Very poor defect management and quality control
Our experience with Chartway Group since moving into our new-build home has been extremely frustrating.
For over 15 months we have been dealing with significant defects including structural flooring issues across multiple rooms, heating system problems with the ASHP and radiators, and poor installation of appliances. Despite more than 20 contractor visits, many issues remain unresolved or required repeated attendance due to poor workmanship.
Communication and coordination of repairs has been inconsistent. Contractors have arrived without clear instructions, works have been delayed due to lack of authorisation, and several attempted repairs have either failed or required revisiting.
One example is the washing machine installation, which failed within weeks of moving in. The manufacturer refused warranty repair due to the installation method. When this was raised with Chartway it was initially dismissed as “standard installation”. A year later, Chartway began retrofitting the exact issue that had previously been denied.
The flooring issues throughout the property remain the most serious concern. The scale of the works required and the lack of a properly coordinated plan has created ongoing disruption and uncertainty about when the defects will actually be resolved.
While individual staff have been polite, the overall defect management process has been slow, reactive and poorly coordinated, leaving us living with unresolved problems in what should have been a new home.
After more than a year, we are still waiting for a clear and properly managed resolution.
