Remarkable lost all my work then abandoned me knowing I had life threatening health condition

70-Year-old Grandfather with serious health problems loses all his notes on his 2 week old Remarkable Paper Pro Tablet; then finds that customer service is unable to help despite multiple online chat sessions over 4 days and yet then, somehow also refused his pleas, given his health issues, for just one phone call to try to fix these serious ongoing and unresolved problems. He comments that based on his experience, “they charge a premium price for the tablet ($1,000) which is a piece of junk as is their poor software, but then their cut-price customer service is a bigger joke. They are clearly overwhelmed and unable to handle the large numbers of people with similar problems". In fact, I ended up using AI for over 20 hours to try to help me get my lost work back (unsuccessfully)  but  learned  along the way from AI that there are now many people around the world with similar problems. I now believe that a large number of the positive reviews are probably paid for and overall, the whole Remarkable experience is a remarkable con job or fraud. I so wished that I’d never bought one and then had to go through this experience and now I’ve lost all my work and am so upset that I don’t think I’ll be able to redo it. The tablet cost me $1,000 three weeks ago and then instead of saving me time, I've now wasted over 40 hours trying to get my lost work back.”!

So, after reaching out to Remarkable customer service at the end of October, here we are now in mid November and I still don't have my lost work back!
Eventually I received an email saying they think that they can identify when it disappeared and that they can probably get it it back, but so far NOTHING.... Believe it or not, I received another email explaining that they are "a young team" still learning how to help (the large numbers of) customers who have lost their work!!!
This is literally the worst experience of my 70 years and on reflection cannot believe that I have now wasted SO MUCH time on Remarkable which I bought thinking it would save me time. What an idiot I've been....!

Faulty product

I ordered a Refurbished Product thinking they actually check whether it works. Received a faulty marker plus, now I am going to have to wait approximately an other 10 days to receive a replacement. Great product when it actually works that's why I am giving 2 and not 1 stars. But disappointed right now and the shipping time is way to long. Prob. should have just gotten an IPad and saved myself the trouble.

Failed to pair

Brand new, out of Box, Remarkable Paper Pro would not pair to the Remarkable account. Tried support as well. Have lost confidence and I am myself a technical support person so I should be able to figure it out, right! Its going back.

Don't bother wasting your money, get a tablet instead

So I got myself a Remarkable 2, all seemed well but it was a massive decision as it cost over £400! I purchased the monthly cover and carry it to and from work with my laptop in a rucksack. Less than 6 months in the screen has what support tell me is an 'internal crack' and thats apparently not covered by the monthly cover. I've now been given the option of pay over £100 to replace it...so thats over £500! and whats to say it won't just happen again and again. I simply don't trust the product. If you really want an electronic note device, at this rate, buy a Samsung or Apple device for that little bit more. If you don't fancy an electronic device consider how many notepads and pens you can get for £500.

Great product

Great product - I returned it because I’m not that techy and found I wasn’t really using it. Wanted to leave a 5 star review as the returns process was simple and I received my money back instantly - I would guess I’d had it for 3-4 weeks.
Thank you remarkable 👍

The product is abThe product itself is incredible — but the replacement process is a nightmare.solutely amazing but…

I was gifted this device and absolutely loved it… until it suddenly stopped working just a few days in. It won’t turn on at all. We followed customer service’s instructions to charge it continuously for 4–12 hours, but nothing changed.

While the support reps were kind and genuinely tried to help, the system they work with is the real problem. The return process has been slow, confusing, and frustrating. We were told to ship the device all the way back to Hong Kong SAR, China — and after more than a week, we still haven’t received an update. Apparently, the distribution team doesn’t work weekends, so progress just stalls.

For the premium price of this product, the replacement process falls way short. There are far too many “we don’t knows,” and it’s been a draining experience waiting for a fix to something that shouldn’t have failed so soon.

Paid for Remarkable Pro bundle, got a usb cable…

Ordered and paid for the remarkable pro bundle with folio directly from remarkable. Got my confirmation and tracking. All seemed well until the package arrived. Thin envelope mailer with just a usb cable in it. Too small to ever had held my full order. I Immediately notified remarkable with photo of mailer and contents. They confirmed my order, and delivery of the tiny package. They then said their fulfillment partner was closed and would investigate next week…
A week later and remarkable is still claiming that they are reaching out to their fulfillment to investigate.
Between the tracking number with details of small package & package photos, it is clear their fulfillment partner screwed up. But remarkable is putting the burden of this on their customer. No resolution to their failure. Just emails saying they will investigate.
Appears they are more interested in bickering with their partners then fulfilling an order obligation.

remarkable - JUST DON'T BUY IT!!' - SPEND A LITTLE MORE AND JUST GET AN IPAD.

So reMarkable says they have sold over 2 million units in the U.K.
There is a good reason for this. It's because their average unit life is 2-3 years. Notice how their warranty is only for 2years? Why do you think?
I've had my r2 for 3 years, and all of a sudden it just crashed on me. Tried everything, and there was no going back. So, like all intelligent people, I contacted their support. I won't get in to the frustration of their same, almost AI-based answers, but the short story was that, 1) They do not offer any repair as it is outside of the warranty - I understand. But get this, they don't even offer a paid repair option. The only option is, is to buy another unit - HAHAHAHAHA! Now you see why they have sold so many units. Because once you have it, you are stuck. You either lose everything you have used it for, or you buy a new unit.
What type of company doesn't offer its customers a repair option?
Conclusion: better to buy an iPad. Yes, it's more expensive but Apple offers superior customer support and service, and having been an Apple user for over 25years, what I know is that I will not be let down as I have been by remarkable.
If anybody from reMarkable reads this, please don't message me to ask me what the issue is and that you are going to try and resolve it, because your team has made it abundantly clear that I either buy a new unit or take the highway.

slow and ghosting screen

I've had mine for just over one years now and, although the charge and battery life seem okay, what I've really noticed is that the screen has started to ghost — meaning previous pages or text don’t fully clear when you move onto a new screen. You end up with a faint print still visible, and you have to wait for it to disappear, which can be quite frustrating. It’s also become noticeably slower over time, and this has got worse quite recently.

I know there was a recent software update, but whatever they've changed in the coding seems to have made things worse, not better. For a device that costs around £400 and is essentially just for note-taking, I honestly wish I’d bought an iPad and a stylus instead — at least that would have offered far more functionality and would probably still be working properly.

Would I recommend buying one? Genuinely, I wouldn’t. I even contacted their customer service team, and they told me this issue is “standard” and “nothing unusual.” Personally, if you’re spending that kind of money, you’d expect it to still perform well after a year or two. Devices like iPads last far longer — and I think that’s down to the superior software.

My advice would be to really consider the reviews and the cost before you buy. I’m not sure if there’s a better alternative out there, but when this one eventually gives up (which I don’t think will be too long), I’ll definitely be switching over to an iPad.

Broken in less than a year

Broken in less than a year. I bought the most expensive remarkable, I always carry it with my Mac. In less than a year the internal screen broke (apparently I'm not the only one). They refuse to replace it, apparently its my fault... It never fell. It was just in my bag.

Replacement rechargeslot not easy and expensive

The product is great but when it comes to replacing parts it costs you a lot of money because it is a heck of a lot of work and there is not really an official repairshop.
I had to pay €140,- to replace a simple part like a rechargeslot but to get there is not easy… To me the best designs are not only how they look but also how parts can be replaced easily

SCAM ALERT: Device failed in 20 Days, 3mos waiting for replacement

I purchased the reMarkable Paper Pro hoping for a premium experience, but the reality has been an unbelievable disaster.

❌ PRODUCT FAILURE & WARRANTY FRAUD
My device failed after just 20 days of use. The screen spontaneously broke ("burned out" or "cracked") while charging in my backpack's laptop sleeve, secured in its original reMarkable case. There was no drop, no pressure, and the failure was clearly due to a manufacturing or design defect.

❌ INTERNATIONAL NIGHTMARE
Since the failure, I have been waiting for a replacement for over three months. Because I reside in Brazil, I was forced to ship the faulty device back via UPS using my own money, only to be met with constant delays and incompetence.

The representative managing my case has provided nothing but passive-aggressive excuses, continually claiming the issue is "being resolved" while offering ZERO confirmation of a shipping date.

I have spent three months exchanging emails and cannot use the device I paid a premium price for.

⚠️ DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
This company does not stand by its product, especially for international customers. The true cost of the reMarkable is not the purchase price, but the frustration, extra shipping fees, and time lost when it inevitably breaks.

Avoid this brand. The poor service renders the entire product line worthless.

Great for meeting notes

I've used my Remarkable 2 now for more than a year everyday at work to take notes during meetings. I find it so easy to use and so much better than paper.

I will typically create a notebook per day and a page per meeting. When taking notes the ease of erasing or moving content on the canvass, is something you can't do on paper but is incredibly useful. Personally I don't try and synch the content. I just use it as if it were a piece of paper, albeit one with an infinite canvass.

When I first got it I wasn't sure if I'd really find it valuable. But actually now I wouldn't be without it. I curse myself of the rare occasion I forgot to pack the digital pen. Talking of which I recommend buying a Staedler digital pen. It's a bit thinner that the Remarkable one and looks way better.
