Very hard to cancel the reservation. There's no such option on their booking management page (or it's perfectly hidden). Phone line for Poland doesn't respond. Do not recommend
Quite frankly this company may have no idea about the car hire firm it places your booking with, and when you complain because that company have basically ripped you off for several hundreds of pounds, Argus car hire will stall, pretend they do not understand, send you the standard letter offering a small discount off your next booking, and then claim they have closed your complaint. They placed our order with a different named company than that advised at time of booking, working with beaten up old cars, from a fenced off compound and small office staffed by someone who became a very aggressive person when politely asked to make a note that hub cap was missing and several dents were on the car.
Do yourself a favor and just AVOID this slap dash excuse of a car hire company.
If i could give no stars i would! the WORST customer service i have ever spoken to i'm my life. The person on the online chat was SO RUDE!! and condescending. you buy insurance through them and then make you pay again at the desk when you arrive to collect your car saying they have no record of the insurance.

Booked and paid for hire, arrived in Vienna to collect hire car and told it has been cancelled! No communication about this, still not received money back. Absolutely disgusting service.
WARNING do not use this company they are a scam. They will take your money and if you arrive a few minutes late they cancel your car and then tell you if you want the same car it will cost you double.
I would not trust this company. I had to call off my trip to Italy due to the coronavirus outbreak. I wasn't even going to be able to retrieve my car at the desire location. I've asked for a refund and they're just pointing to the T&C of 24h return policy even though this is a special situation. Their website is buggy as hell.. can't even log a ticket properly. I would say AVOID this company unless you're willing to take the risk if something goes wrong.

I wouldn't recommend Argus... No refund policy if something goes wrong... Things are not clear when you book a rental... For instance, at my destination for holidays, they accept only Credit cards and no other payment methods for
the insurance amount and it wasn't clear when I booked the car...
If there was an option to proceed without any stars then I would do this as they do not even deserve one.

My honest advice would be to save yourself a headache and avoid this company at all costs.

Note that the prices on their web site are for UK license holders only. Others, e.g. Australians, have to pay considerably more for the rental and for the insurance (double!). You’ll find out by the time you make your reservation.
Ps: looking through the 100 most recent reviews of this company on this site, 38 (!!!) scored 1 star.
In response to Argus Car Hire’s reply: In my review I just stated the fact of nationality-based pricing, which has been now supported by their reply. Having rented cars for over forty years, I never have encountered prices depending on nationality. Please note that it is not only the insurance, it is also the car hire price. In my opinion, Argus can’t just hide behind their suppliers, they offer the cars and have set up their web site allowing this nationality-based pricing. They also chose to deal with companies that developed these ‘policies’. It seems to me that it is just another ploy to make price comparison that much harder, like the near-empty fuel scam, the insane insurance costs that now sometimes approaches the car hire price, the credit card supplements etc..

Don't Rent from them middle man scammers, book directly from suppliers!
We rented a Peugeot 3008 or similar which is a medium SUV which takes 4 cases and when we got to the rental desk we got a small estate with room for 2 cases.... car hire company refused to do anything about it ... Argus refused to do anything about it and had to rent a higher priced car with the luggage space. Out of pocket by over £200 which neither company refuses to refund.

No idea how to reply to the comment from Argus but it just underlines what a con merchant they are. They blame the customer for mis-representation on their website of the vehicle you are hiring and have referred to their small print, and blame the customer for not getting the car they ordered. Another sign that they have no customer service .... do not use them.
great service well most of it , shame the car was dirty inside and the washer bottle was empty, the staff couldn't open the bonnet of the car .. didn't seem to know about the car they were hiring out to me .. it was bigger than i had ordered .. was a good drive as i drove 3000km over 2 months, drop of was quick and easy
