We are yet to travel, however I had needed dates for our upcoming travel adjusted. I had emailed at 830pm and had updated itineraries same night by 930pm. Customer Service was really amazing.

Outstanding Care When It Mattered Most

We unfortunately had to make a claim after our son fell terribly ill while overseas. Having heard countless horror stories about travel insurance claims, I was prepared for the worst. But I was completely blown away by the level of service we received from WAS Insurance.

From the moment we contacted them, the support was exceptional. While we were still in hospital, their medical team provided helpful advice and checked in with us daily—always asking how our son was doing. They treated him like a person, not just another case number.

Once we returned home, the claims process was straightforward and stress-free. Every interaction reflected compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. What was an incredibly frightening experience for our family was made that little bit easier thanks to the knowledgeable and empathetic staff.

Thankfully, our son is now okay. But I will never forget how supported we felt throughout the ordeal. I am forever grateful and cannot recommend WAS Insurance highly enough. Getting travel insurance is essential—but getting it from a company that truly cares is invaluable. WAS Insurance delivers both. Outstanding.

Grade A care and guidance

It's a truism that you don't really know how good an insurance company is until you need them. On this trip, I fell seriously ill, requiring nearly a week of hospitalisation. The insurer took care of everything, remained in contact throughout, provided clarification and advice around the multitude of tests and followups I needed. I could not recommend WAS enough, based on this experience and will certainly be using them exclusively moving forward (this was the 3rd time I have purchased WAS insurance but the 1st time I have needed to use it). I even received correspondence when I got back home to make sure I had returned safely, and to ensure I had the information I needed in case I required further assistance. During a troubling time, WAS were there for me, making sure I felt thoroughly supported and could concentrate on my recovery.

Excellent customer service

Just returned from our trip to Koh Samui Thailand where I had a fall which required hospital attention. Hospital was excellent very thorough and efficient. Travel insurance was very easy to negotiate they confirmed claim within a few hours of submitting claim and confirmed acceptance of claim within two days with money in our bank account. Will definitely be using them again.

Initially when I purchased my policy in…April 2025

Initially when I purchased my policy in April 2025 for Travel in August 2025 everything went smoothly. We have since added a side trip of 4 days in Spain which they tell me will cost an extra $250. Since they are not covering me in the UK during those 4 days I’m at a loss to understand how it can be that much extra. I then enquired whether it would be better to cancel the policy I purchased & repurchase a new one which would include Spain. I was told yes I could but that they would charge me $220 to cancel it ( when I’m still two months out for commencing my trip & haven’t gone anywhere for them to cover me). Then purchase the new policy which would only be marginally more.
I’ve decided to keep my original policy and then while in the United Kingdom purchase travel insurance for 4 days in Spain which I’m certain would be considerably less than WAS insurance’s options.
I’m afraid I won’t be rushing to use you again anytime soon with tactics like this & can only hope that if I did have to claim then their sneaky little terms & conditions wouldn’t be as insidious.

One thing we wanted to gently flag: Australian travel insurance needs to be purchased before you leave the country. Buying a policy from the UK – even for a short side trip – often won’t provide lawful cover, particularly for medical care or repatriation to Australia. We just wanted to mention that in case it affects your planning.

Regarding your current policy – while we can’t see the full details here, in most cases cover begins from the moment you purchase. That includes cancellation protection well before your travel starts. So when we calculate any refund, we factor in the value that’s already been provided, rather than charging a separate cancellation fee. If something had gone wrong tomorrow and your trip was cancelled, you may have been able to claim – even though you hadn’t left yet.

We understand that the additional premium to include Spain felt steep. Some countries do fall into a higher risk category, which unfortunately impacts pricing. We always try to be transparent and help people find the best option for their situation.

Friendly and efficient call center staff

I recently took out a policy for our family trip for 10 people. I made a mistake in the details for 1 member. I contacted them by phone which was answered quickly. The lady was very helpful and pleasant and corrected my mistake. Hopefully our trip will go as planned and i won't need to make a claim but so far they've been great.

Missed Ports while Cruising

I recently returned from a cruise during which one of the scheduled ports was missed due to unfavorable water conditions and in the interest of passenger safety. While I fully understand and respect the decision, I wanted to inquire whether the missed port, given that port disembarkation is included in the overall cost of the cruise, is claimable under the travel insurance policy I purchased.

I have contacted your office on two separate occasions regarding this matter, but the representatives were unable to provide a clear answer. Instead, I was advised to submit a claim and await a response. Had I been given a definitive answer about whether missed ports are covered, it would save considerable time and effort. Thanks.

Passed my best before date

Just completed my fourth trip in three years with WAS as my insurer. Would have made it five with another long trip coming up in a few months, but I've just turned 70 and WAS will not cover me, I'm forced to choose another insurer.
