Used to be good but not any more.

Our 3 cats all loved the turkey and rice adult dry food but since the recipe changed, not any longer. Everything has gone downhill with James Welbeloved since the website overhaul, with the food never being in stock any more and nothing seems to work like it used to subscription wise. It's almost like it's been taken over by another company with no experience of pet food. Look at the recent reviews, nearly all bad. I've had to find a new sensitive food but it has worked out well as it's cheaper.

The warnings are true!

I have always fed my pets JWB as a trusted brand with great results in both my cats and dogs. However my collie who has had it since a puppy has now reacted very badly to the change in recipe, having terrible diarrhoea for days. I didn’t want to believe the online ‘scare mongers’ but unfortunately all the recent warnings and criticism now appears true in my usually young, fit and non temperamental collie.
Will NOT be using it again. VERY disappointed.

Have Siamese cat as a new addition and…

Have Siamese cat as a new addition and came with an introduction card offering a free bag of dry food. They definitely got the request because il receiving emails bot one week later and no sample. Sent two emails for help, no answer. Tried their direct telephone number 10 times and never get through. Just asks me to leave a message. For a company of Mat’s status this is terrible service. How not to run a company.

Recipe and brand ruined unfortunately

I've been feeding my kitty James Wellbeloved for over 9 years, and he's always been so happy with it, no issues at all. The look and smell of the food used to be amazing: light in colour, with a slight sheen of oil and a lovely aroma (even to me).

Now it looks dull, dry, and has unpleasant smell. I'm currently trying to stock up on older batches from Amazon just to make a gradual transition to something new. It's such a shame.

Cats like mine have extremely sensitive stomachs, and it took me ages to find something that worked for him. It feels unfair to suddenly change a formula that so many pets rely on.

Disappointed

Very disappointed with the latest purchase of James Wellbeloved turkey dry senior cat food. I have been feeding my 12 year old cat this for years and now he won’t touch the new bag that cost me £17.49 from Pets at Home, apparently not only has the packaging changed, the recipe has also. So goodbye to James Wellbeloved and now looking for new brand of cat food.
EDIT: Just to say after a couple of weeks persevering Seb is not eating James Wellbeloved again!

At James Wellbeloved, we’re committed to developing delicious products and want to make sure that the packaging for those products is as environmentally friendly as possible.

We want to care for nature and are proud to say that our smaller bags of 1.5kg and 2kg are now made with single plastic material meaning they can be recycled. Whilst our larger bags are not currently recyclable we have been able to manufacture our 15kg bags to use 34% less packaging than before and already our dry factory based in Castle Cary is using 100% renewable energy.

My cats refuse to eat this food …

We have two adult cats and following reading a review of how little meat is in high street cat food brands, I splashed out on 40 pouches of your cat food. It has been nothing short of a disaster - neither cat will touch it! They sniff it and walk away. I have tried mixing it with their previous cat food, same effect. Clean bowls, same effect. They WILL NOT eat it. I don’t understand how this is possible and am really disappointed to have wasted so much money.

Very upset & disappointed…

My elderly cat will only eat dry kibble but last year he needed six teeth extracting. The James Wellbeloved Adult Fish was excellent for him, perfect because the kibble was very small & easy for him to eat despite the dental extractions.
I’m now very upset as James Wellbeloved have changed the kibble size on this product to a larger one that my poor cat is really struggling with. I’ve spoken to the customer service team about my disappointment & told my complaint will be logged. I urge other customers to call them too to complain if they are also unhappy with the product changes. I’m now desperately phoning & emailing any shops to see if I can obtain some bags of the “old” product.

New recipe is terrible

New recipe is terrible! I’ve been buying James Wellbeloved cat dry food for years, but sadly they’ve recently changed both the recipe and the shape of the kibble. The new formula is terrible - why compromise on quality to cut costs when it means losing loyal customers? My cat won’t touch it now, and I won’t be buying it again.

really poor delivery service.

I have never received my latest order even though you have claimed by email that it has been delivered. last month my order was delivered to the wrong address and this month not at all. this is not a good service and I am requesting either I receive the order I have now paid for or a refund. due to the poor service I have now decided to purchase the cat food for our cats from elsewhere. I can't rely on the order arriving in time especially like this particular occasion where I have had to purchase cat food from elsewhere otherwise our cats would not have any food over Christmas.

My cat enjoys the dry food but not the wet…

I bought wet and dry cat food because my cat has started showing signs of food allergies
I followed the changing food in fifths rule to ease her into the new wet food but she kept ignoring the meat pieces and when offered a choice between old and new flatly refused the James Wellbeloved eating only her old food which promptly made her sick
On a positive note she adored the dry food so now I just feed her that
The food I ordered was packaged well and arrived quickly

£17 for a bag of cat food!

I purchased a bag of dry cat food (kibbles) which was nearly £17! which is well over priced! As they don't offer smaller portions for your cat to try and if your cat doesn't like it, then you've wasted £17 which is what happened in my case. I complained to the company that they are charging too much and should supply taster portions, but they don't seem to care and I also thought that this was a British company, but they're actually Albanian!

Change if packaging have they changed ingredients?

IV bought JWB for years having found it to be the only brand my two cats love! However since the change of packaging one of my cats who never has issues has been suffering with diarrhea and vomiting. IV made no other changes to there diet and there indoor cats so I know what their eating. They usually eat every last one but have starting leaving some behind. They state that the recipe hasn't changed however after much research I found that they have changed the dog food formula on changing the packaging so likely the same with the cat food. Looks like I'll have to find something else..

As we are a hypoallergenic brand we always use a fixed formula in our diets. It means that the ingredients don't vary from one batch to the next and all of them are listed on the pack. Our dog and cat foods are all hypoallergenic. It's really important that you can expect the food bought today to be the same as it was last time. It avoids the risk of any tummy upset which might happen if the recipe changed. Poor courier service meant cancellation

I regularly buy James Wellbeloved food for my cat and dogs. I chose to order online direct from James Wellbeloved but on two occasions food was not delivered as the courier said I wasn't in (when I was). I have had to cancel the order now. I have now bought the food elsewhere. James Wellbeloved did offer to send it out again but after two times of staying in and being told that I wasn't in - I had had enough. Other couriers delivered without an issue all week.

Fussy felines

I am always looking for something new and tasty for my two elderly sister cats and had high hopes for the salmon in gravy but both my cats turned their pussy cat noses up at it after one sniff and walked out of the kitchen in a huff! They are very fussy but it was disappointing.

We would normally advise to gradually increase the food over a longer period. Wet patches on JWB cat grain free Turkey biscuits

I am having trouble with JWB grain free Turkey biscuits. Sometimes i can buy a bag and it stays dry but often, after a short time of opening, moisture appears on many of the small biscuits and my cat goes off them. We all know that moisture like this can cause mould, which is dangerous and my cat's not been well. Very disappointed as I've been buying these for 3 years with little trouble until recently. The RSPCA recommended I keep my cat on them when I got him from them so not sure what else to try!

Excellent delivery service

Excellent delivery service. Fast and efficient. My cat really likes the Lamb with gravy sachets for Adult cats. Unfortunately she's 12 years old and is really in the Senior category. But there wasn't a gravy option for her in her category, and she won't eat the chicken in jelly.

One of the few manufacturers selling…

Were once one of the few manufacturers selling single protein lamb cat food but discontinued it without any warning.
I appreciate the principle of business that it has to be viable commercially to produce but no warning whatsoever about no longer producing.
My cat has an allergy to chicken and fish which is in every cat food possible and have only found N&D lamb biscuits going forward.

Update: thanks for the unhelpful advice. Some advance warning of discontinuing the product would have been helpful.

Gives our kitty D&V since rebrand

We have bought JWB for years for our cars, with it being one of the only brand ms that my cats love. since the change of packaging my cat who never has any digestive issues has been suffering with severe diahorrea and vomiting. We have made no other changes to her diet and she is an indoor cat, so we know know that she hasn’t been supplementing her food. She’s usually a cat who eats every last biscuit, but has started leaving some behind in the bowl. When the bag was changed, JWB stated it was only a packing change and there was no alterations to the recipe. However, did some digging and have found so many families in the same position as us - where pets have suddenly developed digestive issues when eating this food, which is cured when swapped onto an alternative brand. We’ve also found that JWB have changed the dog food formula when changing the packaging, so possibly the same with their cat food. Frustrating that JWB are continuing to insist that there has been no change to their ingredients despite many reviews indicating an issue since their rebrand. We won’t be buying anymore.
