versions. If they don't you can just translate in browser. To find the national rail sites, just Google "Spain trains", "Czech trains" etc and IGNORE the paid (ad) results.

The best way to travel by train

So helpful and the tickets came in time even though we booked it way to late, because they send it with express.. The train left the first station way to late but it arrived on the exact time! So great only positive feelings about raileurope!
