I purchased the Russian learning suite which was a desktop program priced at £299, that no longer works with the current MacOS.
Customer Service fail to respond when I ask if their desktop suite is going to be updated to function with new macos.
My rating is 5 stars as the program is very well designed. It builds slowly, and is very friendly to use.
Speaking for myself only, I have found the method of teaching very interesting indeed. The immersive nature of the software is astonishing. How are you supposed to learn a language without knowing anything of it only by using the language you wish to learn? In my case, I chose to try to learn Italian, and everything is in Italian. There is no English translation whatsoever - my native language. I thought it strange at first as I had questions about what exactly I was saying - that is to say, what was the English translation of the phrase I was saying. But after a while I got over this hurdle and didn't worry about it all. Any questions I have I will look up later, but only after I have tried to decipher things myself.
Let's face it - this is the way to learn a foreign language! After all, if you are a young child who doesn't know any foreign language at all, how can you possibly ask what "Che cos' e?" means. The phrase occurs naturally as if you are a child looking at a picture book and the parent asks "What is this?", or "What is that?". You answer "Un pesce" - "A fish" never comes into it except in my own experience of my previous language. You see something and you name it in the language you have chosen. You don't first think "a fish" and then ask yourself, "What is the Italian for fish".
A very natural system of learning and teaching, and I would recommend it.
I learned fast and now I can have a conversation in English, what an achievement. Thanks to you guys.
It is a great learning tool and very easy to use, however the speaking sections don't always recognise what you say even though it is correct due to my Yorkshire accent
Only been using for a short time, but really liking it so far. Such a great and novel way to learn. I'm already recognising odd words of Spanish on TV. Love this app x
A very good platform for attempting to improve by schoolboy French rather late in life!
I'm enjoying the fully immersive approach which includes an effective combination of reading, listening and speaking exercises.
The only problem I have experienced is an intermittent problem with the speech recognition software.
Excellent learning technique. Love it & I'm learning very quickly.
I really like Rosetta stone, I've been using another app to teach myself Spanish and getting on well. It was limited in grammar, whereas Rosetta stone teaches you grammar without you even realising. It's very clever system using images, tone, voice and pitch which makes you remember. I'm really glad I purchased!
Loving the way this program teaches you and you pick up meanings and why phrases are the way they are along the way
If you are keen or slightly worried learning a new language. You can be rest assured that Rosetta Stone are with you all the way.
Great app... intuitive, highly graphical and entirely in the language of the learning.
I am very happy with Rosetta Stone. It’s helped me greatly and I would recommend it to all my friends.
My husband purchased Rosetta stone for me in 2012. Which I registered with them. Which I used several times. and then i was unable to use it (health reasons) and we had a computer destroyed due to a flood. I have the CD and am being told by Rosetta Stone that I am unable to use it because) they deactivated it (and no one there can tell me why) and they want proof of purchase. So let me get this straight. I have the CDs the activation code (which no one could make up as it's about 20 letters and numbers long). They even have my email address and phone number and records but refuse to activate it. So i have a product that my husband paid several hundred dollars for and Rosetta Stone will not honour it. NOT HAPPY with them at all.
Very good, from an ex French Teacher!
Excellent starting point for learning. I'm only on Unit 2 and I've made tons of progress.
The fact it is app based means I can take it everywhere and learn anytime. Highly recommended!
Bought a two year subscription. Was able to use it for about 2 weeks. Now I get constant "UNable to connect" errors, and phone crashes everytime I open the app. I haven't been able to learn anything in weeks. Support literally ignore me.
I desperately wanted to learn this language, but at this stage would rather have a refund and give up. Rubbish company with rubbish support, and an unusable app. Can't believe how much money I've lost over a two year subscription that I can't use. Completely THEFT.
BUYER BEWARE!!! They keep charging my credit card for a service I did not sign up for, not used! I go to get a refund to be told they cant refund my $400. I have to go to Google. I ask who I'm meant to speak too there to get my money back. And I'm told "I dont know." I go to google, and now I'm having issues getting my money back, as the payments have been taken from my credit card since FEB - NOV. Too far back currently to get a refund. I'm so unbelievably mad!! I needed to get pain medication for a broken neck and now I have no money to get it!!! This has never happened to me and I cant believe it.
I was looking forward to using their app for a number of languages. No chance now. Be careful who you give your credit card details too. I've been robbed, no care or help from them. God I've never even written a review before I dont think. DO NOT USE ROSETTA STONE!!!
I learnt Spanish with Rosetta Stone for six months prior to a trip to an area of Spain I knew didn’t speak much English. I completed the course and was surprised at how well I could communicate with the local people. Most importantly I could understand most of what was said back to me. The total immersion method worked for me and I can recommend it.
