Great customer support

I started with the Remarkable 1. A great writing tablet and I still use it (circa 6 years later) when out and about. I bought the Rem Pro nearly 2 years ago and love it. Bigger writing space and backlight (also colour). Remarkable are good and moving forward with upgrades (eg. handwriting searches now available).
I recently had some issues with the Pro (thinking it might be resolved in future software updates I put up with it for several months, no major issue just some intermittent ghosting). I contacted them just to ask if it was feasible that this might be resolved in a future update. On a Sunday (bank holiday weekend) I received a response asking me to try a few things. These did not resolve it. That was it, return it and I would get a replacement. 3 days after sending it I received a new one.
So in my opinion they are absolutely on the ball when it comes to customer satisfaction. Nearly 2 years after purchase. They are Remarkable not just in name.

ReMarkable Charging Customers to Submit Repair Claims

We have reMarkable tablets for all of our office personnel. Most of them work as advertised, but a few have chronic issues with the screens (ghosting).

When contacting customer service, they asked me to take a video of the problem (which seemed fair). They could not give me a return/repair authorization without it.

Here's the rub...to upload the video, you must purchase a subcription to the upload service for $24 per month! Essentially, reMarkable is charging customers to submit repair claims. When I pushed back, they sent me to another site that PROTECTED my video upload - you guessed it, for ANOTHER $24 per month!!! On top of that, I'm sure that getting out of that montly cost is almost impossible.

I like the product, when it works. However, a system set up to discourage customers from getting repairs done (or receiving any meaningful technical help) is very bad pratice. Sadly, we will not be purchasing any more reMarkables.

The Supervisor Paige made everything…

The Supervisor Paige made everything right. My new Pro device had some 'ghosting' and was within warranty. They promptly sent me new device with contingency that i return old device asap. They did and I did. Seamless and basically effortless. This is my kind of company to do business with.

Terrible to manage in a company environment

ReMarkable for Desktop is an absolute nightmare to manage in a corporate IT setup. The software constantly requires administrator privileges for every update or installation, which makes it completely unmanageable in an Intune or MDM-controlled environment. On top of that, it refuses to connect unless you’re running the very latest version, which breaks any sense of stability.

The Best Paper-Like Tablet for Students

I’ve been using the reMarkable Paper Pro for four weeks now, and it has quickly become essential for my schoolwork. Despite the high initial cost, the benefits for a student workflow are clear. The performance is solid, and I only have to charge it once every five days—though this is mainly because I keep the reading light on the minimum setting (for daily use, the minimum brightness is more than enough to work comfortably). That is still a huge advantage over a standard tablet.
The writing feel is extremely comfortable (it's in a different league than a standard tablet), and the Marker with the built-in eraser makes editing notes so much easier during fast-paced lectures. The colors are also more than sufficient for all my highlighting and editing my notes.
As a student, I’m constantly moving PDFs and lecture slides back and forth. Using the reMarkable desktop and mobile apps, I can drop a file on my computer and it appears on my tablet almost instantly. It makes staying organized effortless.
One thing to note for new users: while you can transfer files via cable from a computer, I discovered that the cable connection doesn't work for transfers directly from a phone—you’ll need to use the app for that.
The cover is also a nice touch—the red color is just the cherry on top!
While I appreciate that the Czech language is supported for handwriting-to-text conversion, I hope that in a future update will be support for the Czech language on the keyboards, both for the on-screen display and the Type Folio.

Great product overall!

Great product overall!
It does take some time to get used to, but it's worth the effort!
I would give 5/5 stars IF there wasn't a 'premium' subscription for a premium product that I have already paid a lot of money for. I would expect some of the paid features to be included by default.

This device is not at all business ready.

The absolute embodiment of "Fix it in post". This company/business by far is the worst I have ever dealt with.

The device itself is fine, it's the software. This tablet is supposed to be mine! It doesn't feel like it's mine! Why is it necessary for me to need to link a account!? Total Microsoft behavior and I hate it!

Great Tech Support & Request for 80% Max Batter Charge Feature

The technician I spoke with was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The best part of the experience was being able to resolve my issue at 8:45 PM on a weeknight, right after getting home from a long day at the office.

Additionally, I would like to submit a feature request for a future reMarkable software update: a battery saver mode that automatically stops charging when the device reaches 80%. This would be a fantastic addition to help extend the long-term health of the battery.

Thank you,
Victor F.

I had problems with my reMarkable Pro with ghosting.

I had problems with my reMarkable Pro Plus device with ghosting. I use it for sheet music. Every time I turn a page there was ghosting from the previous pages.
I wrote a mail to the reMarkable support. After I send them a short video to demonstrate the problem, they decided to replace my device.
Only a few days later I received a new reMarkable Pro Plus. After a short test I could see that's no ghosting happened.
It was a great experience to work with the reMarkable support.

What not to expect?

What not to expect? Text and notes
typed text is fixed, so you cannot move freely. (the written one is fine).
if you want to take notes from a pdf , your options are:
1. write on the page in the pdf.
2. add a new page within the pdf, where you can write about the previous or next page...whatever you want.
3. or close the document, create a notebook (separate from your pdf), and write your notes there, then close the notebook, open the pdf and so on.
4. buy a second one to take notes more comfortably=)))

Seems like they focus more on the ecosystem, so to keep milking your wallet, than just listening to the customers.
At least be a happy cow, and spend your money elsewhere. As a sad cow, I can say...there are plenty of alternatives.

If you look for positive things...
1. The device looks different
2. The device doesn't alter your writing, so if you want to draw something quick, you can. ( do not rely on it as a drawing tablet)
3. IMO the eink screen quality is great.
4. Syncs easily
5. The web platform is intuitive.
6. For the coders, there is also a developer mode. Just be aware that you can brick and and it is totally your fault for wanting features and implementing them.
7. Comes with multiple pen tips, so, you have plenty before you have to buy.
8. Their customer service is (from what I've heard), quite responsive and a lot of people got fixes to the issue at hand.

Note to reMarkable: Once the note taking part is redesigned, this review will be changed. Until then, it will keep pointing at the issue.
However, a recent ama on reddit revealed their plans:

Coming Soon

Some sort of calendar integration for Google and Microsoft.

Adding images to notebooks. They provided a preview image.

Improvements to ePub reading (but not a native ePub reader), later this year.

New integrations with (unspecified) third-party services.

Screen sharing in the new web app.

Coming Eventually (No Timeline)

They'd like to provide an API for third-party integrations, and they're working toward that.

They'd like to support Bluetooth keyboards for the RMPP and RMPPM. They're also considering Bluetooth for energy efficient syncing.

Editing in the new web app.

Desktop apps that are offline versions of the new web app.

Maybe One Day (Noncommittal)

Links between documents and parts of documents.

Split screen and fast document switching.

More pens.

Integration with ebook ecosystems.

New B&W devices.

Notes are impossible to export

It’s fine for writing notes on the device, but the moment you try to get your own files off it, the experience becomes a complete mess.

The website does not permit downloading your files. The desktop app is fully broken. The device does not work like a normal USB drive. Instead, they force you into a clumsy export process through a hidden setting and a local web interface, and even that failed for me. All my notes are currently held hostage; there is no way to offload them. I've been forced to literally take a photo of my reMarkable's screen in order to use my notes elsewhere.

A product like this should make it easy to access your own documents. reMarkable does the opposite. Writing on it is fine. Everything after that is badly designed, frustrating, and unreliable.

I regret buying it.

Be very cautious, as billing issues are not handled reliably.

My company gifted me a reMarkable device for Christmas, and I signed up for the free trial of their subscription. The company states that a notification will be sent before renewal, but I never received one. I only discovered the charge after it appeared on my credit card.
I immediately contacted customer support to cancel and request a refund. I was told the subscription had been canceled and that a refund would be issued. Months passed and no refund was received. When I contacted support again today, I was told that the subscription had never actually been canceled or refunded by their staff at the time of my original request.
They now claim it has been handled, but based on this experience, I have little confidence and expect I may need to pursue a chargeback. This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. Be very cautious, as billing issues are not handled reliably.

Update:
They refunded a prorated amount even though I reached out immediately and THEY failed to cancel and refund as I requested. Terrible customer service.

Disappointed in the steep price hike

I’ve enjoyed using reMarkable for my studies, but the recent $10 price increase feels excessive. For a student, this isn’t just a small adjustment; it’s a significant barrier. It’s frustrating to see a tool that is so helpful for education become so much less affordable overnight. I really hope the company looks into more sustainable pricing for those in academia.

Greedy and unacceptable subscription increases (33%)

The device is fine but they have increased subscription fees by 33% with no noticeable improvement in functionality. This is a greedy and unacceptable fee increase on top of a very expensive device so avoid using this product. Use a pencil on a tablet instead or a paper notepad.

Disappointed

Disappointed! Bought a couple of months ago and whilst it's functionally great, it keeps losing my work. I'll write in a notebook and the page will randomly disappear. You can still see the writing is there on the small page view but no way to get the writing back so have to restart. This has just happened once, its a persistent error.

If zero stars were possible I'd do it

If zero stars were possible, I would choose that.
My tablet suddenly stopped working without any damage or misuse. I had been paying for Remarkable’s warranty for exactly this situation, yet when I submitted a claim, I was told it wouldn’t be covered.
Their customer service has been unhelpful, dismissive, and ultimately provided no resolution. I’ve essentially paid for a warranty that offers no real protection.

A wonderful and honest company

A wonderful and honest company. I bought a refurbished notepad which saved me almost half spent. But I was reassured that I could still return after 50 days. I will come back to but the smaller notepad in the future. The online service is good and quick whenever I have needed help.
