The Yacht Week Croatia is indeed a great trip: well-organised, with impressive staff, outgoing and open fellow travellers and a desirable party atmosphere. It is however worth noting that these things that make it good - the beautiful coastal locations and parties in them with friendly young travellers - are to be found cheaper and in far more luxury by simply backpacking/flashpacking Southeast Asia, which it was clear most of the attendees had not done (hence their overly high ratings of TYW). With the exception of the tunnel and circle raft parties, which offered an unmatched vibe (but were too short); the parties were usually not well-designed to maximise mingling between boats due to being in loud clubs and not attended until after midnight (you must like strobe lights). Looking at the Instagram account, most of the photos are of the circle and tunnel raft parties, making it look like that’s what you’ll be doing all week. They were definitely awesome, but people should be aware that in Croatia one was only two hours long and the other three. Contrast this with the twice-a-week six-hour boat party on Gili T, or the daily five-hour boat parties on Koh Phi Phi and Boracay. Ultimately I would hesitate to repeat this trip when I could simply return to Thailand or Gili Trawangan, stay in luxury, eat cheap and delicious food 24/7 and party with similar people on boats and beaches every day. However the latter requires some organisation and planning by you (e.g knowing which parties to attend and where to meet people), whereas the Yacht Week is better for someone who wants the whole thing completely organised for them.
