You are Absolutely WORSE Service

You are Absolutely WORSE Customer Service company I dealt with.

I called for a simpler regarding my existing coming booking (existing customer who already paid for the service), conversation has been cut off by Europcar representative laughing at me, pretending he does not understand me. I have to say I have not felt so much humiliated for a very long time. I dont re call such bad conversation with anyone. How do you employ this people, that just take advantage, get "clever" and "smarter" over your customers?
This was last booking with you, promised. UK reservation representative named Simon who refused to provide any more details. NEVER AGAIN Europcar UK or Global.

The title of a Cher Hit comes to mind "gyp............."

I had one of their cars sent to me after mine was written off after an accident. It had 1000 miles on the clock and a damaged windscreen, carefully hidden by the delivery driver putting the sun visor down. They instructed me to ring Autoglass for the repair, I of course got the bill, they then tried to get out of refunding the money to me, I got it after hard work. Then I was advised that insurance companies only pay for the first two weeks of car hire after the client has been paid for their car, I had a new car on order as mine was only 6 months old at the time of the crash. I had to take over the hire which I did informing them at the time that the fuel tank was empty and that the damaged windscreen had yet to be paid for, it was a poor repair, I coud have done better. After a week I put my wife on the insurance they quoted me £4.00 a day. When I returned the car a week later it was not inspected by them although I stated that the car had an almost empty fuel tank as it was when I took over the hire.
The invoice I received was the best work of fiction since Dickens was writing. £140 for my wife, £139.94 for the windscreen £18.00 labour for going round the corner to fill the tank with more fuel than the manufacturers specification for the fuel system!
Don't go there.

Scammers. Avoid!!!!!!!

These scammers delivered my mum a rental car which had tyre damage. On collection they tried to blame her and are now sending an insurance claim. Pathetic. Your staff should take photos and document all damage, it is Not the customers responsibility. Scamming thieves avoid this company at all costs.. Tried to call the Purfleet branch which puts you on hold for 15 mins then cuts you off. Also delivered the car to her 4 hours after the agreed time and picked it up a day late.. Like she has all day to wait around for you. Ridiculous. I'm reporting to watch dog and every other organisation as we're clearly not the only victims.

Excellent experience and great customer service

Excellent experience when we collected out car at Paphos airport and they gave a discount on an upgrade. Unfortunately, the car later developed a fault so we contacted Europcar explained what had happened and they arranged to collect the car and deliver a different one. As this was a lower class they kindly arranged to refund our fuel to compensate.The staff at Paphos Airport were amazing

Not trustworthy at all

The man behind the desk told us we had to take their insurance as we were using a uk debit card. This is A COMPLETE LIE. We had a our own yearly insurance, we did not need theirs but we were told we had to take their own - A COMPLETE LIE ! When we took it up with Europcar and sent them proof that we had our own insurance so would not have done this unless pressured they told us TOO BAD YOU HAVE SIGNED THE PAPERS !
These guys are crooks, they clearly get bonus if insurance is sold and this is their game
DO NOT USE THEM
I have now received a reply from Europcar's social media manager telling me to contact their customer service department, but it was them that told me that we had signed therefore had no recourse!! This company is rotten throughout, it is intent on making a one hit profit and not on building long term customer relationships.

Very bad service

Hi,
I picked up a car at Lutton and had to find out that Northampton's office does not accept drop-off after business hours although the system let me choose that option. I called a Europcar agent, to be disappointed, even more, they made me responsible for the car till the Northampton office opens up in the morning.

I am really sorry to hear that you had issues returning the vehicle, however, our branches' working hours are listed on the website. The website will allow you to reserve a car and arrange a return or termination of the rental out of normal working hours as some customers arrange for the cars to be collected. The collections usually take place on the next working day without any additional charges. Unfortunately our city branches are not operational throughout the weekend and most of them do not have drop off key boxes.

Their Website allowed me to hire a car…

Their Website allowed me to hire a car using home drop off and collect service and only when I rang the day before to check everything was ok, did they then advise me their local station didn't do home deliveries forcing me to look around at very short notice elsewhere the customer service representative suggested i get a cab! - Very poor. Notes aside I actually shopped around at another well known car hire company who collected me and dropped me off again at home for around £50 less than my original quote with Europcar so would defiantly recommend you look around.

AVOID, AVOID AVOID....AT ALL COSTS!!!
Europcar have to be the single worst company I have ever used. We had a 1 week holiday and during that time were given 3 vehicles all with faults. We complained at the hiring station in Cyprus, hence 3 different cars. We also complained to the UK branch as we booked through them. They have zero customer service skills and despite in the original email sending proof of having had 3 vehicles they now say we should have complained at the time (we did, we didn't just help ourselves to other cars!!).
If you want to be ripped off and then treated as though you are liars then feel free to use this company. If on the other hand you want to use a reputable, reliable company, I suggest you DON'T use Europcar. Legal action has now been taken.

steal your money, they have charged me for damage to the car that i did not do, i pointed it out to them when they delivered the car to me, they said dont worry it is fine we only write down the damage to the paint work not on the alloy wheels, the 2 months later i get a bill saying i damaged it tried fighting it but they are now taking me to court

Stop stealing my money!

Update: I was overcharged, and had multiple unauthorised payments taken from my account. Even after weeks of talking to customer service, when refunds were agreed, and then finally this whole saga was drawing to an end... ANOTHER unauthorised mysterious charge was taken!

STOP HELPING YOURSELVES TO MY MONEY EUROPCAR!!!

Please refund me and delete my account details.

The company is a total shambles. Fraudulent. Rip off merchants. Do NOT use Europcar!

Incorrect fuel surcharge

Been told there’s a fuel surcharge when the car was filled to the top half a mile from the drop off point!
Customer service advisor told me they would only charge in genuine cases, so it couldn’t be a mistake. Always great when a company questions your integrity and honesty as a customer!

Dangerous car

Went to take delivery for a car front London Croydon and man could not understand me that the cat was illegal to drive due to a smash on front of car I was at vw motorline and thank to there advice and support they are great help I would have been charged or arrested for driving a dangerous car be careful with Croydon branch others have been great and Croydon once was

Not recommended ! Loss of deposit!
In December I have rented 2 cars / two contracts with Gold Car in Ibiza.
I have got only one deposit back. After contacting Gold Car they confirmed that they have returned both, but on the infoline, no one wanted to help me neither to send me any more details about second deposit.
After claiming charge back I found out that the missing deposit was returned, BUT TO THE WRONG ACCOUNT AND WRONG PERSON.
I spent 3 months to get this information thanks to the bank as no one wanted to help me from Gold Car.
And still no one seems to care to check, where are my money...
I am left without 1200 EURO....

Sharp and misleading business pracrice

I recently hired a Europcar rental car at Gatwick Airport, the agent, Marie, advised that it was “mandatory” to obtain theft insurance or the car would not be released. This doubled the cost of the rental. I subsequently learned this was not the case - theft insurance is not "mandatory". I reached out to Europcar who agreed this was sharp business practice but stated since I rented the car they would continue to charge me. It appears their policy is to purposely mislead at the desk and claim there is no record.

I have given Europcar the chance to comment on this review, and they had no comments.

Pure Scammers....NEVER USE Europcar !

The car on collection was dirty with dust and water runs....we drove to our hotel and parked in a hotel car park private bollard protected space....3 days later we drove back to drop the car via the airport fuel station then we're told there was unrecorded paint damage to the nearside wheel arch......the collection rep said this was "no problem".
Until they charged me 149 Euros !!!
Never NEVER will I use this company.... My driving record is unblemished for over 40 years....how dare they tell me I was responsible for this !

This is how it should be!

I have used Europcar before but last year I fell for the Goldcar super cheap offering. That turned into a nightmare which was eventually resolved but my advice is don't use them as the low prices are a completely con in my view.

This time I used Europcar and couldn't have had a more different experience. The car I picked up was nice and had some damage but was all noted so no problem and we were on our way. A few days in we had a blowout in a front tyre and you always think Oh no this will be a big problem. I called the Helpline and we were sent down to the Benidorm office and the lady there couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Brilliant service and in no time we had a brand new car for the remainder of our holiday. No hassle no argument it was just dealt with and was everything you would want when having a problem in another country. Well done Europcar on this occasion I say and we will be using them again for sure

Shockingly bad service

Shockingly bad service. Arrived to to collect my vehicle I had booked 21 days previously. Last person had dropped off late and they were still cleaning it. Had a young family in tow and had just landed in Storm Denis and just wanted to get to our holiday home. Asked the staff member if I could take another car and the reply was a lazy and could not care less attitude, "Sorry to much paperwork, you will just have to wait". It took ages. It took at least an hour and a half from getting to the collection desk to receiving our car. It's a large company with every inch drenched in terms and conditions. I dropped off the car early and they refused to repay the time I did not use because I pre paid online. Never will I be using Europcar again.

Threat of court proceedings - still no money refund

Unprofessional company! Unfortunately I made a really bad experience and it seems that I am not the only one. Short version: I got by mistake a traffic violation invoice, which was cancelled and confirmed by the UK authority. So after several E-Mails with Europcar, also Europcar confirmed me their administration fee cancellation, because I did nothing wrong. Two months later I received a letter from Shakespeare Martineau (Debt Recovery Department) on behalf of Europcar UK. Europcar UK forget to cancel the invoice, but they confirmed me that now it was done. One month later I got another letter from Shakespeare Martineau with a threat that court proceedings will now be instituted, if I don´t pay. So I paid to avoid a court processings and now I´m still waiting since months for the refund of Europcar (they confirmed me the refund).

Answer to Dave:
I wrote already several e-mails to customerservicesuk and I didn't get an answer. That was also the reason why I involved Europcar Switzerland and they also had to write reminder e-mails until they got an answer after a long time, even when it was an urgent case (when I got the letter that they start now the court proceedings, if I don't pay).

Very sad , disappointed privilege club member

I have been a privilege customer for over 15 years with Europe car . As a privilege customer for so long they have always emailed me special deals of which I turned down ,but still kept hiring from them as a customer. Lately I have been getting loads of offers please hire and get 50% off as a privilege customer I had over 4 emails within 7 days. I decided for once after 15 years to take them up on the offer as a privilege customer
Rang them just like I do always informed them of my offer I was informed yes sir we can do that . I specifically informed the sales rep I drive automatic only please he answered no problem I will arrange the vehicle and the branch will issue the discount as I can not do it from my side! I asked why ? He informed me not to worry the branch will be able to do it as a privilege customer . I needed a vehicle for a week he charged me £96 on arrival at the branch the salesman informed me I was booked in a manual not automatic. I informed him am a privilege customer been hiring for years I was assured an automatic was reserved he said no it was a manual . To get me in to an automatic my price went up to over £200 I could not believe this . I informed them of my 50% email voucher which I was advised the branch would give the answer was simple No we can’t they should do it for you online not the branch . Despite contacting customer services transferred to different people I could not get any help despite Anne from customer services reservation promised to get the matter resolved and promised to get me a voucher emailed within 48 hours to credit my account nothing has happened up to now . I ended up keeping the vehicle for 2 weeks up to now no email or voucher to offer a refund a 15 year privilege customer very very dissatisfied. I will stay away and try other companies in future so sad customer service of Europcar is so bad I could think at least to be supportive to privilege customers for supporting them for so long . I will never hire from them again it’s like no one cares they refer people to customer services and no one does anything it’s against FCA rules to lie to customers it’s called mis selling may be I should sue as I feel really upset

Please be informed that when customers receive e-mails for specific discounts on their next hire, the reservation has to be placed online because we send a link that has the said discount attached.
We send these over to privilege customers quite often and we have a dedicated team that takes care of that specifically and re sends the e-mails and the discounts if needed as if you click on it and don't proceed with the booking you may not be bale to activate it again.
